I got bit by a tick 4 years ago and the symptoms are killing me.Going off and on antibiotics are brutal.Did 6 weeks of doxy at 400mgs a day then got off and felt pretty good and after a month off all symptoms returned. So now back on doxy at 300 mgs a day for 8 weeks and im a week in and starting to feel a little better.Just curious if it will ever get better?Main symptoms are dizziness, ringing ears and brain flashes, along with extreme tiredness.taking all sorts of vitamins etc...It is nuero lyme ao much worse than regular lyme.

How long did you take before your first course of antibiotics? Did you catch it in the magic 3-weeks after the bite?
I haven't had it, but I live in fucking Lyme-central in NH. 80% of the deer ticks here test positive for Lymes. It's insane. A good friend got bit and almost immediately had symptoms so her doc put her on doxycycline and she had a bad reaction to that. Fucking crazy.
You need to work with your doc on varying the antibiotics. Also, make sure that you get a good endo because some other friends (a couple that BOTH have it) have gotten their hormones all fucked up because of it.
And to anybody else in the Northeast: ticks are NO FUCKING JOKE. Check your hair, ass-crack, under-balls, underarms once a day in the summer. The ticks need to be in for 24-48 hours and actively feeding for the virus to transmit, but it really easy to get to that point if you aren't paying attention.

Friend of mine had Lyme's and doctor missed it: now he got a partly paralyzed leg for the rest of his life.
Be careful dudes.....

Around here, the test is known to give false-negatives, so they go heavy on antibiotics as a precaution.

I found the tic on my under my right pec and not sure how long was there and was put on 3 weeks of doxy and that was it as i didnt worry about lyme and most doctors dont believe in lyme at all.Hard to find a doc that believes it has knowledge of it.they do a test and they test 12 things and i have all 12 after antibiotics went down to 9 now back up to 12,they say with chronic lyme if you can keep at 4-5 ur body ahould be able to keep it at bay.Luckily doxy doesbt fuck with me unless i forget to eat with it then i feel sick as hell.

There was a tick under your pec and you didn't notice it for 1-2 days?

Love to be one of these lucky ticks some day

The most famous one I can think of is Randy Travis and it REALLY seemed to fuck him up pretty bad.

A lot of people with this illness do well on a high fat, medium protein, zero carb diet (pretty much meat and water).

What started in Lyme CT was a government experiment to make people sick. To this day many "officials" say that Lyme disease doesn't exist. In the 90's many doctors said it doesn't exist. However, now most doctors are admitting there's a problem...

If you get bit early in spring nothing will happen because the ticks didn't have enough time to jump from host to host to get the disease.
I've gotten bitten multiple times (about eight) and I just pull them out.
If you do get bit, eventually you will see the bulls eye and that is a sign than you need to start taking medication. My neighbor got to the point that he got antibiotics too late but is now doing much better.
And, not for nothing, if a tick ends up under your ball sack is because you either 1) fucked outside in the park naked or 2) you put it there. Most often they bite as soon as they feel the heat in your leg or arm.
When going into your backyard, if there's a lot of deer activity, always wear a hat, a white shirt and light pants. This way you can spot the ticks as soon as you check yourself. It pays to have the property fenced-in and/or apply a shabby dose of deer repellent to the perimeter.
Deer ticks are a fucking nuisance.

Everything I could find about chronic Lyme disease, advised against long term use of antibiotics as a treatment for lingering symptoms. This makes sense to me. Long term use of antibiotics is harmful and could result in one having a resistance to antibiotics when they get this or other infections.

The problem with lyme disease is that it's the energizer bunny of diseases: It's keeps coming back, and back, and back.

Last time I was in Vermont a tick bit me, luckily I found it before it bit me bad.

Now I'm getting worried about a bug bite I got on my leg over the weekend while I was hiking. I assumed it was just a mosquito bite but it seems more red than a mosquito bite.
Does a tick bite normally itch like a mosquito bite?

Ticks don't bite. The dig in and suck blood. You're fine unless you see a bloated watermelon seed hanging off your "pec".

damn my heart goes out to you guys, women seem to get bit alot more then men

If you've had them, you shouldn't need to ask if they are insects or not.

I used the Blue Solution. Got tired of scratchin' at the bus stop.

Just check tics every day when you could have been exposed.
Remove them and there is no need for antibiotics....
