Today, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who as of-late has gone relatively gaffe-free, uttered a phrase that may not go over too well with the constituency he seeks to reach. During an interview that was live-streamed on the app Periscope, Bush told New Hampshire’s “The Union Leader” that to grow the economy, “people should work longer hours.”
He was answering a question about his plans for tax reform and responded:
“My aspiration for the country and I believe we can achieve it, is 4 percent growth as far as the eye can see. Which means we have to be a lot more productive, workforce participation has to rise from its all-time modern lows. It means that people need to work longer hours” and, through their productivity, gain more income for their families. That's the only way we're going to get out of this rut that we're in.”
Already the Democratic National Committee has pounced, releasing a statement that calls his remarks “easily one of the most out-of-touch comments we’ve heard so far this cycle,” adding that Bush would not fight for the middle class as president.

After coming under fire, Bush clarified his comments. He meant to say that people who are now working part-time should have full-time hours if they want it. ::)

These are the statements that get Republicans in trouble and make it seem like they are delusional and out of touch with the average American.....the number of gaffes by Conservative candidates keeps growing
which reminds me....anybody see Rand Paul around lately???

Great idea Lurker.....I would say we should make a sticky containing all the gaffes by Republican candidates, but I think you're right...Jeb may need a thread just for him........ as will Trump :D

Trump makes inflammatory comments, but Jeb makes some that are flat out stupid. Like he looks to Dubya for foreign policy advice. Way to establish your stupidity Jeb.

If he means part timers need to work more hours he's right. Most young 20 somethings (the ones I know) won't work full time. They room together and all work as little as possible. Some are forced to work full time because they have bastard kids but for the most part they are all part timers or are perpetually enrolled in school with no prospects of employment.
It will not be a good world when my generation takes over.

exactly....some of president Obama's detractors have pointed out his vacations......and historically he has taken less vacations than his predecessors.....

Shows how just out of touch Jeb really is with the average person.
Maybe he should have encouraged his own family to work longer hours. Then maybe at least ONE of them wouldn't be a criminal and have an existing record.

What is your take on these numbers Coach and HH6?
Are they "fake" like the unemployment numbers?

any numbers which show Obama in a positive light will be deemed fake so as to maintian their delusions

Meanwhile the exact same source of those numbers will be deemed credible and absolute when they reflect favorable for a Republican.
