Title: Exactly ONE MAN can stop Trump from winning GOP nomination

Former Trump adviser: Romney thinking about getting in
The Washington Examiner

Colorful former Trump adviser Roger Stone thinks 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney is thinking about getting back in the presidential race. Stone tweeted his suspicion, and told CNN he had heard that Romney was considering a run from his sources.

The move could indicate Romney sees an opportunity to better confront and challenge front-runner Donald Trump. Some see current establishment standard bearer former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as flailing. Trump has mocked Bush for being "just flat" on the campaign trail and Sunday called him a "low energy" candidate.

Romney publicly considered a third run as recently as January, but decided against it, after he lost most of his valuable donor base to Bush, and the massive prospective Republican field proved too unpredictable.

Romney ran for president in 2012, and lost the nomination to Sen. John McCain in 2008. Romney supporters point to Ronald Reagan's three attempts at the White House — 1968, 1976, before his successful win in 1980, as evidence that Romney has a chance.

The man who floated this rumor, Trump's former adviser Stone, has a history almost as colorful as that of his former boss. Stone was an aide to President Richard Nixon, and remains one of Nixon's staunchest defenders. He is known for his penchant for expensive but elaborate dress clothes, which are often a departure from the more understated nature of most political menswear.

He has been described as a "self-admitted hit man for the GOP" by the Daily Beast, is a popular presence on Twitter, and allegedly, has a tattoo of his former boss — Nixon— on his back.

You might want to wait for a primary or two before you start declaring Trump the nominee

nobody in this race is on his level.  He's called out FOX's #1 hottie for her period, and he's still #1.  He is crass, rude, disgusting and immature, unable to control his emotions - and he's still #1.

Trump could have an affair, use racist slurs, and club a baby seal on national television every day from now until February, and he'd still win this republican nomination by 30 points.

maybe a candidate like Mitt - with the money, relationships, connection, and experience - could enter the race tomorrow and build what it takes quickly - and his impact could beat trump just because he looks like a dignified statesman, which none of the other 18 republicans show.

All of the people that said trump would have no impact (unless he spent hundreds of millions) are now telling us he can't win the nomination.  He can and without a HUGE game changing event like a romney entry, Trump probably will win.

weren't you the guy constantly saying that a RINO couldn't win and the country was just dying to elect a far right wing nut bag?

Now you say Romney the RINO is the only one who can beat Trump

Do yourself a favor and take the 5 hours you seem to spend each day posting about Trump and go find a new hobby for a few months and wait for a few primaries (assuming Trump even stays in the race that long)

so only a RINO can stop Trump so somehow Repub voters will choose Romney in the primary and then be so disgruntled that their nominee is a RINO and not a hard right wing nutbag that then will then stay home for the general election?

Isn't Trumps ridiculous ideas on immigration and the few other things he has fleshed out enough right wing nutbaggery to qualify for your premise that the country is just dying for a hard line right wing "ruler" to take over

Yes, please! ;D

it's 2015... the dem frontrunner and only actual candidate on the dem side is a frog's hair away from being indicted.  it's a change year, an unpopular president leaving office.

and the repubs are being slayed by an obnoxious democrat tv star who refuses to detail his positions, but will make bimbo and period jokes.

oh, what a time.  Repubs should be WRECKING the dems right now.

As long as people are still feeling the pain of these clowns (and they still are) then my bet is on the Dems.

Romney Is Horrified by Trump — and That’s Restarting ‘Mitt 2016’ Talk

Source: New York magazine

As Donald Trump continues to dominate the Republican presidential race, frustration and panic have become high enough to make some inside the party Establishment pine for a candidate they roundly rejected as recently as January: Mitt Romney. Romney himself has become one of Trump’s most vocal detractors inside the party. “He’s someone to whom civility means a lot. The whole Trump thing really bothers him,” a close Romney adviser told me — and some Romney-ites are only too happy to talk up the prospect of their man jumping into the race if the Establishment fails to stop Trump, whose support in Iowa and New Hampshire is currently greater than Jeb Bush's, Scott Walker's, Marco Rubio's, Chris Christie's, and John Kasich's combined.

“Mitt wants to run. He never stopped wanting to run,” a senior member of his 2012 team told me. Other Romney-ites, watching this cycle’s candidates falling short, feel a sense of vindication after all the attacks they endured after Romney's failed 2012 bid. "These guys like Walker and Perry, they were big deals in their states, but you get them onto the national stage and it's a different story," a former Romney adviser told me. "It's like they were in middle school, and now they're freshmen in high school and they're getting their faces slammed in the toilets." Another former Romney adviser complained about Bush's decision not to go all-in on New Hampshire, a state a moderate must win. "Romney did 100 town halls in New Hampshire from announcement to the primary. It's madness. Bush has done only 23."

The one man that can stop Trump is Trump.   He will self destruct eventually.
