Being from America, can anyone from Australia explain to me what this means "trapped by a grassfire in a 100 kilometre ultra-marathon in the Kimberley?"
1) Whats a Kimberley?
2) How is an ultra marathon different from a regular marathon?
3) What is a grassfire? When a bunch of grass goes on fire? And why couldn't she get out? Was the grassfire in a circle, surrounding her?

The Kimberley is a rain forest. Basically it gets to extreme high temps here in summer and is very dry down south meaning low to no humidity. They get strong winds. There will be no fire days meaning that it is unsafe to light a barbeque and you aren't allowed to. Even doing the right thing it doesn't stop nature and fires still start. And once they start they spread rapidly burning and destroying everything in all directions. Google Ash Wednesday. It killed many people due to bush fires back in the late 80's.

I just see a small box... No pic is showing for me. Regardless... Being burned would be extremely painful and hard to live with. It would be very hard living in such a hot country. I am pretty sure that burn victims can't expose their skin to the sun. How do you escape the sun living in Australia.

Hopefully medical technology gets to the point where we can truly help burn victims regrow their skin and tissue so that they can look like they did (or better) before they were burned.

Im 100 % sure (with the right money) that they can fix her face up to normal standards. Fuck, we live in 2015 - we have almost cured cancer and aids now, this shouldn't be that big of a problem. But hey Im no doctor.
Getting disfiguired like this sure puts thing in perspective though. Especially if you were really vain about your looks to begin with. All of the sudden you have to embrace other values in order to cope with life, like so many other unattractive people have to do.

This girls a UK tv presenter that got acid in the face. Doctors did an amazing job. I think she's just as hot now as she was before.
She endured years of operations. She has proven to be a strong woman and looks great. She even couldn't eat properly because the acid damaged her throat.

As frightening as it is, being burned isn't as painful as one might imagine as the nerve endings are close to the skin's surface and are quickly destroyed by the fire. The real pain lies in the recovery. Endless skin grafts.

Hmmmm... No. I think she is an inspiration to people who suffer such ill fates and an example of how to get through a life altering event.
But I am not going to let her story deceive my visual interpretation of her. She is a burn victim with a disfigured face. She is nowhere near as attractive as she was before her attack.

The friend I handle no problem. Brutal vitamin deficiency and can't even toss a cup of acid without panicking.
