Point taken, however I'm sure she didn't eat the giraffe.

She needs to have herself photographed with a dead panda or camel or a Clydesdale to balance the pics with the lion and water buffalo.

LMAO at the impotent rage of the anonymous internet warrior. And you think you'll do her violence? Haha! She kills things. With guns. You'll just be another round downrange with not even a second thought. She doesn't give a fuck about you or your phony outrage.

Oh, and there's probably a man with her. A real man. Who will protect her with the kind of violence you can only dream about. And will skull fuck your lifeless body after.

And lastly, she dropped a couple hundred thousand on trophy taxes on that hunt. So she's done more for conservation of African wildlife than you will do in a hundred lifetimes.

Deal with it.

Here is th thing. Chances are what you seeing is that she is asserted that she needs no man, because she knows how to shoot. Another thing is shooting animals is different from shooting a human. How many of those people have killed someone?
Another thing is, big game hunters mentality, in today's world. There is no need for Big Game hunting, unless it's a rogue elephant or a lion or tiger that has turned to man eating.
It's about the ego, and the insecurity of the person. Domination and control over nature. Looking at one's self as being outside of nature instead of being part of it.

That's your opinion only. Some hunters consider themselves as part of the wheel of life and the ultimate in game conservationists. What would you say if a game park only gave hunting permits to species that were over-populated and were having food-scarcity issues? Would you look at it the same? What do you say to the park rangers that have to go out and machine-gun entire herds to save the species on the park? Are they more or less morally defective than the man (or woman) that pays for the privilege?

The parks don't give permits out for endangered species. And they know how many of a species can survive on the park with the limited resources. In all cases, a legal, permitted hunt is a cull that provides income to the park.

But then, you wouldn't know anything about that, because all you see is a haze of moral righteousness that is colored by your myopic ethno-centrist view of the world. Grow up and get out and see the rest of the world.

x2. lol at actually thinking that shooting a human being is the same as shooting a giraffe from 100 yards out while it eats leaves from a tree :D :D I tell you, gun/hunting nutters have a warped sense of perception.

Hundreds of years ago, people hunted widlife for food, shelter (clothes), religious reasons. There was a deep meaning behind the kill. A show of respect.

Now, you just have a bunch of insecure morons posting pics on facebook of an animal they killed from 100 yards out. lol at thinking these people actually care about wildlife preservation lol. If it was all about wildlife preservation, they would feel no need to post a picture of themselves with a huge smile for people to see. They would kill the animal with the idea that they are doing something for wildlife, and move on. But all the theatrics associated with hunting is purely for egotistical reasons, and has little to do with actual preservation efforts.

I've been around hunters, I've been on a deer hunt when I was a kid. I know hunters.

Here is the thing, giraffes are not as plentiful as say gnus (wilderbeasts), they are big game. And a lot of these African countries are corrupt, if a rich person wants to pay a fee, they will take it. And then you have to look at how much money is going to game preserves by the local and national agencies.
How do you think elephants and rhinos get killed and chopped up by poachers?

Park rangers who go out and machine gun herds to cull them might want to take another approach. Like taking a certain number and transferring them to another country whose stock is low, and said game reserve in that country could transfer stock that the first game reserve is low on. Overpopulation if it is a prey species usually means that there is not enough predator species around. If reserves gave licenses to hunters to kill them, and the food was used to feed them and the locals, I could see that.

Big game hunters don't consider themselves part of the wheel of life, they are after big game, it's about the trophy aspect, about the ego.

Also, being part of the wheel of life, there was a balance in the states, until in the early to mid 20th century hunters went hard and killed off tons of grey and red wolves, foxes, cougars, Lynxes, Bobcats, Hawks, eagles etc. predators. These all kept certain prey in check---a balance. And now, with far less predators and far more prey species---squirrels, deer, etc we need hunting seasons. Man has to now play the predator role due to killing off the actual predators.

Also, look at what happened to the passenger pigeon. It has been said that the flocks were so big that they numbered in the billions, and took hours to pass by. And what did hunters do? They basically killed off the flocks. Same for the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, and I believe for the Carolina Parakeet as well (that was also due to habitat loss as well, I think).

I've known people who've  hunted and killed many different birds and exotic  animals,  but never have I heard of a giraffe hunt. She should be commended.

I'm sure there are many hunters who do but I think in this case and in the majority of big game hunting (such as the killing of Cecil), it's purely just done for egotistical reasons - the posing with dead animal highlights this. The animal is just viewed as a trophy for these guys.

x2. If they ONLY cared about preservation and wildlife, then why post those pictures of them smiling and posting it on FB? Before, FB, people still hunted and killed, thus posting a picture of yourself next to a dead giraffe does absolutely nothing for wildlife. Its done purely for egotistical reasons. I can't think of any other reason to post a picture, except to receive admiration from millions of people, so the person can feel proud.

Derp.

People have posed with pictures of their kills for hundreds of years; as long as there has been cameras.

People didn't post to Facebook and Instagram back then because they didn't exist.

Yes, but now its overwhelming. Its kind of like with fighting and boxing. Sure, people took pictures back then, but now every MMA and boxer think hes a badass, posting hundreds, if not thousands of pictures of themselves. Its a whole different mentality compared to hundreds of years ago.

haha lol. You deduced that because they like to hunt? Wow. Yes, because hunting an animal from 100 yards automatically equates to being a "real" man and being able to inflict violence the likes of which no one has ever seen lol. You hunting nutters have a warped sense of perception. I am not too sure how hunting equals being a man and having a propensity for violence toward another person. How did you made that jump from "They like to hunt" to "Therefoe, they are a real man and have propensity of violence toward another human?" But, hey, whatever makes you sleep better at night.  :D :D

I know, I know, you're just trolling, and really don't mean any of this  :-\ :-\ ::) ::) :D :D

Obviously, this guy must be a true man! Someone who would inflict acts of violence upon you, which has never been seen before.  :D :D

Yes, but now its overwhelming. Its kind of like with fighting and boxing. Sure, people took pictures back then, but now every MMA and boxer think hes a badass, posting hundreds, if not thousands of pictures of themselves. Its a whole different mentality compared to hundreds of years ago.

That just might have more to do with the ubiquity of cameras (as phones) than a marked increase in desire to have ones achievements (however defined) immortalized in society's record-of-choice.

...literally is holding the crappiest pistol in the world. The Colt All-American. I thought that they were all dumped into a landfill someplace along with the Colt engineer that green-lit them. Zero ergonomics, a gritty 20-pound trigger pull and a strange centrifugal recoil really made this dud special.

Well, they know how to use a rifle, can track in the African bush and have no problem killing things. All of these make them much more likely to survive than the average pudgy progressive retard flailing with nunchuks at her head.

But that is the not your original premise. Your original statement was that if someone tried to commit violence against that women, she would have a real man to protect her and inflict violence the likes of which we have never seen on the perpetrator. We are not talking about surviving in the jungle. We are talking about surviving in "real life." Thus, the idea that you think because he can hunt in the jungle and kill there, that he will be able to ward off an attacker in "real life" is ridiculous. Sure, he may be able to protect her in the jungle, but on the streets is a whole different ball game. You're assuming because he hunts, this provides him with a unique skill set to inflict violence the likes of which has never been seen before. Maybe in the jungle, but probably not so much in "real life."

One, killing a human being is fundamentally different than killing a peaceful giraffe eating some leaves off a tree 100 yards away.

Second, there are probably millions of gang members who inflict violence on others, the likes of which would never be seen or experienced by your average backward hunter. I highly doubt the crips are off hunting in some jungle.

Conclusion: Your statement that "who will protect her with the kind of violence you can only dream about" is erroneous. There is no good reason to believe that hunters will be any more or less violent than someone who doesn't hunt, just because they can kill a giraffe 100 yards out with a rifle.

lol. Again, there is no reason to believe that because he hunts "he can inflict violence upon the likes of which has never been seen before." Did you see the video of the grandma opening fire on house intruders? I suspect that she has never hunted a day in her life. Target shooting at the local gun range will provide you with enough skills to take out an intruder. It did for the grandma. You don't need to be a badass hunter to inflict VIOLENCE THE LIKES OF WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!! I am sorry, but every time I read that line I just crack up. Her husband or bf is not any more deadly than the average "joe" because hes a hunter.  :D :D Hell, I only go shooting a few times a year, and Id probably be able to shoot someone who was coming at me, and I don't hunt.

Man, those hunters must be DEADLY weapons. They should register their hands as "LETHAL WEAPONS!!!"  :D :D lol at assuming because someone is trained to kill in the jungle, they are trained killers like a Navy Seal would be LMAO!! Demonstrably different types of "trained killers."

Go shoot your gun, bible boy, and you will feel better.  :D :D

Exactly. As the world population increases, there will be a greater and greater scarcity of food. It is predicted this will lead to catastrophic outcomes.

I guess by that notion we need to kill off a few million humans.

x2. lol at actually thinking that shooting a human being is the same as shooting a giraffe from 100 yards out while it eats leaves from a tree :D :D I tell you, gun/hunting nutters have a warped sense of perception.

Gotta agree with SF here. It takes a pretty fucked up person to hunt an animal that isnt a prey animal (aka, an animal that doesnt flee most likely), and then post it on social media like they did something respectable. I was traumatized one day as a kid, was watching jimmy houston fishing show and the next show came on was some ass clowns using dogs to tree a cougar, then walked up under the tree and blasted it. Even as a kid at age 10 or so, i remember how disturbing that was, and even at a young age just had a feeling that someting aout that was not in the least sporting, fun, or responsible. That shit stuck with me, so these big game gun nerds in their tactical goofy ass gear can fuck off. . I do know some responsible and ethical hunters who ARE concerned about conservation and limits and ecology and support these causes and hunt for food. These texas ass clowns are not one of them. Its kind of like comparing MMA scum bags to professional boxers. They just dont compute, its almost like two totally different cultures between these big game hunter dorks and actual hunters who live the lifestyle of conservation/sustainability.

The guy who killed Cecil the lion lured the lion out by attaching a piece of meat to a car. He also shot it with a bow and it suffered for 40 hours before it was killed. How the hell is that ethical hunting? Also, he killed a lion that was being studied by Oxford. The lion was collared. Out of all the lions to kill, he picks the one that is collared and being studied.

Yet, for some reason, hunting nutters feel that all of this is perfectly fine. Very strange bunch of people.

To make it worse, some people here think because this worthless whore can shoot a peaceful animal from 100m away it makes them 'tough' haha. I'd smash her husband to within an ince of his life and not break any sweat.

I have zero issues with hunting for food. It's not the nicest of ideas but that's life. That's nature. I eat meat so I'm not going to get on a high horse. But killing for 'fun', from a distance like a pussy then posting for other brainless fuckwits to 'admire' should have both your achilles heals cut and left out in the African bush. Hell, kill a lion with a knife or bare hands and I'd grudgingly admire you.

I've been on a safari. I've been 40m away from a pride of lions. If I had a gun and 2 brain cells, I could've drawn a bead of the biggest one there and pulled the trigger. Hey, apparently that would've made me a 'real man'  ::)

False and wrong. Only something a short shithead like yourself would come up with.

If you had a passing knowledge of population dynamics you'd know that nature self-regulate. The amount of lions increase, prey would decrease, as available prey decrease, lion numbers would decrease, as lion numbers decrease, prey would increase, ad infinitum.

Only a fuckwit would think humans are needed to look out for nature. The best you can do is to look out for yourself. Nature was fine for 13 billion years before your dumbass came along, it still wouldn't need your dumbass opinions for the next 13 billion.

Genius. Nature "self-regulates" by allowing species to starve. Quite the humanitarian you are, preferring that the animals die in agony over weeks than allowing them to be hunted.

Yes moron, not unlike thousands of people dying daily in agony of all sorts of diseases. That's life. It's when you idiots think that playing God is ok, fuck ups happen. If lions are going to die in agony and hunger of a loss of prey, I would not feel sorry for them, that is nature. That is how nature regulates herself. That's how it keeps numbers in control. But I would always allow them free choice. Choice is not being shot by a fucking coward from a million miles away for Facebook 'likes'. Now let's be honest, if it was one dead lion, she's still a c'unt for doing it but nothing will really change. But people thinking it's ok and doing it for sport. You're fucking with nature. And nature has a way of fucking back with you.

You're not brave. You're the worst fucking coward.
!!!!! My thoughts too neegul. I cant comprehend how they think they are awesome, thats why this topic is popular, such a huge lagg of normal reasoning

Wow. So suffering is irrelevant; all that matters is which animal James feels sorry for.

Bitchen.

Genius. Nature "self-regulates" by allowing species to starve. Quite the humanitarian you are, preferring that the animals die in agony over weeks than allowing them to be hunted.
 ::)

Sounds like a guy who sits by watching his beloved Fido suffer bone cancer, waiting for nature to take its horrifically long and miserable course. Awesome.

Same used to happen with dinosaurs, except for the 'ad infinitum' bit

X2 Well said that man.

We already do, pal. We euthanize our pets, we hunt/cull, etc., intervening to alleviate unnecessary suffering. The universe is an indifferent, merciless bitch; why not help where we are able?

If you get satisfaction out of taking a defensless animals life minding its own business then youre a psychopath.

I've seen a video of her husband posted killing a leopard....a carcass tied to a tree and they wait, the leopard trying to eat the free meal gets shot in the head....that'd not hunting IMO. Furthermore they try and hunt with arrows...for more thrill, the animal most times suffers for a while before dying...Cecil was found 40 hours later after he was shot with an arrow.

I value animals more than human life, to me those lions and giraffes are more purposeful to the planet than their existence.

You are contradicting yourself.  If you believe in God/Jesus, then you believe that god created humans in his likeness which means people are playing God.

The vast majority of these big game hunters like Walter Palmer and this woman are not trained soldiers with any real-life battle experience.
It's not like we are looking at ex-special forces who spent several years fighting on the frontline in Basra.

All these hunters have done is gone on Safari and with the help of several guides, shot dead an unsuspecting animal from hundreds of metres away. They might be quite handy with a firearm in a controlled and safe environment but they certainly aren't "badass" enough to intimidate most people.

From the Onion  ;D ;D

Following the death of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe, many governments are beginning to question the ethics and fallout of trophy hunting as a sport, while others say the arguments against it are overblown. The Onion breaks down the pros and cons of big-game hunting:

PRO

Gives animal kingdom stern reminder about who’s top dog
Get to be one of very few people to experience raw, primal exhilaration of being reviled by tens of millions of people
Lot of empty wall space in apartment
    Killing fun
Chance of being killed by lion drastically reduced once they are extinct
Part of time-honored tradition that dates all the way back to humankind’s earliest assholes

CON

Shoulder pain from recoil of elephant gun
Already hard enough for female lions to find decent mate
    Taxidermists often get eyes wrong
Bizarre sexual gratification of murdering large game can only satisfy for so long before you must turn to humans
Lion’s next of kin only get small portion of hunting fee
When people ask “Do you shoot defenseless animals with metal arrows, wait until they bleed out, and then stuff their remains for decoration?” the answer is “Yes”

AJ is a good dude but I've noticed there are certain topics which really seem to bring out the worst in him and he loses all the objectivity he otherwise possesses. Reminds me of my dad in that sense - which isn't a good thing. :D

The thing is, I don’t even have anything against hunting under the correct circumstances (food, cull..etc) but shooting animals just for fun seems like a pointless and somewhat sadistic hobby. I struggle to see why anyone could find it enjoyable. What’s wrong with a shooting range?

Yes, I noticed AJ becomes grumpy during the following topics:

Guns
Hunting
Liberals
Religion

During these moments, AJ needs to sit down, relax, and have a glass of water. Perhaps hit the weights and let off steam.  :D :D It will serve him well.

AJ and I are both on the Northeast. I think its time we met up in person, had a beer, and talked through many of these things. I am hoping that I can reach him on some level.

ahhhh, yes, I forgot you were going to use this classic getbig line.

Well, to be honest, don't we all occupy spaces in each others minds when we log onto getbig? Once I log into getbig, I see all the threads where people have commented and where I am involved in a discussion with them. So I go there and talk. This will often lead me to continue to discuss an ongoing topic with the same people. So, yes, I guess you are "in my head."  ::) ::)

Once I log off and go do something else, I don't think about posters here.

So, really, we all occupy each others minds once we sign onto getbig. It becomes an issue if you're thinking about getbig once you log off.

Hope this helps, bible boy.  :D :D
