Title: Have you noticed the Showtime/HBO excuse machine working at full power now?
Post by: Slapper on May 02, 2015, 10:03:12 PM
They really have no excuse now.

One-sided fight that failed miserably to live up to what was expected.

And now Lampley and the others working really hard to convince people how a scared little pussy won a bad fight.

Exactly!  People who don't know anything about boxing find Mayweather boring...they just don't realize that they're watching probably the purest boxer/tactician ever.

no one in their right mind listens to lampley.  i could give a shit if it was 11-1 rounds.  this fight proves we need to stay away from social media driven fights.  there are obvious match ups on the board but they won't happen because of SM.

you will see fmw vs khan instead of thurman (clear #1 mandatory) or brook (IFB belt holder)

you will see manny vs a fading danny garcia instead of terrance crawford or lucas matts.

social media or dcafs as they say now will drive the popular fights, not the best, most competitive fights.

fmw vs manny isn't even a top 100 fight but as nails posted ESPn will try to push it as a Classic in 20 yrs.

Leo Santa Cruz and his insurance salesman was a better fight. Wow!

If he's untouchable then he should be able to KO all of his opponents...

He supposedly KO's his sparring partners. He should bring that mentality into the ring on fight night.

^ 100% this. it should be Brook for a unification or Thurman.

it won't be Khan i don't think because he can't fight in September cos of Ramadan and that's when FMW said he's fighting.

i reckon it will be Cotto though which is bollocks.

It lived up to exactly what was expected by people who actually watch the sport. What the fuck were you expecting? A Hagler-Hearns type fight?

People need to stop expecting exciting fights from Mayweather. I don't know why he is such a massive draw because for entertainment value he is awful.

Listen ass wipe, I'm way more upset at the shitty shape Manny showed up in than Floyd's supposed "superiority". If throwing jabs from 6 feet away, 1-2 punch combinations and a grab-fest is what boxing is to you, be my guest.

I, like people who know a lot more about boxing than you and I like Tyson, am in absolute awe at FM's ability to avoid getting punched. But please, spare me the bullshit story that that is called boxing.

If you knew anything about boxing than you would know that the fight went pretty much exactly the way most expected it to. Yet you originally claimed that the fight failed miserably to live up to what was expected, clearly showing you don't actually know much about the sport.

The way most expected it to go? Huh? In North Korea, maybe.

We all knew what Manny needed to do. We also knew what wimp-ass Mayweather was going to do because that's what he does every fucking fight. Much is said about his adaptability, but it's all bullshit: when he isn't winning rounds with his bitch-ass jab he reverts back to his old style of avoiding getting punched (hence not taking any chances) and letting the other fighter tire out. This much happened to Judah and Corley. Had these two had enough gas in the tank, the wimp would've lost both fights.

And not for nothing, but for $100, we should've gotten a much better fight as well as Beyoncé doing the in-between-rounds naked, both fighters getting blown by two gorgeous big-titted redheads, the celebrities in attendance buying Crystal for everyone and making it rain $100 dollar bills and Joe Pesci doing the commentating along with a really pissed off KKK guy.

This was a $20 fight.

I've seen more action in a street fight in 5 minutes than in one of these fights in 12 rounds.

This is why Kimbo's fights were so frigging popular.

This is how boxing has evolved: from throwing punches to making sure you don't get hit and the future will be to not throw any punches at all.

It's really going that route.

I agree , Mayweather is doing something wrong , Kimbo was way more popular than Floyd , Kimbo  gave people what people wanted .

Listen to the other boxers' comments on Mayweather. He doesn't get the respect a guy with this pedigree ought to get.

A sign that he isn't as good as his camp thinks he is.

Even Pacquiao talked about that at the end of the fight "what can I do, he runs around the ring and refuses to trade". And yes, Manny knew that before he got in the ring with him though.

Haven't seen it yet but heard it was boring.  The joke is on the idiots that paid $100 to watch it.  Both fighters were laughing thinking, they are both walking away with more money that you can count.  No matter the outcome.  Floyd makes $200 million after taxes is $110 million.  Pac gets $100 million in the Philipines is like having $2 billion in the US.

Can't believe no media picked up on how scrawny and weak Pac looked compared to his past five fights. It was like a reverse before and after muscle tech ad.
