NO FUCKING WAY.
http://combatpress.com/2015/09/fedor-emelianenko-signs-with-the-ufc/ (http://combatpress.com/2015/09/fedor-emelianenko-signs-with-the-ufc/)
“The Last Emperor” has finally found his new home.
Sources close to the situation have told Combat Press that Fedor Emelianenko has officially signed with the UFC, with an official announcement set to be made in the coming weeks. According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Emelianenko is currently looking at options for his Octagon debut.
Although nothing has been confirmed as yet, a separate source indicated that there is a chance that Emelianenko will debut at UFC 193 in the co-main event for Melbourne’s first UFC visit. Although former K-1 champion Mark Hunt is already slated to compete in a rematch against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, “The Super Samoan” previously offered to welcome Emelianenko to the Octagon, and would be the likely opponent for Emelianenko if he fights in Melbourne. The event is headlined by a women’s bantamweight title bout between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm. The event, which takes place from Etihad Stadium, is expected to break the company’s attendance records with ease.
Emelianenko last fought in 2012 when he defeated Pedro Rizzo in the first round. He later announced his retirement following that bout. The legendary heavyweight was widely considered to be the best fighter in the world during his prime in the Japanese-based Pride organization. The Russian fighter claimed Pride’s heavyweight title in 2003 with a win over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and never relinquished the belt, defeating the likes of Nogueira, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman and the aforementioned Hunt along the way. He continued his impressive run in Affliction, where he topped former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski. Emelianenko’s aura of invincibility came to an end under the Strikeforce banner, where he went on a three-fight skid with losses to current UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, the aforementioned Bigfoot and Dan Henderson. The sambo specialist ended his career on a high note by compiling a three-fight winning streak that included knockouts of Satoshi Ishii and Rizzo.

He's going to do well.
-
I wonder how much he was offered :D
I'd rather see Fedor get a Rematch VS Bigfoot Silva as his first fight instead of Huntu though!
-
hes going to get destroyed in the ufc, i guess some of you didnt see his last few fights in the u.s
you dont take three years off from mma and come back and be a beast
he will be done in a year or less

Jon Jones moving to heavyweight vs Fedor would be worth the watch. Would Jones fighting at heavyweight be enough of a disadvantage to offset the aging Fedor. I know such a matchup would never happen, but that's the type of matchup the UFC should be gunning for, rarely are such matchups possible.
-
They'll want to protect Fedor so don't expect to see him vs Velasquez, JDS or anyone else who can wrestle and throw a punch. Maybe Matt Mitrione gets the call.

Old Meathead, gee I don't know Meathead can blow hot or cold, one minute he looks like a superstar the next moment a journeyman. Meathead is tough, his leg kicks can be brutal. I know Kimbo isn't a worthy opponent but Matt Mitrione kicked the absolute shit of of his legs so badly he literally couldn't stand anymore and quit.

Yes, comparing Kimbo to Fedor is an accurate assessment. Crocop has nothing left. He'd be a good name opponent for Fedor as well.

Clueless.
-
He's a great fighter but he's out of prime, a small heavyweight also, i don't see him challenging the top fighters of UFC, let's see...
-
I hope Fedor will "Zulu" his opponents from now on :D
Let's see Bigfoot get Zulu'd!
-
Lovely. He can have his 49th birthday on the PPV event. Lovely.

He will get destroyed in the UFC.

we'll see, Werdum a former Pride FC fighter is the current champ.. Dana/UFC/Rogan were hyping everybody with the "new breed" HW fighters.. Cain, Duffe, Mitrione, Schaub, Browne..
Hunt, Arlovski, Overeem, Werdum "old fighters" still at the top 10

Agreed, Heavyweights tend to mature and come into their best form later. (I think this is true of MMA, not necessarily boxing)

maybe he can teach ronda some humility. I love ronda, but I'm disappointed in rondas constant ramble about floyd mayweather. I thought she was better than all that.
And I hope they won't start the same "would you beat mayweather in an mma fight" theme with fedor neither and if they do, I hope fedor will show ronda MANS example how to stay out of that bullshit.
And if he beats werdum, big deal, he's shit now days. At best he can try to outweigh fedor by 100bs and try to hug him out because fedor's gas tank is 100x better than werdums

Ronda just did a Rogan podcast.

I have watched half so far, Rogan has a major crush on Ronda I think, he is like a smitten child. You can just tell he wants to roll with her. ;D
-
Would be awesome if he still has some gas in his tank and makes a real impact but he's well past his prime now.

Werdum is shite?? WTF??!! Werdum no gastank? he outworked Cain and embarrassed him in every possible way!! UFC and 99% at sherdog/UG forums were saying Cain has the gastank from a LW.
Werdum is the BEST fighter on the planet, period!
And Ronda is very dislikeable, she burned a lot of bridges in the JUDO world for being a total bitch/arrogant, and it was displayed very well at the TUF show she did. Her PR team has done very well shoving her in everybody throat lately, anybody saying they can take on Floyd is a retard attention seeker PR stunt, should she say she can win over Phil Heath at MR.Olympia as well??!
p.s Rogans crying on his Podcast was beyond retard and cringeworthy, Rogan has gone full retard now..
-

I don't think he will make much of an impact, but he will put bums on seats that's for sure. Probably destroy his legacy like all great fighters seem to eventually do.
-

I think his legacy as an ATG is already secured. Most people won't hold any future losses against him but it would be sad seeing him lose to fighters he would have destroyed in his prime.
-
Werdum, Henderson & Antonio Silva defeated him and a rookie Brett Rogers was making him look soft.
Everyone would love to see an invincible Fedor come to the UFC and annihilate every single heavyweight in existence, but I think he might not do too well. I want him to do well, but if I look at it rationally, the man is past his prime at 38 yrs of age and while Randy Couture had a decent run, the competition wasn't as fierce as it is today.
If we really want to see what Fedor might have left in the gas tank, go ahead and start him off against Travis Browne, followed by Junior Dos Santos and then Cain Velasquez (assuming he beats the first two guys). After going through those 3, by all means, let him have Werdum.

Werdum earned everything he got, he neither ducked or dodged any fighter in his division and his resume is second to none. He has grown on me and he genuinely seems like a good guy, bar the JESUS bullshit.

all three of them are a bad match up for him at this stage
I think they might give him the winner of arlovski mir that fight makes sense

the tuf "arrogance" was part reality and part show. You haven't heard why ronda dislikes miesha so much, miesha is incredibly unfair to her employees and talks shit behind everyone's back and pretends to be this holy mary. Ronda is not arrogant at all she is the realest person there is. Minus the mayweather pr stunt which I already addressed, very disappointing.
And cain and werdum are both no gas having, exhausted after 1st round fat clowns these days, not impressive at all, they look like they fight in slow motion and they both looked like they were about to die from exhaustion in their last fight it was boring.
-

I think he would do well versus Mir. Mir is a good fighter, but not great. Mir isn't fast on his feet and his pace is something Fedor would capitalize with. Fedor can set him up with ease.
I think Arlovski might have a chance at defeating Fedor, but I am still questioning the integrity of his chin.

You have to admire their persistence though, he was almost that monster fish that got away.
-
The better question is what type of side deal did the UFC cut with Fedor to get him to sign?
With the ReeBok deal, a guy like Fedor (since he isn't a champion) would be making pennies. I wonder how many Pay Per View points they are going to offer him right off the top and what other royalties and monies they are going to give him per fight straight out of the Fertitta's pockets.

Good to see Fedor back on (the fighting)track again.
More than what you can say about his younger brother Aleksander.

I agree Miesha is another arrogant bitch, but from several sources in the Judo world Ronda was an arrogant bitch. Joanna Jedrzejczyk now there's a Real person.. she was liked by most when she competed at Muay Thai and is liked at UFC.. Ronda KNOWS she has haters and they are hating her for various reason..
Cain vs Werdum I agree, but fighting at 7380 ft above the sea can have that effect..
I'm happy Werdum won, as a Pride fan seeing a former Pride fighter winning the UFC belt was beyond awesome, something ZUFFA/UFC will never mention him being a PrideFC fighter.

Lets wait and see boys. We all thought Arlovski was done as well, and now look at him.
P.s. Fedor knocked Arlovski into a coma when they fought. 8)

Proper matchmaking for Fedor would be 1) Crocop then 2) Winner of Arlovski-Mir and then title shot vs Cain-Werdum II winner. Paying him almost $1M per fight, you can't put him up against any no-names.

I often wonder if having a high bodyfat percentage is really that bigger hindrance in MMA. I remember Roy Nelson when he was on the Ultimate Fighter literally pinned the guy with his belly and literally smothered, the poor fucker couldn't get that fat fuck of him. I am sure in some positions, being a heavier set dude must have some advantages.

no big deal for a heavyweight. but probably not optimal to be as fat as Roy Nelson
If natty, some bodyfat helps.

Didn't sign with UFC :/
Instead signed with a new org. The man who started Pride.
I guess fighters might migrate if the pay is better. All depends on if MMA can rise in popularity again in Japan. Pay might get better than UFC if it grows in popularity like back in early 2000's. Plus they don't have testing which may attract many fighters.
MMA in Japan was super popular in early 2000. Japan is strange like that. Things goes in waves with popularity, alot, like fads. Pride and MMA was super popular, only to be dropped like a hot potato by people and die off completly.

Omg ::)
Off course he will not take the UFC belt like taking candy from a baby, by this point you should've already knew that. this applies to any fighter.
However this whole ordeal has to do with Pride vs UFC.. who had the best fighters, and at the time Pride had the best fighters BAR NONE!!
Werdum a former PrideFC fighter is now "THE" UFC champ.
Fedor is considered by everybody the GOAT.. I dare you to create a poll at Sherdog who is heavily ufc fan based, Fedor ALWAYS comes 1st.
UFC favorite boy Anderson Silva got busted by steroids, GSP retired and was afraid to face Anderson(Nick Diaz had the balls).
another reason why not to sign UFC is money, since they're prizefighters/pro, Reebok pays lousy & they offer a slave contract unless you're on the top of the food chain.
Josh Thompson only got 5k by Reebok, his fight this Saturday at Bellator he got 35+k by sponsors alone.
-
Yes, the Reebok sponsorship for the UFC is crap for the fighters. For people who do not know, here is the breakdown of how the fighters are paid by Reebok:
Fighters in their first five UFC bouts will receive $2,500, while fighters with six to 10 fights will make $5,000. Fighters in their 11th to 15th fight will make $10,000, and fighters with 16 to 20 bouts will make $15,000. Fighters with 21 bouts or more will be paid $20,000 per fight.
UFC champions will be paid $40,000 for each bout, with challengers making $30,000.
Fighters like Rousey and McGregor love the Reebok deal. What many people do not know is that they are signed to separate (more lucrative) deals with Reebok, so they obviously make a lot more then the rest of the fighters.
If Josh Thompson is telling the truth about his sponsorship money (made only 5k per fight from Reebok in the UFC, and made 35K off of sponsors at Bellator) then you can easily see how the majority of the fighters are getting screwed.
That may leave the door open for Bellator and this new organization led by Sakakibara, to attract better talent. Not to mention that Japan may be able to get fighters like Anderson Silva, Wandy, Nick Diaz etc.... to come over there.
The main reason why the UFC is the top dog, is because it is considered the NFL or MLB of mixed martial arts, while Bellator would be like the Canadian football league or the minors.
It will be interesting to see how the next year plays out, and it all starts with this supposed "huge event" in Japan on New Years Eve, where Fedor fights in the main event.
I wonder who they will get to fill out that card?
-

I never said anything about him not being the GOAT, but he's old, past his prime and will get his ass handed to him. Just because he was the goat 10 years ago doesn't mean he will be any good now. People get old, that's a fact.
-

He holds more than a puncher's chance against anyone in the world.
The bottom line is that he is still a draw.
Besides, this seems to be a moot point anyway. Fedor is not going to the UFC.

Here is a perfect example of how anything can happen in a fight. A prime Mirko Crocop against juiced up, berserker Kevin Randleman.
Crocop was by far the better fighter, but it still did not prevent this huge upset. An old Fedor could still beat any heavyweight on the planet. The odds wouldn't be as good as what they once were, but by no means impossible.

That was a HUGE upset at the time, I remember I was screaming at the monitor like crazy when it happened. Back then Randleman was a monster and always was, the outrage in UG and sherdog forums he created when he lost UFC Title fight vs Bas Rutten was something.
