Sitting on Aaron Singerman's kitchen table now.

Were you not tempted Vince?

$10,000 for a Sandow. Not bad.

I think he ended up paying $7,000 cause whoever bought it for $9,999 bailed and the seller told Aaron he could have it.

"I own a Sandow. It finally arrived last night. I opened the box up like a kid on Christmas. Tearing through tons of bubble wrap to uncover him. Some of you might be wondering why I would buy this... Why buy a trophy I didn't earn? There are two answers to this. One is, what you are looking at is bodybuilding history. Only 13 men have won the Mr. Olympia, and of those Sandows given out this might be the only one in circulation and not on the mantle of one of those 13 men. I bought it because it represents the pinnacle of achievement in the sport I've loved since I was a teenager and before. To me this solid brass statue is art. The second reason is because I did EARN this. Not in the way one might normally win Sandow, but in my own way. As a Jewish skinny teenager I knew I'd never stand onstage as the best bodybuilder in the world having Joe Weider hand me one. I was realistic enough at a young age to know better. That said, ironically I figured out a way to make it happen though other kinds of achievement within the sport and industry of bodybuilding. To me this Sandow doesn't represent the ultimate achievement in bodybuilding, but it most certainly represents achievement no one thought was possible... Even me! Lol. I love bodybuilding and where ever I am in live, I'll always have this amazing trophy to honor and look back on and remember where I came from. Because without bodybuilding I wouldn't be here."

I believe the sculpture is a bronze, not brass. Different composition of metals. Plus the bronze has a patina to give it the colour it has.
Not all Mr Olympias were awarded a Sandow but some received more than one as we know.

The only Jew to touch the Sandow trophy other than Joe Weider handing it to a thonged warrior of course

This is just wasteful.
I don't really say bad things about people, but Singerman has lost his marbles.
He will be broke before too long.
-
i bought this and it only cost me $369 on ebay.

Who won this sandow? Samir, Dickerson, Coleman?

No, real translation: "I bought it because I know I don't have the genetics nor the constitution to become a Mr. Olympia. And this is a conversation piece, where I can tell unsuspecting people that I won an award."

instead of saving money for his kids future he blows it on this
Definitely a scumbag father move

Does anyone know whose this was?
Even on antique roadshow the first questions are something along the lines of knowing the history.

Nice, got a link for another one? :P

I don't get why someone would buy something like that, when the value in it is from winning the thing, not buying it off ebay. Seems like a pointless waste of money.
I have some documents signed by various historical figures, one of them being Hitler. Don't ask me why, it's just something you may find interesting and want to own. I don't really agree with him buying it, but to each their own I guess.
-
It's a little PR stunt from Aaron, trying to ingratiate himself with the bodybuilding world. I'm sure he's also using it as a not-so subtle reminder that Blackstone Labs is so wildly successful that he can drop 7-10k on an otherwise useless sculpture without batting an eye.
-
so this isn't one of the actual sandows won onstage? This is just one of the extras? I'm confused.
If it's just a statue that can command thousands, will they start selling more of them?
-
Here was my thought on it's origins from a week or two ago -
"Another thing is that he has a Cyr trophy which is/was used at the Arnold Classic, chances are that the Sandow and the Cyr came from the same person. I'm thinking it's from Ben Weider's estate. He'd have easy access to an extra Sandows, and was a huge admirer of Cyr, so he's was bound to have an original Cyr trophy or copies.
Indeed, there is even a picture of Ben Weider with a similar or exact Cyr trophy here on the upper left -

Historical items make sense... It's history after all... history of mankind.

True... He'll be selling it for 1/2 value at this rate before the end is here.

whatabout thongs signed by bodybuilders ???
it's kinda like a pair of boxing gloves.

Maybe it's leased like the exotic car they had to 'sell' at end of the year as to not lose too much money.

When you don't have the phyisque nor talent to win it, the next best thing is to buy it.

"The good news is I had an expert come in, and look at it, and it's real. The bad news is that if I buy it, I've got to wait for the right guy to come along and buy it. And in the meantime, I've to have Chumlee come around and shoe the schmoes away, and dust off the jizz and fingerprints. Tell you what, I can go $350, a night at the Mirage, and any Swatch you want from the case over there....".

According to the seller there was a non-disclosure clause. The buyer might have been told after buying it but would have had to also agree not to disclose who the champion was.
If Aaron knows he isn't telling Goodrum.

This is a pathetic attempt to prove how "successful" he is.

Looks brass to me same metal on a gerber shower valve body. A chinese knockoff

This idiot bought a replica brass statue

Really Aaron? You EARNED it? How.. buy selling dangerous prohormones that have given kids lifetime side-effects.
Sure, sure.. yes, you EARNED it for sure.
Geez

He didn't earn anything, anyone could have bought that
-
Anyone interested in selling their Musclemania trophy? I'd love to put it next to my floor fan as a conversation starter.
-

The comments on his Instagram mostly commend him for earning it. Clearly a different crowd posting there.

Yes. A crowd of nut hugging buffoons.
This is like getting a "participation" award, but not because you did anything, but because you bought the ribbon for your kid.
He just keeps doing dumber and dumber things with his money.
This one takes the cake though... maybe the dumbest thing I've heard of.

Bronze used in sculpture can be composed of many substances to attain various desired qualities. It is even possible to get a gold colour if mixed with the right metals.
The Sandow has a patina and often then get waxed to prevent oxidation. The patina can be a brown, black, green or gold colour.
Brass is copper with zinc while Bronze is copper with tin and other substances.

A lot of hate for a guy who just bought (assuming it is kosher) a piece of bodybuilding memorabilia.
People do this all the time in all types of popular culture. A Sandow represents the pinnacle of bodybuilding achievement so to look at this and be inspired makes perfect sense to me. It doesn't mean he thinks he is Mr O, it is just a beautiful statue that was part of history and one man's moment of greatness.
I wouldn't want Philsulin's trophy or ghetto Dex, but something from my heroes like Haney / Bannout would speak to the teenage bodybuilder still lurking inside me.

Only gay if you want it to be.

Sure, but he said he EARNED it. Big difference between being a collector Bob, and as someone else said "buying the red participation ribbon" and claiming you were on the team.
Hope this helps.
-
Didn't everybody hate this kid's guts when he was "reporting" for RX Muscle?
I remember his articles. He has the grammatical capacity of a middle schooler, yet nobody was cognizant of this and the pieces were never proofread properly.

The Smokey & the Bandit Trans Am was auctioned off for about half a million bucks recently. If I'd wanted it and could afford to drop that amount of money in an indulgence surely I can think I have earned it via my hard work and feel proud that I can invest in something that gives me a buzz?
It's not the same as "earning" it the real way, but earning your cash so that you can pay homage to something that inspires you seems to me to allow one to write "I've earned it". He didn't come out and try to put himself on par with a Mr O winner I assume?
-
Say what you will, but buying a trophy for a pastime which, at its core, involves taking lots of drugs and dying young, takes a special kind of retard.
