Find something "vintage" at a pawn shop or goodwill.
-
Check out the 01 line.
You can find them for about 350 plus or minus....
I have a few of them... some I've paid more, some I've paid less.
http://www.01theone.com/products.html
*Edit... looks like the on-line price is MUCH better than at some kiosk in a mall... I definitely overpaid on a couple.*

Seiko Monster diver. Black face, stainless band, automatic movt, 200m water resist, better quality bracelet than watches costing 4x5 as much. $183 shipped. Also sold in variety face colors.
Good luck finding one at your local US dealer at this price. I have had good experiences with the eBay Singapore watch sellers in the past.

Do men wear watches to know the time, or to wear jewelry? (serious question).
I don't wear any jewelry, not even my wedding ring.
The time is posted all over the place (phones, cars, etc).
Just curious...

I was going to suggest Luminox watches, as they used to be around $200. I went and looked and they are all around $400 now. Oh well. Decent watches still.

Haha.
Bunch of poor nobodies outed as poor nobodies.
There is not a worthwhile watch in between the price ranges of 200$ and 3000$.
Get a timex weekender.

I would have just bought one from here (http://www.urjerseys.com/watches-c-25.html)

Just posted about my watch. I wear a watch for function. I have a DZ09 Android Smartwatch synced to my Galaxy S8 phone. All the features of an Apple Watch and even has a removable SIM, Micro SD and Camera and I spent only 11.99 for it including shipping. Actually looks decent in brushed aluminum although it also comes in gold and edomite

Vince, why do you have your watch synced to your phone? Is it to keep on top of emails?
-
Vince, why do you have your watch synced to your phone? Is it to keep on top of emails?
You nailed it on the head. I get a ton of emails, calls, and text from my websites for orders and emails so it keeps me from having to pulling out my phone all the time which is honestly the only reason someone should get one to begin with which is the notifier. No matter what smart watch you get, doing general tasks such as web surfing, calling people, or sending text to people is pointless. Its also has a anti-lost feature where it rings if the phone is away from it which keeps you from losing your phone or have it stolen.
Now if you're wearing one for status or you collect them, you're a moron if you're considering one in the 200 dollar range because that's way too cheap. The bare minimum should be 1000 dollars at best these days. Otherwise you'll be spending a lot of money for a watch that won't impress anyone. I had a Movado watch that was 800 bucks but that was about 15 years ago.

Vince, I am not into fancy things, especially watches. I just use my cell phone for the time. However, I was thinking about buying a relatively nice looking watch in the 200-300$ range. I am not into collecting them, but I think one that looks decent would be nice. You know, just to wear out. On the other hand, having a watch that notifies you about email and whatnot, would also be important.
Another question, Vince: On average, how many emails do you get per day?
-

At least 200 of them. But I have the phone set up to only alert me from my emails attached to my Stripe or Paypal account because its usually a new order request coming in or an inquiry about something. I can then pull out my phone and immediately email back an answer if its important or use my Google Assistant to remind me about it when I get back home.
I understand that you're wanting to spend 200-300 bucks however lets face it. A watch is for the most part for telling time so honestly I wouldn't spend that much based on what you're telling me because you don't collect them. Go with what visualizeperfection said and get a Timex Weekender.

Judging by the amount of counterfeit Rolex's and Breitling's watches out there the Chinese must be working overtime to fill the outrageous demand. At least with a $200 to say a $500 watch it's genuine and worth the money unlike all those high end fake watches guys are buying off the internet thinking they got a deal or even knowing it's probably a counterfeit.

Unless you're a pilot, there's no need to buy a Breitling as that's what they generally design their watches for. Rolex is still a great brand but its been slightly been miffed by all of the hip hop artists wearing them

No need for most high end watches. All our phones have the time. They are mainly Jewelry. The only watch I find that I really need is a GPS watch like a Garmin. It gives me my running pace, final sprint, mileage and time. I know that a phone can do the same but it's a hassle to carry a phone running.
-
What a waste of money
No one gives a crap about watches
No one actually sees someone wearing an expensive watch and thinks the person is cooler because of it
People actually mock people who wear expensive watches
They all look the same

Here's how to get a real gold Rolex for under. $200. Go to a gay bar and find the rich homo with a nice watch. Offer to buy him a drink. Cosmo or appletini. Buy him more and more. Then when he can barely stand offer to blow him in the bathroom. Carry him to a stall and slip off his watch and leave. Works every time.

You still blow him, right?
I mean it's one thing to rob a dude, it's another to make him believe he's getting sucked off for no reason.

Could it be that they mock people with expensive watches because they themselves cannot afford said watch? And so, out of jealousy they are really complaining and drawing attention to their own lack funds?
Smart watches are actually not selling that well for various reasons. And they generally are not as interesting aesthetically as a Panerai, Rolex, Omega, Blancpain, Alpina, Tag Heuer, etc. Or even a Seiko, Citizen, Bulova, Tissot.

I don't wear any jewelry, just an watch. Yes, not needed in this day and age, but business men check out other guys watches for some weird reason. ( no homo... I think)
Also if you into gold digging hoes, they only check 3 real things, watch, shoes, and car. ;D

I currently own two Rolex Subs (16610 and 5513), a Rolex Florentine Datejust (16014), and a beat to shit Omega Seamaster Professional.
I'm speaking from experience when I say "yes" people notice. My 5513 gets the most love. When I was single hoes at the bar would start conversations.
To each their own, but speaking from your twat.

That's the watch I have. HTexan, what the hell is going on with San Antonio traffic? I spent the majority of my day driving in that crap. First time in Texas and I'm stuck in San Antonio for this week. Every day is some kind of parade. The highways are really poorly maintained and were designed by someone who is missing a couple of screws. Strangest place I've have ever been too. River walk is fantastic to visit though. The weather is incredible. Seems there is nothing but highways and a few residential houses. I'm here to see my son but as soon as he leaves San Antonio I'm never returning. Most hotels I have seen only have indoor pools and it's sunny and hot every single day. Just bizarre. I went to get famous Texas BBQ ribs and they were terrible. NJ has better ribs. The people all seem like really decent people and not like the phony manners of the people of the south. I would like to see other parts of Texas but my hate for San Antonio is huge and it makes me hesitant. Enough of my rant. Just feel like I'm in the twilight light zone.
Agree what you said about shoes. I've seen guys wear a cheap suit with cheap shoes with an imitation Rolex looking like a fool. Quality classic shoes really will take you far with women and in the business arena.

I just drove past SA today, and yes the roads were all shitty today.

I think it's the idea of people willing to speak to you that is foreign to you.
A waste of money signifies an empty investment. Go ahead and look up pre-owned Rolex prices. To say that they are sound investments is an understatement.
I think for some reason you're bitter. Perhaps they don't finance luxury goods to people of your "type".

Dumb people like u will pay anything if u think it'll make u elite
Listen to me!!! Watches are worthless!!! You see one watch you've seen them all!!!

Depends on what's necessary with the service. Around 350 every 7 years or so is standard.
So, around every time a woman has unsolicited sex with you, it's about time for me to service a Rolex.

When you buy watches from authorized dealers they generally hook you up. I've never spend more than 400. I've also never needed replacement parts.
-
Seems like we have these watch threads every 6 months.
A swiss watch... Ahem.. TIMEPIECE... Isn't a waste of money. You spend $5k on a car and4yrs later you sell it for $2k or 3... Spend that same 5k on a submarine or Omega Seamaster and 4yrs later it's still worth 4-5k... Or even 5500, depending on the watch.
-
A nice return on investment I would say

You can always drink water, stay at home, eat crackers and walk everywhere.

Watches are absolutely the stupidest thing ever
This, and checking a watch x times a day gives me a nervous feeling

After you buy your fifth cell phone, you could have bought 15 decent watches though.
For what it was designed to do, a watch is a marvel.
so why don't we all collect sundials as well? All u watch snobs-chime in!!! How come u don't collect sundials as well??

Ha, good stuff :D
"Which is to say, the mere act of wearing a watch is not an immediate giveaway of assholedom. This means that the rich pompous asshole, with his big fucking watch with the face as big as a dessert plate, can sidle on up next to you without raising your automatic "rich asshole" defense system."

Watch snobs? Come on man. Aren't you stretching that a little?
You wear a belt? Ever? You probably don't need it to keep your pants up, but you probably wear one from time to time.
Is your car a cheap yugo? Of course not.
Some things can be accessories and have a practical purpose. Much easier to look down at a watch than to pull your phone out. If I'm in a meeting and I look at my watch, no big deal. If I pull out my phone, it's rude.
I can't believe someone is hating on watches. Watches!
If you don't like them, it's fine, but to act like they are pointless. Sheesh.
-

Almost everyone has a mobile these days, so yeah, that makes the functionality of a watch pretty pointless. BTW, the same goes for cameras, calculators, stopwatches, flashlights, memo recorders, etc

The point is lost on those that don't like watches.

it does go backwards & forwards gets you from point A to B.

A nice watch is part of your presentation, and it can be the finishing touch in terms of leaving a good and lasting impression. It goes without saying that a flashy Rolex won't turn you into a high-roller, nor does it make you look good. But if that's the way you approach watches, you've missed the point any ways. Nothing beats a fine watch, certainly not those digital 'connect-to-your-phone-so-you-don't-miss-all-your-asshole-friends-and-other-unrelated-crap' trash like the AppleWatch or similar products.

Some wear watches for appearance and others appreciate the fine mechanics. You can get beautiful looking watches for $500 if you know where to go. Then there's the status watch by going for the big name brand then there's watches known for prime mechanics that attract me. It's all a personal choice.
The thing I hate the most are the big fucking watches that are bejewled. Look dumb.

Agreed, fine mechanics are what makes a watch (and clocks) hence why I'm not at all interested in digital/smart watches.

I don't consider excessively decorated watches as being a clockwork anymore, rather they're pieces of jewelry that just so happen to have a dial.
Though they could be as intricate as they come, bejeweled watches don't spark my interests really.

Planing to buy a TagHeuer Link Senna 2004 (CJF2113), always joked to my dad I'd take his followed by his response I'd have to pry it from his cold-dead hands, but I rather not wait that (hopefully) long. Absolutely gorgeous watch.

of course I go outside-and yes I have never had an issue checking the time-I live by a bank with a big sign that has the time and temp displayed-cars have the time inside them-I also check the time before I go out so I always have an idea of what time-or I just check my phone or ask someone-actually my whole life I have been in rooms that all have clocks
I'm sure there were clocks where u were u just didn't see them
-
I have been collecting watches for years and have some that are 70 years old but my daily watch is a Fossil I got from my kids for my birthday 2 years ago at their store at universal Orlando. I think it was $150. Fuckin excellent watch. Looks very like this one.

I'm probably exaggerating about the entire building, but the conference floor did not and the individual breakout session rooms also had none.
Was there one by the security desk or something? Possibly, but nothing while you just walk around or do sessions.

then you should have paid attention to the clock before you went in the clockless room
That is your fault and does change the fact that watches are worthless
-
This discussion makes no sense. Everyone with a phone knows how late it is.
-
The problem with watch buyers are the ones that go beyond their means. If you can only afford $200 then that's fine and there are a lot of nice watches in that range. it's the ones that can only afford $200 but then leverage debt to buy a $5000 Rolex because they think it will make their $30 shirt and shorts look better. Watches start at $5 and go up to millions just like wine, scotch, cigars, cars etc... You buy what you can afford and be happy.

There you go -- You Spend your £ on what is relevant to you.
Likewise others spend their £ on what is relevant to them.
The relevant items may well be very different to each & everyone of us.
Dose not mean one is better than the other.
In the case of food clearly that is a basic life necessity - Though You Could Buy Very Basic & Cheap Food.
That's the Point you chose to Spend £ on Good Food.

Get one of those wood watches. Great talking point, and you may attract birds and termites.

As you can see from the photos above I am not just another armchair thinker. I actually apply what I know to building machines.
I have invented a biceps-supinator machine. Arthur Jones pointed out that one of the functions of the biceps was supination or
twisting the wrists. He never made a Nautilus or Medx machine that would provide resistance for supination and flexion at the
same time. When I got the patent through in the USA I contacted Arthur in his home. I had to get his number from Ellington
Darden. Well, I talked with Arthur for over an hour and he didn't mind Roz listening in on another line. I told him I would set
him a photo of the machine and he declined in case I accused him of copying the design. We had a really good talk and what
a pity I lived too far away to visit him. It isn't often that one meets someone who we connect with on an intellectual level.
I have talked hypertrophy with Mike Mentzer at Golds in 1991. I was living at Ray Mentzer's place so he arranged for us to
meet. We didn't see eye to eye on anything that day. This was before my DOMS theory arrived. Mike had his ideas and I had
mine. I would read his excellent articles in the magazines but I didn't embrace them like some guys did. Ray gave seminars
and conducted training sessions twice at our gyms in Sydney. So we got to know a lot about how Ray trained. He was one
big and strong dude. I recall one day working up to 9 plates on the lying triceps machine. When I finished he figured he
could do the same weight so did many reps without warming up. That was a crazy thing to do. The elbows need to be flushed
with blood before using heavy weights. Ray rubbed his elbows after that effort. That was showing off. He did boast about doing
two deep squats with 925 pounds at his Muscle Mill gym in Torrance.
Ray influences several bodybuilders in our two gyms and I think everyone reduced the number of sets they were doing. We
trained three days a week and did one direct exercise for biceps, for example, and on another day did an indirect exercise for
that muscle. So we were training muscles twice a week. That is close to what I advocated...which is every third day.
What about that invention I came up with...a biceps supinator? It was a daunting machine to build. It has 21 pulleys.
I eventually bit the bullet and did everything myself and completed the first version in 2001, some 10 years after first
applying for a patent. I has been modified several times with the last major changed occurring last year. I finally
reinstalled the machine in our Melrose Park Gym in Sydney. Vince's Gym. I can tell you that this excellent machine
causes DOMS in my biceps every time I have a hard workout on it. That literally doesn't happen with other biceps
exercises. So now I can get both biceps and triceps sore in the same workout since I superset triceps and biceps.
Imagine the potential to build arm size with this knowledge and equipment?! What do the guys in my gym do?
The bodybuilders do mainly free weights. Ah, how I dislike the beliefs of muscleheads.
Sorry, no photo of the modified machine since I might be able to sell the design now.

I've learned from this thread that apparently when you go to the gym and you have a super rare Rolex on everyone stops what they're doing and comes over to you in amazement of your watch
Or the other thing I've learned is that there are frequently life and death situations where there are no clocks available and the clock on your phone stops working so u need a watch to survive

Dear Gene,
Would you be so kind as to provide an honest assessment of my latest timepiece? I would love to hear your thoughts regarding its aesthetic value and the mentality of the individuals who would wear such a thing. It was a gift costing around $350, and I'm rather fond of it. Would love to get your opinion.
Thank you.

I would love to hear your thoughts regarding its aesthetic value and the mentality of the individuals who would wear such a thing. It was a gift costing around $350, and I'm rather fond of it. Would love to get your opinion.
Thank you.
to be honest it looks like a rediculous grandfather clock
But if a watch is given to you then that's allowed

stupidest most jumbled up cluster I've ever seen -looks like a dumb compass-looks impossible to understand it-oh my god Jesus Christ
-
It is cluttered lol however it serves it purpose.
My old Seiko , could have bought a new Rolex though
hahaha to take the time and wrap your watch around a pile of money is sad-
It's money we all have it

we can play james bond once and a while - being a grown up is boring if you are always "adulting" ;D
PS - the $50s nicely played as the $100 vibe is always overkill

Good man, Gene. You have a way with words. You should start a YouTube channel and do reviews. You'd get loads of free samples to try.

Good idea, finally a reviewer who's honest by not kissing someone's ass

expensive watches are like muscle, the only ones you impress are other guys.
-
Check out Swiss Legend they had some decent watches at that price range. Also TW Steel.

wow! You must have lots of people approach you and talk to you when you have that beauty on! Apparently if u have an expensive watch on people can't resist talking to u!!

I think "naturalwonder" is simply bitter because he lives in poverty.

as long as im wearing my expensive watch i never feel naked
in fact sometimes i forget to put my clothes on and people dont even notice because theyre busy admiring my watch

i am not in poverty being I don't waste my money on over priced watches
You're the only one that knows your Rolex is a rolex!!! They all look the same!

casio g shocks are decent. Good workout watch, pairs well with the clothing, good for timing runs, etc.

As well as timing the 90 minute anabolic window. If you eat at 91 minutes, your workout was a waste, as your body will not absorb nutrition.

Still rocking it. ;D

Id spot that from 15ft away.
Always know i can lock in a client for $100/hour when the guy notices my Panerai. Lol... Dont even have to see what theyre driving before i quote a price. Most bums dont know ANYTHING other than a Rolex.
Can always tell the small-minded people when they complain about "overpriced watches"... Esp when those guys waste money on shitty new SRT Dodges and mods, & video game systems and complain about not wanting to work weekends and still rent an apartment.... While throwing away money on $160 Fossil watches (even your bullshit Armani or Gucci watches are made by Fossil).

DZ09 Android Smartwatch. China is overproduced these watches and there is a massive inventory of these. Takes up to a 128GB SD card, can put in a network SIM card for independent calls....has pretty all the features of an Apple Watch but without the price. I have mine in brushed aluminum but I'm also waiting for my other two in white and gold
$11.99 with free shipping.

Ugh no. You get what you pay for. Apple and Samsung smart watches cost more for a reason, and it isn't just brand.

No, with Apple you're paying the salary of a homosexual CEO which is good for me but you're also paying for all of the advertising, commissions, and the liberal agenda.
My watch isn't a brand...it has no name...its just the model DZ09 AND with the massive overproduction, I got it at a steal. My watch can do practically everything an Apple watch can do. Of course, a more expensive watch can do other things but it comes to a point as to whether its spending a minimum 349 dollars for a "low end" Apple Watch. My watch has a web browser but honestly, its impractical to surf the web on it as the screen is too small.

Oh wow, and your phone can't handle this?
-
let's see here the phone vs watch argument.
phone = big.
watch = small
phone = have to bring out from your pocket
watch = on your wrist
so thats 0-2 to the watch.
if anything they should put the phone in the watch like in knight rider not the other way around.

You're a sad Self hating gay. :-\
But anyway, you so stupid it hurts. An Apple Watch and Samsung gear 3 cost more, but you get a true smart watch. You get waterproofing, heart rate monitor( so you can actually workout with it), way better battery life, apps, you can actually link it to you phone, apple/android pay, better processor and performance, your calendars and to do list, Siri/ google now, all the messaging and phone calls your pos can do, but using you own phone number, etc. And an Apple Watch starts at 269 or a Samsung gear 2 at 250 MSRP you stupid fuck.
Hell you can get at Fitbit charge 2 for 150.

Mine also comes with pedometer and sleep monitor, it syncs to my S8 phone, I just showed you my calender, it has a notepad, and actually I can also put a sim card in it and it will have its own phone number (oops on your part) and the battery life on a DZ09 Android Smartwatch is 2 days. Now its only water resistant so it can take a dip in the pool and still work however I don't need to take any calls while I'm swimming. As far as Siri is concerned, I could just pull my phone out and ask Siri or Bixby what I need.
But I'm glad the Apple Watch price has came down to $269.00 which is still way more expensive than the 11.99 with free shipping I paid . However you're a true friend to the gay and liberal community so we appreciate your support. The next Sugar Free Vanilla Mocha Latte at Starbucks is on me :-*

I don't take kindly to disrespect. not on the internet, not in person, not in a grocery store parking lot, not in like at walmart, not in a restaurant, not at the beach, not at the dry cleaners... anywhere.
ppl talk about the 'pussyfication' of America, yet they run their mouths thinking they won't get slapped and get their arm broken in front of their friends.
spent many yrs in a place where if you talk slick and say something out of line to somebody, you know that when you say it, you better be ready for what happens. most ppl here in the 'real world', aren't ready for what could happen.. and run their mouths like the world is a make believe cartoon. despite wearing nice slacks, polished shoes and a nice shirt, the guy you steal that parking spot from at the grocery store and proceed to flip off, may have just gotten out of prison and will have no problem identifying they bitch in you and proceed to teach you a lesson by taking you down to the ground and kicking out your teeth before you even know what happened.
the guy who's willing to go the furthest, wins. if you're not willing to go all the way, it's best you keep your mouth shut and move on, and make it to the next day.
