Considering a new position in the financial district and this gym is right next door...
http://www.equinox.com/clubs/boston/franklinst
Good God is it overdone. From the fucking twink shitbags on the thousands of ellipticals to the wood paneled showers. At least the DBs go to 110s, but even those have a thick dust layer on them. The GM that gave me a tour was a punchable manlet.
It may be necessary depending on my work/training/commute schedule.

I'm not big on commercial gyms but Equinox is (even though a bit expensive) would be worth it. As far as the most of the trainers go, they're well educated and well informed. They actually have workshops and spend big $$ to have guest speakers and trainers to come in periodically. Quite a few of the trainers and coaches that speak on the Perform Better circuit make their rounds quite a bit. (Not for bodybuilding though)

lol at people caring about gym "atmosphere." Trying to be like Branch Warren. ::) ::)
Ive trained in really fancy gyms and dumps. Ive gotten the same exact workout no matter where Ive gone. Same pump, lifted the same. Motivation was always the same.
Ive trained in a Planet Fitness and had the same workout as in any other gym I have trained in.

I'll be in Austin in 3 weeks. I'll have to check that out. Right after Onnit and Metroflex

Never been to onnit.
Mextroflex isn't really in Austin city limits. So it is a little far away from me. Great gym tho.
Another "hardcore" yet smaller gym is big tex gym. Never been there either. But I hear good things. I'll stick with my fluffy golds gym. Thank you anyway ;D

AJ, that commute is going to be horrific... I get weekly job offers from head hunters on LinkedIn for Boston, Cambridge, Waltham, etc...
I work in Lowell (at the old Wang Computer building), that's as far as Ill go ever again. (Its even too far now).
I guess some people don't mind the drive/traffic though, good luck to you if you take it..

I think this may be a coded message. "Head hunters" "old Wang" this post could be asking for sexual relations.

Why don't you concentrate on trying to succeed at your new position and worry less about how "hardcore" the gym is?

Great for him having a job then: He should fixate on that!
Way to impress in the financial district showing up with a gym bag and protein shakes.

I use the gym as a stress reliever. It is very important to my success.

Welcome to our remarkable space in Boston’s financial district. The spiral staircase, chandelier, 18-foot windows and vaulted skylight ceilings give Franklin's training floors, group fitness studios and spa an abundance of natural light and sleek character.
All very nice and dandy, but what about the golden toiletseat?

I agree.
I join equinox every so often (corporate deal - no initiation fees). Gym/locker always clean, latest equipment, and all trainers were top notch.

Kiehl's products rule and will leave your butthole smelling of essence of coconut if you wash with the shampoo.
And, bodybuilding related as bodywash is grapefruit.

And I did see some fine, tight female ass in there. There's that.

Yup, you may never turn back.
Let me know when you list some of your home gym stuff on craigslist.

You have plenty of weight down there to spare.

I've trained at several Equinox locations...they've all been top notch.
Plenty of hot women too.

AJ-
I trained there a few times-I used to rent office space on High Street, and tried this place out with a few of the passes my ex gf gave me...
For a gym its ok, has everything you need-but too many fat pale chicks there, and too many stuffed shirt Boston preppy fag types...
Why not hit up Golds over in Southie?
If your looking for ass and want to spend a few hundred a month, head to Sports Club LA...
Cheers Mate

I'm with you and the constant construction makes it worse. Life is too short.

Golds Southie would be my first choice, but Equinox is half a block away from the place that I would be working. Proximity is key.

AJ, why are you considering a new position/job?
Serious question.

Maybe you misunderstand. I was approached by another company to take on a similar role with much more responsibility and compensation. That's what I am considering now.

Oh, okay, that makes much more sense now.
