Hes 48 years old. His time is coming to an end. Still looks good for his age.

Absolutely! But why keep competing when your body is clearly telling you its had enough? Just retire, downsize a bit and live a little longer while doing seminars and promoting shows.

They are probably worried if they stop competing and lose size, no one will care about them any more.
Guys like Ronnie and Jay can downsize and still be in the limelight because they were both former Mr. O's.
Bodybuilding is a mental illness.
-
An Nguyen, Akim Williams, and Brad Rowe are the only guys in the open that actually look good, everyone else is WAY off. The 212 guys are blowing the open out of the water conditioning and symmetry-wise.

Craig Richardson jumped into the 212, but still doesn't look dialed in

one of the nicest guys u could meet, jersey guy,he had a good run and was incredible as a teen/early 20's won evrything he entered in jersey..i think last few yrs he's been of the map and not training as hard and then trying to stay on transitioning into 212's ,, i think in his peak if they had 212 class then he would have done well..

Much easier to rip into someone's impressive physique with poorly timed photographs.

He looks healthy

RIP. He departed this world in his sleep -- peacefully -- of heart complications.

Dear GetBiggers,
Of course, being Craig Richardson's Training Partner, I am subject to an attack of being biased, but I feel compelled to mention just a few points.
First, it is always curious to me why someone who wishes to be critical always finds the absolute worst picture and then uses that photo as the foundation for their entire argument.
I have always been fair in my assessment of Craig and at this show, he was in excellent condition. The photo used here is from the Finals. As most of you know, anytime a Pre-Judging and Finals are divided up into 2 different days, most competitors look much better at the pre-judging. There are a great many reasons for this which we can go into at another time.
Craig was in condition, the best in the 212 Division at both the Pre-Judging and Finals.
The photo used is absolutely the worst pose in Craig's entire line-up. He has never looked great at that pose.
May I suggest that someone post a rear double bi shot, a front lat spread or any other pose? If you want, you can even take it from the Finals but if you want to see glutes and conditioning, check all the other shots of Craig and also from the Pre-Judging.
It's been a long time since Craig came into a show dialed in but he did so here. This was the first time he worked with Chris Aceto who could not have been more professional and helpful.
Check out the photos and make your own decision.
And when Craig shows up in 2 weeks and wins the Chicago show, I hope you will be fair in your criticism.
And no matter what people say, at 41 years of age, he looks better than most people on the entire planet.

Dear Automation,
I understand that the new generation of Texters and Facebook sycophants not only need to announce there every movement, but also have no regard for grammar, correct English or diction.
Additionally, I find using transitional phrases and creating new paragraphs to be easier on the reader and conveys a clearer message.
Perhaps it is my old-school education or my job, but I don't think this country benefits by using poor grammar, slang that no rational person can understand nor by tolerating a refusal to earn so much as a High School Diploma.
But back to bodybuilding, I will get some of the photos I took of Craig throughout the days of the contest and ask my "computer guy" how to paste a photo up here.
And yes, I accept all the mocking of my inability to grasp simple state of the art technology. My head is still a bit in the sand but if it means giving you guys a fair shot at Craig, I'll do it.
NJFlex is correct in that I did train with Vinnie Galanti in his prep for the 1997 Nationals in Dallas when he took 4th Place (Sylvester Solomon won the class).
I also trained with a fellow named Darryl Perry (aka "Perry") who in my humble opinion, was Flex Wheeler before there was a Flex Wheeler. Back then, guys really did care about training legs hard and heavy and his legs were proof of that. Today's "Soccer Mom" gyms are a pathetic joke. Perry would have gone far but there was a political problem in his interactions with Shirley Kemper that after awhile, did not go over well with the political warlords of that day.
I also trained with Tom Shoebridge who was a very large competitor for that time as well as Rob Lopez who to this day, still has some of the best biceps and genetics you will ever see.
I am very privileged to have had these experiences and see so much of bodybuilding for so many years "from the other side of the rope." When I used to post here, my stories were often dismissed as hyperbole or outright lies so I just stopped. I liked having a forum where guys discussed lifting, dieting, bodybuilding and all things related to bodybuilding. We may be a small lunatic fringe of the sports world but it is our world and we like it and it matters to us. We do pretty well for ourselves when we focus on the central thread that brings us all to this forum.
