Title: Need suggestions for a hack squat machine
Post by: V Man on May 28, 2015, 05:56:57 PM
My gym is looking for a new hack squat machine. I'm friends with the owner and he said he was having trouble finding one that met his criteria. Space is limited so the more compact the better, and he would prefer a leg press/hack squat combo machine.

I know most Getbiggers don't work out but I thought maybe a few out there might have some suggestions  ;D

The best hack squat machine is a power rack, a barbell and some free weights.

My neck and low back pain disagree.  :-\

This pic will be funny for eternity.

Just Bob's eye balls and how they buldge out gives him such a freaked out facial expression and that dude is the back just looks too happy to be there.

So wrong and timelessly funny.

Nebula, Precor / Icarian, and Atlantis are the three hack squats that I've liked over the years. Nebula got bought out by Rogue, so the brand is in a state of flux, so I'd contact Rae Crowther - http://raecrowther.com/ ,  who owned the brand before them, and see if parts, etc.... are still available before investing in one.

The other sticky wicket is the want for it to be a hack / press combo if possible, those have been getting pretty rare on the commercial end, but some thing like the Legend model might work, and I'd trust it in a commercial environment -

I've yet to experience a decent hack/press combo yet. Tell him to stick with one or the other and invest the money in a decent piece of individual equipment.

We've bought a few things from Rae Crowther. Some great equipment there.

This machine is similar to the one at the gym where I work out. One difference I see right away is that on ours, the lower plate's angle is adjustable. I like using this machine not only for hack squats but also for reverse hack squats.

Damn, I cannot wait to get my lazy ass back in the gym.

I agree, and I have been trying to convince him to go with a single Hack Squat, especially since we already have 2 other leg press machines. I can't understand why he is so keen on the combo. It's a small gym so he is trying get multi function equipment as much as he can.....I just don't see what benefit having a third machine that you can do leg press on will be. But it is his gym.

Does it come with the silver fox or does one have to provide their own schmoe?
