Title: Post contest rebound thoughts?
Post by: Competitor 9 on April 22, 2015, 11:33:46 PM
What is your experience with "rebound" post contest? I started hitting it heavy out of the gate. Massive amounts of food.  I'm currently 230. Biggest I've ever been in decent shape. Put on fat and tons of water but to really take advantage of it I feel you have to really make a surplus of carbs. What are you take on it? Ride the rebound tell the wieght stops increasing then mini diet down some?

Thoughts? That would require thinking. You've come to the wrong place.

Party!

I couldn't wait to put on 3 kilos after a comp. But once I filled out to a healthier level I would eat clean 90 per cent of the time.

Mods please move to the positive bodybuilding subforum.

starting a thread on the g and o is a recognised get big standard to generate views and traffic

I heard that from someone on here recently

and thought to myself I agree

surely someone with views like that wouldn't make a comment like the one you just did

it shouldn't be overdone. disgusted said he would take advantage of it and make sure his clients keep training post contest but it shouldn't be an excuse to eat like a pig and bloat up.

it is a form of black magic (as halo would say) that has not been fully understood yet.

The actual muscle growth achieved is not nearly as much as some would have you believe. Most over do it. The stress on your body from extrely rapid weight gain is not worth a pound (maybe) of muscle.

Actually some believe the gain is due to the muscle you gain while dieting and you just filling out. You will gain weight afterwoods but excess is just fat and water.

This. Im never doing that bulk/rebound shit ever again. Each time i diet back down im maybe up .5lbs, i even that. Its just fat and water with a bulk. Ive come to realize its being lean, uppig the dose, And lightly increasing cals that is best

After a  big diet down and contest it's best to take a couple weeks off.  regroup then start lifting heavy again.

All water and fat...there is no magical post comp rebound affect where you put suddenly make crazy muscle gainz once you start stuffing your face...most people lack the discipline after the show to stick to their diet and slowly increase the calories back up...

Didn't you compete at ~190?

40 pounds in about a month isn't "rebound", it's just downright reckless. 3-4 pounds muscle, 10 pounds water, 16-17 pounds fat.

I remember you said you were gonna stay lean after the show. Then again, everyone says that, lol...

Just don't lose the top 2 abs. Usually to go from to 2 abs to nice lean stomach, it's about 20lbs.

to lose 20 is not too hard, 10 lbs of easy water retention to lose, then slowly lose the other 10 unwanted lbs of fat.

Seems like your body would be primed so soak up nutrients the insulin resistance and all that jazz. Just don't eat shit food.

false this is bullshit actually....at the end of a long cut your metabolism is actually slower than it was in the early stages and needs to be "nursed" back to health via slowly walking the calories back up otherwise you will gain a shitload of fat very fast....seen it happen over and over.

Why would you eat massive amounts of food right after a major calorie restricted diet? Sounds like a nice way to gain fat quickly like you're noticing.

Exactly

Because your muscles are like a spounge. Ready to soak up and grow. If you dieted right your metab will not be trashed
