Title: Do you get with bored with bodybuilding ?
Post by: Howard on June 07, 2015, 07:35:29 AM
I do.

At times, I thought I could really roll with just bodybuilding as my main fan sport and active hobby.
But, alas, my interest fades in and out. I need all my other sports ( NFL, MLB, MLS, etc) or I'd go crazy from boredom.
C'mon , how many versions of Jay's chest workout after jumping in his home pool can you watch? LOL

Maybe , bodybuilding shows have to be few per year to keep our interest?
Perhaps, it's like competing in more then 1-2 shows per year...you quikly get burned out?
Unlike other sports with a full season and playoffs, bodybuilding seems best suited to one shot deals.
I've heard bodybuilding is like the circus. It's fun when it comes to town once per yr .
Thoughts?

For me the enjoyment and worth is in doing it myself. Not watching others.

I do like following the pros progress but I'm in it for me, not to spectate.

I get bored of eating though.

I enjoy the training. Never tire of that, if I miss workouts I get edgy, cause it eases daily stresses.
Lost interest in BB when Haney retired. I still like to watch some older footage once in a while (70's BB and PL).

This modern shite is just plain retarded...

Other things are getting more important, but I try to keep it up. Latelybthat seems to work out well. And I always feel great after a satisfying session.

Only when a burnout, then I take a step back for a week.

I try to watch the Olympia but not even half way through it I'm bored out of my mind.

I've been training forever but that is also tedious. If I go for a run I come back feeling on top the world both mentally and physically. That also goes for biking and swimming. After lifting I just feel tired and spent.

Bodybuilding is the life
It's battle
It's war
It's not for the weak

Do I get bored with it?
Yes.
But not enough to pick up any other interests really.

Could always try and run a faster mile, but that would mean being able to run a mile to begin with. Meh...

There is no comparison with bodybuilding and pro team sports. I would watch a replay of a Week 3 match-up between the NFL's two worst teams before tuning in (if it were possible) to a live bodybuilding competition...with the exception perhaps of the Arnold and Olympia. But live football game vs. live bodybuilding, I'm onto America's Game all day long.

The part of bodybuilding that I find interesting is the every day lifestyle aspect of it, not the contests.

Got bored in '99 and not watched another 'contest', a video or bought and read a mag since. Every few years I would see one on the magazine shelf and page through it and see the same shit I saw in the mid 90s, just different faces and bigger stomachs. I've left bodybuilding as a 'sport' well behind in the previous millennium. Now as for bodybuilding training, I still dabble in that but my aims are completely different.

Same experience for me. I really get a rush from intense , quality cardio type work outs now.
I also enjoy hikes and watching various pro sports .

To quote kyomu.. "bodybuilding is the muscle"

That said.. bodybuilding is gay as fuck and has little entertainment value.

Lift, pursue your personal goals, and take the whole competitive thong scene as entertainment and something to laugh at...

Not much reason to tell you this as a thong wearing veteran.. you know this already  ;D

I hear ya and that's exactly what I'm doing now. 100% serious.
BUT , I really enjoy being goofy on getbig LOL.

1. fasted cardio 1st thing in the morning , 30 min
2.  two (2)brief, 1 body part workouts a day.
3. Basic , sound nutrition with no junk or gimmicks.

Older guys in my age group ( like YOU) who get ripped are my current role models.

I think about getting ripped but then I open a beer and a bag of potato chip and the thought goes away.
