Title: Robby strikes a pose once again.
Post by: da_vinci on August 02, 2015, 04:50:55 PM
EDIT: new pic at the end of the thread.

It blows my mind every time I see his updates, it just doesn't get old:

(https://scontent-ams2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/11811519_1205950926097650_2714285104476550212_n.jpg?oh=e9cee957128b6495458cdfdbf90d99a5&oe=56504D9B)

Says he feels about 28-30, physically.

"MIKE , THANKS . THIS IS MY JOURNEY. I AM HAVING FUN CHASING MY DREAM, AS I'VE AGED. I REALLY AM AMAZED WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH A OLDER PHYSIQUE...IF YOU HAVE PRACTICE A HEALTHY BODYBUILDING LIFE STYLE FOR 27 YEARS. AS A COMPETITOR. AGE POWERS, EMPOWERS THE AGED MINDSET. THE IMPOSSIBLE, IS POSSIBLE. RR-HAS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. I AM ENJOYING EVERY MOMENT PASSIONATELY. WITH A HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE…."

Impressive physique and impressive vital organ genetics.

Too bad most people don't have this luck and end up with a fried kidney or two after a couple decades of doing what he's been doing for almost half a century.

Dorian Yates compared steroids to smoking cigarettes in some people can smoke 3 packs a day for life and nothing happens and others die of lung cancer from second hand smoke. The thing is you don't know what type you are until you're knee deep in doing it. risk-vs-reward.

I think guys like Robbie relied on less usage because he never competed at really heavy body weights.

Get it?  Switch "AFRICAN AMERICAN" and insert "HEBREW ISRAELITE"  That is our pre-slave "ethnicity".  Were were known as HEEBOS from the Kingdom of Yahuda.  In English that's Hebrews from the tribe of Judah.

This is just as much racist bullshit as any KKK propaganda. As if the people of Africa is one race. There are many very different ethnic groups in Africa. Just because you have a dark skin-tone, you are not one race. Are you saying people from Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, Somalia or from the plains in Zambia are one race? Nonsense!

I think he has at least a daughter, probably divorced long ago (or never married). Anyway... he's blessed to be able to survive like that, only secelt few can enjoy that kind of life at his age. Pretty much nothing can bother you when you are in a great physical shape/health, regardless of age.

He looks impressive  hard to believe he is 69....

However he has asked/demanded too much from his body .... Imagine putting your joints, tendons, muscles etc under the stress of lifting ,pushing and pulling for over 50 years non stop  !!

In other words he has to be in a lot of pain when he gets up in the morning,  or when he gets home after a workout or everyday regular activities  taking pain killers advil, motrin etc

Even the pro's after 40 do it,  they just wont say it to the public.

I've red/saw multiple times him saying that he hasn't had any serious injuries ever and has no pain, and it's obvious from the vids he's still lifting heavy, even at his age. I doubt you'd make it to 70 while on painkillers constantly.
You think Ohearn is on pain killers too? Dude is lifting crazy heavy and is over 45. I don't buy it. They are healthy livin' maniacs, wouldn't take that route imho. Must be genetics of gods and meticulously throught out strategy of homonal/nutritional/physical means. What is interesting - what is actually working that good to keep these tissues healthy and injury/pain free for so long.

edit: I've been doing crazy heavy behind the neck barbell presses for many years, yet I don't have a slighest discomfort because of that, and I know plenty of guys who strated with me, but can't use even a half of that weight already. It depends.

I'll post it again, My Mum is 72, crippled from osteoarthritis and in near intractable pain and struggles to walk to the letterbox, she would give her right arm to have the physical capacity that Robby still has.

She is on high dose narcotics just to get through a day, getting out of a chair causes her unbearable pain, given the option between that and Robby's predicament, I know which one I would opt for.

LOL ... I have an idea how pro athletes feels after 20 plus years  of intense trainer, and bodybuilders are extremely obsessed with "training their bodies" does it take a toll on the body? it sure does....  but your'e right , maybe he does feel great... with 55 years of training under his ribs.

I hope he does (Arnold's voice)

What league are you a pro in?

You really think it's possible at almost 70 to be doing this if in a lot of pain/constant painkillers?

I'll post it again, My Mum is 72, crippled from osteoarthritis and in near intractable pain and struggles to walk to the letterbox, she would give her right arm to have the physical capacity that Robby still has.

She is on high dose narcotics just to get through a day, getting out of a chair causes her unbearable pain, given the option between that and Robby's predicament, I know which one I would opt for.

Anybody critical of Robby is just plain JEALOUS.

Youre going to the extreme of both ends ....

Yes, you have average people (specially women) that didnt dedicated their life to Physical activities deteriorating with age....

My point is, Say you get a retired MLB pitcher (after 20 plus years of abusing his throwing arm) he walks away from pro baseball at the fairly young age of 40 he does exercise, stays in shape enjoy life etc and don't have joints pains and all that uncomfortable crap that comes with wear and tear....

Bodybuilders go to a doctor when (they can't take it anymore) and when the doctor tells them to stop they wont just listen  , yes they look "healthy" and muscular but you'll be surprised they can't even do regular stuff of everyday life  (when no camera is around) because of  constant pain all over their body ..... again, Hope Robby feels great (no jealousy here)    lol

To be fair, my Mum was  a career nurse and she says her problem was made much worse by the constant heavy lifting they did.  Nursing is tough on the body when it comes to lifting patients (well it was back in the day before technology caught up).  It is hard to use good form when performing the types of awkward lifts the nurses used to do.  She only stopped working about six years ago, her deterioration has been quite rapid unfortunately.  Osteoarthritis is a bitch.

"Nice try" at what ???  I think you may have misunderstood.

You said "I have an idea how pro athletes feels after 20 plus years  of intense trainer"; poor grammer aside, does this not imply you have some personal experience with the matter?

Most athletes who have trouble physically in retirement have had some sort of traumatic injury.  The evidence for intensive physical activity being beneficial for health and overall well-being, at any age, is overwhelming.  It absolutely does not cause chronic pain as a general rule.

People with labor-heavy occupations (or especially if they spend a lot of time kneeling/squatting) often have a high risk for osteoarthritis.

Interestingly it's not very common at all in runners, who load the hell out of their legs.  There are things to consider here.

My Mum was mad gardener also, always kneeling and squatting.  So when she wasn't working and raising five kids and it's associated tasks she was always in the garden, often lifting heavy rocks and branches and the like, even though we would tell her off as she got older, my Mum is old school stubborn.

I get that point, but Robby's phyisque alone would make it appear he's not dealing with anything major.

Light weight training and moderate drug use wouldn't be crippling.

Some old Bodybuilders still look like the can bench 400 lbs but they cant put their cars  seat belt on without having pain in joints.

1- English is my 2nd language LOL

2- I have  experience with the matter both personal and with athletes (close friends)Hall of famers  from several sports, .

3- I'm not talking about "any age " Lifting weighs over 30 years non stop will pass you the bill later in life (specially if you look like Robby R)

Here's Robby in his early 40's

He had chronic pain in one of his shoulders ..... However,  does he look better than a 25 year old regular Joe  ?  Hell YES

Now he's 70 and probably wish he felt the same way when he was 40  lol .

Impressive physique and impressive vital organ genetics.

Too bad most people don't have this luck and end up with a fried kidney or two after a couple decades of doing what he's been doing for almost half a century.

He was never a heavy user of steroids. In fact he has stated that at his heaviest he was around 210 and usually walked around lighter than that.

In one of his reccent comments in FB he emphasized that he feels 28.
I personally know a fella who has been a powerlifter for about 30-35 years, currently 55, still can squat a weight I could not imagine even unracking, and guess what... he has NO pain, nor his knees, nor his back, works a construction job through the day, climbs the ladders, etc... Some people just are gifted, simple as that.

appearance vs reality

If Robby was in pain all they (at the age of 70) but  looking that GOOD as he do ... I doubt he will admit it .... People "fans" go by appearance in bodybuilding and nothing more .

He looks like shit, a typical fatso powerlifter, you hardly could guess he lifts with clothes on. Not even on drugs for the past 10 years or so. It still blows my mind when I see ppl like that, some are already crippled by that age while these are wondering whether they should add another plate to 550lb on a barbell after a long day at physical job (like a said fella).

Bingo that's exactly my point.

On the other hand you have people in marvelous shape Ferrigno in his 60's and late Nubret (when was on his 60's) with lots of joints, wrist, hips, elbows you name it , and tendons pain Although they sell the "fountain of youth theory" based on looks ....Father time will get you one way or the other.....

I guess I've been around long enough not to judge by appearance no more .

The thing is - dude has been beating jis joints beyond any sane limits for more than half of his life yet remains pain/injury free. It's amazing how people can differ in their physical features/experience regarding this stuff.
