I know, it's a shame. There will be the odd handful that manage to live into their hundreds, but not many left. My grandfather was one of the original Achnacarry commando's, who ended up having his life saved by a german. He's still going but can't walk and pretty much lost his marbles.

Yup. And then it will be the Korean War veterans that will perish. Then the Vietnam War veterans will follow. There will be a time in the future where Veterans of the 1991 Gulf War will be old men in their 90's.

yes... my Uncle died some years ago. Was in Africa and drove Field Marshal Montgomery. never spoke about it untill i joined up and funny enough i ended up serving in the Desert rats too like he did. was a very good man.

The last WWI vet just died 3 or 4 years ago... there will be WWII vets for another 25 to 30 years or so

Only in Russia they have 1000's of WW2 vets of 70-80 yo ;D
