Use a steamer...  You could probably find one at Goodwill, Salvation Army, or local resale shop for not much money.

Sounds healthy, cooking plastic while it holds in your food. Nothing bad can happen there, totally inert im sure

as obvious as this is, and despite hating plastic on food products, i've never even considered this before now :-[

fortunately, we mainly use the uncle bens boxed rice the the portion windows on the edge of the box

Awesome man glad i could help out. I steer clear of submerging plastic into my boiling water i make rice with. Cant believe people do that

yeah it was a nightmare when i tried it last time. pretty embarrassing that i couldn't even handle cooking a bag of rice. I've almost recovered enough to try it again though.

Never tell the truth about a pot of ruined rice.  What with fending off the attacking ninjas and saving the puppies from the tsunami, Miyamoto Musashi couldn't have cooked that rice right.

The secret to making great rice is to abduct a young asian tourist and force her to boil it in a pot over low heat until it's cooked.  Buy extra rice tho because you may have to nab several of them since they migrate in groups called shutterpods.

brown rice usually takes 30mins minimum.

It was over 40 for me. And I've also tried black rice, it takes even longer. God I don't even know why I was doing it back then.

Actually you can cook delicious fluffy white rice in a common stewpan, my girlfriend gave me some lessons.

BTW, if boil-in-bag rice is not healthy enough, what can you say about tea bags?

;D the REAL secret to a perfectly cooked rice, is to leave a damp electronic device in a sack of it overnight. When a chinese guy inevitably turns up to fix it, you force him to make a healthy meal too. (this is also how i got my black eye, as he didn't take kindly to disrespect).

Impressive bowtie around 3-4 threads there. Under appreciated.

And there's the wind up and the pitch, a nice soft slow one right over home plate....

You can't say nothing cause  with a teabag you got Deez Nutz in your mouth.

ok so you need the rice to be in a bag to cook it?

is that how lazy we have gotten? you cant cook rice without it having to be pre-packaged in a plastic bag ?

next you need someone to chew the food for you.

so much lazy shit posted on getbig i can hardly open threads any longer...

SOME of us here are military vets who got used to MRE's (yes, I'm one of them!) and don't want lots of random pots to wash...

When I cook white rice every other day, even with my kitchen skills, it's not a nightmare. hahaha

Seems you made another dramatic breakthrough though. Got to find what works.

Make sure you spray a helluva lotta non-stick in it if you go w/ a rice cooker.
