Sunday Biker Gang Shooting Leaves Nine Dead, 16 Injured
KWTX (May 17, 2015) By: Lauren Partain, Carlos Garcia and Brandon Marshal
Three rival motorcycle gangs turned a local restaurant into a shooting gallery Sunday afternoon and when the gunfire was over, nine people were dead and 17 were injured..
Waco police Sunday afternoon, assisted by Department of Public Safety troopers, police officers from several cities and deputies from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office were surrounding the Twin Peaks Restaurant, in the Central Texas Market Place after several people were reported shot during a rival motorcycle gang fight, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
Police and troopers were in the parking lot trying to secure the area and protect citizens when a fight broke out inside the restaurant and spilled into the parking lot.
Swanton said the fight quickly escalated from fists and feet to chains, clubs and knives, then to gunfire.
Gang members were shooting at each other and officers at the scene fired their weapons, as well, Swanton said.
The scene at the Market Place between Don Carlos and Twin Peaks was absolute chaos, Swanton said.
"It is one of the most violent scene I've seen in my 34 years as a police officer in Waco," Swanton said.
Swanton said officers recovered more than 100 weapons from the scene and there were several vehicles that had bullet holes in them.
Swanton said no officers and no civilians were injured.

no shit, WTF is wrong with people, this happened about an hour from me and there claiming it was a parking spot dispute :-\

They were stacking them like cord wood it seems. I'm seeing some smaller clubs named The Cassocks, Vaqueros. I wouldn't be surprised if some Bandidos show up in the mix. Texas news feeds are showing that the various clubs are calling in reenforcements.

I realize these aren't the Hells Angels, but the minute nine people are dead and you're shooting at police, you transition from a club to a gang. The bottom line is these guys screwed up today and many of them are going to server time because of it.
I live in Texas and wondered why my neighbor would take his gun with him every time he would ride his Harley. This is the reason. I bet over half these guys had guns on them.
-
even money the cops starting shooting first and ballistics show all the dead were hit by cop bullets.

I'd hate to have to prosecute this case - at least 5 different gangs were involved, estimated 150 - 200 people involved.

About time. These tough guy outlaws hadn't done anything press worthy since they roughed up some hippie at a grateful dead concert in 1967. I was starting to think all they did was ride around and bake cupcakes.

A couple of smaller ones were there too, the Scimitars, Leathernecks, Veterans and Los Pirados. It seems like the big battle was the Bandidos and Cassocks, with affiliated clubs joining in too.

Organized crime is merely about money, whatever level its on. So yeah there is a deep issue.
American biker gangs hardly seemed organized though. No powerful group would ever operate like this. Embarrassing and childish, was probably about "turf" ::)

If only everyone involved was armed. Wouldn't have happened.

everyone wanna plat jax teller nowadays ::)

For me, it's kind of ridiculous the lengths these grown men go to play biker bad ass. How seriously they take it. For example, you have to get permission from the main club for that region before you can start your own MC. And unless you are a 1% or a sister club that is authorized you better not be wearing a rocker patch. 90% of them are losers who need to belong to something or they have no identity. Followers who feel they now matter. Not unlike the TV series, the leaders tend to use the members for their own gain all the while playing the brotherhood card. I'd bet that only a handful of the group at Twins Peak were bad asses and the rest were there assuming nothing was going to happen and scoping out the chicks. When the shit started going down they were pissing their pants trying to get out of the way. I would suspect after the smoke clears there will be a sudden and noticeable decrease in membership as the majority just wanted to play bad ass and not really be in any danger.

Biker gangs are just another form of organized crime. They have a ranking structure. They deal in drugs mainly meth, prostitution and intimidation pay offs for their "protection."
Glad the cops responded promptly to these lunatics who were armed to the teeth having their turf war. You want to wave a gun around with threats then the cops will rightly end that threat.

Hmmm, lets see: Hundreds of bikers with guns. You dont taze. You use deadly force (guns).
One guy vs. 10 cops, you can probably taze. Instead, cops prefer to beat the shit out of the person.
Seems like cops cant tell the difference when to use deadly force and when not to. :-\ :-\

Word is that there has been a "green light" given for open war against the police in Waco. Curious.
Not really. On the surface it would be a super stupid move by the club and while not rocket scientist, they aren't that stupid. Plus, anytime there is a "shoot any cop in uniform" order given, whether it be by the Crips, Bloods or biker gangs, we simply wear bathrobes to work over our uniforms for a few days and it foils their plans every time.
-
Not that I disagree with you, but why would the Chief of Police make a statement that they had credible information that a "green light" was indeed corroborated? Is this a ploy by the cops to keep that out of the biker gangs minds?

Waco police: Some bikers may have been shot by officers
Source: USA Today
A phalanx of law enforcement officers were combing a bloody, bullet-riddled crime scene Monday, trying to sort out who killed whom a day after a melee involving rival biker gangs left nine people dead.
Some of the dead and wounded may have been shot by officers responding to the bedlam at the Twin Peaks restaurant franchise, Waco police spokesman Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
"They started shooting at our officers and our officers returned fire," Swanton said. Most of the dead and wounded suffered from gunshot and stab wounds, he added.
"It is a pretty gruesome scene," Swanton said.
How many bikers may have died from police gunfire is not yet known. Citing a law enforcement source, CNN reported that four of the dead bikers were shot by police.

Probably find in time that all the gun shots were inflicted by police, bar room brawl with weapons that escalated to a shoot out with the police when they couldn't get control due to lack of numbers.

This is similar to the Milperra (Sydney suburb) massacre ,2nd Sep. 1984 outside Viking tavern & shutout between MC Comancheros (4 dead) & MC Bandidos (2 dead), 28 wounded + 1 innocent bystander died.

as white people we need to riot... attacking a armed police officer is unjustified
-
To bad the cops didnt shoot all of them...i dont care if they beat eachother to death in the woods but starting this bloody fight where there are children around that will have nightmares and be terrified is sick. Just because of that its a shamed that the cops didnt shoot everyone of them. I have close friends in the hells angels and i would say the samething if they started to fight with weapons around my kid
-
Absolutely incredible that the gang members fired upon the police first and not a single police officer was killed, hit or even grazed by a bullet. This sounds more and more like an organized and systematic mass assassination designed to rid the streets of 180 gang members. What a coincidence it happened down the road from Ruby Ridge.
-
They charged a bunch, but I bet they only charge a few in the long run. It's too hard to figure who was acting in legitimate self defense, and who wasn't. Meanwhile you hard change/high bail a bunch, and you hope some flip or start dry snitching on themselves. Also, Texas has a huge ride along and bike meet the first or second week of June, so it keeps a bunch off the street for that, or it allows the state to cancel it.
There is also talk that a bunch will wind up in the slam on parole beefs.
-
You're just a typical progressive liberal cop hater. Are there any gears turning in that head of yours?
Awwww someone criticized the cops and you're all butt hurt. Those damn progressive liberals. Poor baby. You deluded idiot. Go away.

yep. It'll end up being "cops killed 4 of them, 5 of them are INCONCLUSIVE", and 180 people charged with murder.
I guess that's how Texas deals with gangs.
However, as with all things "2015", video will emerge at some point, and we'll see some smartmouth causing some cop to open fire, a few cops emptying their magazines, a bunch of people running, and voila, cops create the narrative they want. VIDEO can mix that up, of course.

The New York Times
FERNANDEZ, SERGE F. KOVALESKI and ALAN BLINDERMAY 18, 2015
[Snip]
“The view of the Bandidos is that Texas is their state,” said Terry Katz, the vice president of the International Association of Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Investigators. “They are the big dogs of Texas, and then this other, smaller club — the Cossacks — comes along in 1969 or so, and they decide that they are not going to bow down.”
The Bandidos take their supremacy so seriously that in El Paso in 2012, five members and associates were arrested on allegations that they attacked bikers belonging to other groups because the Bandidos had not given them permission to wear their “colors,” or group logos. Members who fight in the name of a motorcycle club are often rewarded with patches and pins.
One slogan displayed in the 1990s by Bandidos members caught up in a Nordic turf war with the Hells Angels seemed to sum up the group’s ethos: “God forgives. Bandidos don’t.”
Don Charles Davis, who writes the biker blog “The Aging Rebel,” said the Waco episode was “a challenge to the Bandidos’ pre-eminence” by less established organizations, like the Cossacks.

You've entered the twilight zone my friend... You can spin it any way you like but you hate cops because a couple cops laughed at you years ago when your car broke down. Now you can't wait to jump to conclusions about how the cops caused these bikers grief for no apparent reason. Put some big boy pants on and get over it dude

No that's a good question. I've seen the exact bulletin he's referring to and our department as well as I interpret it differently. But there is a LOT of information coming from many sources since then trying to vet the information. At this point, I am pretty confident it was interpreted incorrectly. With the number of bikers in the area and no cops being shot, it seems to indicate it was bad info, however, things could change.

Sounds like the Cossacks were set up.
By Tim Madigan and Kevin Sullivan May 23
Washington Post
It started with a phone call.
About a week before Sunday’s gunfight, according to the Cossack, a leader of the Bandidos, a man named Marshall from the Longview area in East Texas, contacted Owen Reeves, the “nomad,” or leader, of the Cossacks’ Central Texas region.
Marshall invited the Cossacks to Twin Peaks on Sunday when the Texas Confederation of Clubs and Independents was scheduled to hold a major meeting. Those meetings are generally about bikers’ rights, safety and other administrative issues. The Bandidos dominate that organization; the Cossacks are not members.
Marshall said that the Bandidos “wanted to get this cleared up,” according to the Cossack, who was relating what he said Reeves told him. “He said, ‘Bring your brothers, hang out, and let’s get this fixed and we can all leave in peace and be happy.’ He was talking to our chapter in Waco. That’s where the heat has been at. The leader of our Central Texas chapter said, ‘Okay, I’m going to make this happen.’ ”
Reeves, who was jailed after the melee, could not be reached for comment. No members of the Bandidos could be reached for comment. Most participants in the violence, and eye-witnesses to it, are in jail, in the hospital or dead. Even waitresses on duty that day have not responded to messages.
The Cossack continued: “Anybody who is a Cossack knows this call was made because the Nomad called everyone and said, ‘We have an opportunity to make this right. I think we should take a risk.’ And everybody agreed.”
Parley turns deadly
The Cossack said he and the others congregated on the outdoor patio and started ordering food and drinks. They chatted with other bikers from smaller “mom and pop” bike clubs, who were already well into their burgers and beers and margaritas ahead of the 1 p.m. confederation meeting.
Guns and other weapons are a common part of biker culture, and the Cossack acknowledged that some members of his gang were armed.
“But not all of us,” he said. “We had no reason to believe that this was going to go that way.”
The parley with the Bandidos had been set for 11 a.m., the Cossack said, but the Bandidos didn’t arrive until about 12:15, when about 100 of them pulled into Twin Peaks in a long, loud line of Harleys.
Trouble started almost immediately, he said: One of the Bandidos, wearing a patch that identified him as a chapter president, ran his bike into a Cossack standing in the parking lot. The Cossack who was hit was a “prospect,” a man in his mid-20s who was “striving to become” a full member of the club.
“They came up really fast, and the prospect turned and faced the bikes,” the Cossack chapter president said. “He fell backward into other [parked] bikes. The guy who hit him stopped and got off of his bike and said, ‘What are you doing? Get . . . out of my way. We’re trying to park.’ ”
Cossacks quickly jumped to the prospect’s defense, he said: “Guys were saying, ‘You’re disrespecting us,’ or, ‘We’re not backing down.’ ”
In a blink, it started, he said: “Two punches: One from them, one from us.”
A Bandido with a patch identifying him as sergeant-at-arms of the same chapter threw a punch at Richard Matthew Jordan II, 31, known as “Richie,” who was from Pasadena, Tex. Jordan punched the guy back.
“At that point in time, the sergeant in arms shot Richie point-blank,” the Cossack said.
Police said Jordan died of a gunshot wound to the head.
“Then all the Bandidos standing in the parking lot started pulling guns and shooting at us,” he said. “There were maybe 60 or 70 of us in the parking lot. . . . We took off running. We scattered. Three of our guys went down instantly. They caught a couple more that tripped and fell, and Bandidos were shooting at them.”
He said that the second man to die was Daniel Raymond Boyett, 44, known as Diesel, a “road captain” in the Cossacks from Waco. Police said that Boyett died from gunshot wounds to the head.

WACO JUDGE AGREES TO LET MOST BIKERS GO – IF THEY SIGN A CONTRACT VOWING NOT TO SUE FOR WRONGFUL ARREST “It appears the public defenders office in McLennan County is involved in this scurrilous activity,” said Paul Looney, a Houston attorney with Looney & Conrad, P.C. “I’ve never seen anything like the lawlessness that the authorities have perpetrated on these people and now to add insult to injury they are trying to cover their own tracks in exchange for bond.”

Trying to figure out if Washington Weekly News is a satire site before commenting. I don't want to have to leave the site out of embarrassment.

FOX news is my favorite satire news site. The way they portray Republicans as angry, hateful hypocrites that want the govt to stay out of their lives, except for the 5000 social issues they feel strongly about...
I love it. Brilliantly done.
