I'm only familiar with the NPC/IFBB ..... but among all those sanctioning bodies ... is anyone of them considered to be better than the others.
And would Calum be able to enter an IFBB event now that he is affiliated with the WFF? (Providing he qualifies of course.)

I can recall a Supreme Court Case (?) many years ago which decided that the NPC (or was it the AAU at that time) could not prevent a competitor who was a member of anohter sanctioning body from entering an NPC event, but the IFBB (professional) could do so.
Anyone recall that courrt decision precisely?
I think that this competitor would have a difficult time in an IFBB Pro Bodybuilding contest, but would do damn well as a Physique competitor .... which may be one reason why he does not compete within the IFBB ... which I personally feel would be to his advantage as a Physique compettitor.

The defendants, including the National Physique Committee of the U.S.A., Inc., The Southeastern Association of the National Physique Committee of the U.S.A, Inc., The Southeastern Physique Committee, the Tennessee Board of Advisors of the Southeastern Physique Committee, Mike Kizer and James Manion agree to continue their state policy of not imposing any sanctions upon or otherwise penalizing or punishing or threatening to impose any sanctions upon (or otherwise penalizing or interfering in any way with any persons on account of that persons' participation in any physique contest sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, Inc., ("The AAU"),) whether such person participates as an athlete, a promoter, a sponsor, or otherwise and will not condone, ratify, facilitate or permit such actions by any member or affiliate of the NPC for so long as the defendants (other than the NPC) remain as members or affiliates of the NPC. The defendants will take all steps reasonably necessary to remedy any violation of their stated policy as set forth above, which violation comes to their attention.
2. Defendants further agree to email a copy of this stipulation and order to the NPC's Board of Governors and an officer of the NPC shall certify that such mailing has been accomplished within (30) days of this stipulation and order.
3. The AAU agrees to maintain its stated policy of not enforcing Section 454.10(a) of its 1982 Official code.
4. All claims for relief contained in the complaint and answer and counter-claim are withdrawn with prejudice and without cost to any party against another.
5. The preliminary injunction previously entered and signed on June 3, 1982, is hereby dissolved and the bond posted by the plaintiffs in connection with that order and the preliminary injunction is hereby exonerated.
6. This stipulation shall not be deemed an adjudication of liability against or an admission of liability by any party.

ROB, To the best of recollection, that was sort of how it was supposed to be back then and how it was expected to be later on (sort of) .....but I forget the exact year that 'back then' was and after that "back then" date, everything changed gradually to how it is today.
(It would be interesting to see sequential shots of the various BB winners over the years to see how it all gradually changed from 'back then' to the present.)
And this could possibly be one of the main reasons why Physique competitions were initiated within the NPC for amateur competitors and then into the IFBB for the Pros.
This competitor (Colum) would give any Physique competitor, pro or amateur, within any organization a tuff run for the overall trophy.
And it would be damn interesting to see him 'size up' a bit and see how he would do within an IFBB Pro BB contest.
I think that will eventually happen.

TIM, Thanks once again ..... but I seem to recall that somehow the IFBB (being a sanctioning body for professional bodybuilders) was somehow exempt and could refrain from allowing non-IFBB competitors to enter IFBB events.
(I don't recall how one qualified to enter an IFBB Pro show back then and I can't recall ever hearing about an IFBB Amateur contest that would serve as an IFBB Pro Qualifier.)

the US lawsuit only covered the AAU and the NPC. While the NPC is IFBB amateur org for the USA, IFBB amateur orgs in other country still threaten their athletes with lifetime bans if they compete in another org. Canada did it a while back. Asian countries do it all the time. Much harder to do in Europe. Here in the US WNBF tried banning a bunch of athletes a few years ago for competing in other orgs, but eventually backed down.
The pro IFBB, being a for profit private org, can determine who they want to allow to enter their contests, and IFBB pros certainly can't compete in other pro orgs. Until very recently, the pro IFBB would ban you even if you guest posed at a non IFBB affiliated event. Weider was notorious at banning people for life. That's why Nubret went and created WABBA. Lee Priest was banned from IFBB, so then he went to NABBA.

We have a ton of federations here in Europe, and many of them are founded by frustrated ex-officials from other organisations like the IFBB & NABBA. Not all of them have a long lifespan, since many founders act bossy..
The IFBB has the 'classic bodybuilding' class in Europe, so yes.

Looking good by having a good face is a bonus. I believe that there should be stage for every type of physique; you can't satisfy everyone with a specific standard. Someone like Calum has an audience, but so does Branch Warren.

"Beauty" is analogous to "aesthetics", which *is* a very important part of classical bodybuilding (look at Sev).
Today's bloated toads, standing 5'4" @ 275 and 5% BF are at the other side of the spectrum.
This guy could bring back some respectability to bodybuilding (and maybe a few hetero chicks).

I was referring to facial beauty (see my original post on the previous page). This may be marketable (sponsor contracts), but competitive BBing should be about judging someone's physique. Will they judge on faces during other judged sports like (ice) dancing, diving, etc? No.
You can bring up bloated guts, but I wasn't saying anything about that.
The majority of women will find him too muscular/vascular. You prefer mainstream bodybuilding? Then focus on shows with solid drug tests.

Flex Lewis had a similar issue when he was a jnr, he went the nabba route as you get to do the nabba jnr europe/world/universe then the efbb gave him a load of shit when he went to enter the efbb jnr's , I'm sure it went to court and they had to let him enter, sure his sponsors ( cnp ) put alot of of pressure on at the time too
