Title: Human contact vs. Pet contact
Post by: El Diablo Blanco on September 10, 2015, 07:55:52 AM
I may be in the minority here but I feel more comforted when my cat comes over and rubs against my leg or jumps up on my lap purring than if a chick gives me a hug or sits close to me.  Something about the love from a pet just seems more comforting.  Anyone else feel this way?

Pets don't know if you are a shitty person or not.  As long as you feed them and don't beat them they will be loyal to you.  Humans hold you accountable.  I'm not saying you are weak or a bad person by any means, but usually people who are bad at cultivating friendships with humans do better with pets.

I feel love and empathy for my cats and parents, no one else, majority of human beings don't deserve any, in my opinion... I'm probably not that good in general relationships with humans, but still...

I was never a pet person but last year decided to get one and I feel more comforted by my cat than any other person ever did for me.

So you dont like a dog sniffing at your crotch and slobbering all over you?

Yes my two cats rock!

...pretty sure my male cat mocked me the other day. he was doing something I didn't like the other day and I said "Stop, stop, stop" and he meowed back to me three times in the same tone I said stop, stop, stop!

We lost 2 of our 3 beloved cats.  Had all from kitten until their deaths (10-15 years).  Loved them a great deal....our "fur babies".  Spent hours with them.  Have their ashes and paw prints on a wall in our house along with their favorite toys and pictures of them.  Loving members of our family.  Our last cat, the baby of the pack is still with us and we love that old guy very much.

That said, human contact > pet contact.....without a doubt.

So you can see the gains from eating them?

Haha, naaaa, I couldn't eat my pet chicken's. I do enjoy their egg's though.

I can't eat something I knew while it was alive. Just feels wrong.

And this is what GetBig has come to...

Better than the Joon threads or religion bashing.

No matter my mood.  When my cat sees me and comes running and puts his head down to crash into me and rub up against me, I get an instant smile and my whole mood changes for the better.  I can be amped up and stressed and when he just purrs and I hold him close I feel at peace.  Something no whore does for me.

Same, they can make you happier and change the day... They are members of the family...

There is nothing sadder than a never-married 50 or 60 year old woman; who has no kids or grandchildren...

....who goes out and buys a pet that acts as a "replacement" for the kids that she never had
