some interesting findings:
The federal government owns 24% of all land, worth a collective $1.8 trillion. (That’s 8% of the country’s total value, or around 10% of the total outstanding federal debt.)
Just 5.8% of U.S. land is developed, but that land accounts for 50.7% of the total value.
Almost half, 47%, of U.S. land is used for agriculture.
Besides New Jersey, three other states have land worth an average of at least $100,000 an acre: Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. At least a quarter of the land in those four states is developed.
Land in 24 states, including Wisconsin, Texas and Maine, is worth less than $10,000 an acre, on average.
In Nebraska, 92.7% of land is used for agriculture, the most of any state.
Nevada has the largest share of federal land, covering 86.8% of the state. Connecticut has the least, just 0.1% of the state’s area.
Land in the nation’s capital is worth $1.05 million an acre and 18% of land in Washington, D.C., is owned by the federal government.

Unfunded debt liability is $100T+. We literally couldn't sell our way out of debt now. The only rational answer left is war.

Don't kid yourselves, the US government owns ALL the land... you only lease it.
Try not paying real estate taxes and see what happens.

It's ok because the economy is great and we don't have to pay back the printed money or payback the loans.

Strategic military bases, but most of the fed land is in the west where the mountain ranges run which they own. Also major water sources for the west.

It just seems like some of this land could be sold to pay down the debt or pay for rebuilding America's dilapidated roads and bridges.

Media mogul Ted Turner has won his fight against Taos County, getting a big break on property taxes. Turner owns the 600,000 acre Vermejo Ranch on the New Mexico/Colorado border.
More than 30,000 acres of that sits in Taos County and was valued at $17.7 million by the assessors’ office. The taxes on that is $108,000 a year.
However, the value was challenged arguing that the ranch should be classified as agricultural land because it’s used for logging and raising bison, dropping the annual taxes to $17,000 a year.

He basically claims all of his properties are used for agriculture to get a lower property tax. If all of his properties were tax at this same rate he would only be paying one million a year. Not counting any farm subsidies he was receiving from the government.
The report also says millionaires Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and Ted Turner have collected farm subsidies.
“These individuals include Scottie Pippen and Ted Turner, respectively. Millionaires also receive state tax breaks on farm land. For example, Jon Bon Jovi paid property taxes of only $100 last year on his extensive real estate holdings in New Jersey that he uses to raise bees. At the same time, Bruce Springsteen received farm subsidies because he leases his property to an organic farmer,” the report explains.

This is common with the rich. In texas all sorts of athletes own huge properties. They buy a cow and a pig and declare their land as farms. Not only do they not pay taxes but they get subsidies from the gov for being a farm. Fucking crooks.
