yup, Vince's arms were 19 and looked 21. mine were 21 and looked 19

Me too. I was at a local show in S. Florida with 3 of my buddies just after he won the Universe. He was guest posing and signing pics. We walked up to him at the table where he was signing. One of the guys I was there with was Mr. Alabama, had close to 20 inch arms. He commented life isn't worth living without big arms. Mentzer was cool and laid back guy back then.

Curry is 5'6. Vince was 5'8-5'9. I'd guess Vince had solid 20s on stage. He has small joints.

Mentzer claimed 18-5/8 was his largest. Some years ago at the Arnold Classic I measured Vince's pumped arm at 19.75".
If I ever find it, I have a pic comparing arms with Vince. Mine were a little over 17" cold at the time.

good point, that's why you have to take into consideration bodyfat levels
a 18 inch arm @ 5% is much much more impressive than an 18 incher @ 10%

plus wrist size and insertions. if phil heath had the shoulder width of an average untrained man his arms wouldn't appear as big.

My training partner has crazy arms for his weight. Here they are over 20" @ a bit under 220. Competes at about 195, loses a bit but almost "20. Not a single needle of any type of oil has gone into them. Funny thing is that I measured them at "21 like 17 years ago! But then he was fat and now he has the same sized arms ripped.

there is no real definition of grainy, but if someone is confused you can just show him a pic of this guy.

I'm in the second camp, even when I'm a lean 18.5 my terrible arm insertions make my arms look like crap especially my old white guy tris :(

ya, it sux. i'm less than 5'10, but my reach is 6'4. super long arms, and my bicep itself is so long It wouldn't even peak when they were almost 21''. I would have been the perfect candidate for a site enhanced bicep peak. my arm woulda looked better and an inch bigger.

Sergio's biceps didn't really peak, nor Kevin Levrone's, due to their biceps inserting closer to the elbow. So, I'd say that you are in good company

You complaining to me is like warren buffet grumbling that he only made ten billion dollars this year, lol. Your arms had that super thick look from what I remember but you didn't have that ballon shape that the black dudes get.
My (white) bro put an inch of oil into his when he did the USA a few years back but he still got marked down for small arms.

Scott's arms are insanely round and full. Plus they are short which is what visually looks crazy. I like Hazbin, have long arms but my biceps are pretty round which gave the appearance of them being bigger than they were.

ya, my joints got big. I trained as heavy as the pros claimed they did, and it grew my connective tissue. then when I met several of them I found out they didn't even write their magazine training articles. fuggers.

was probably my worst lift. not often I would go over a plate a side. but hammer curls I would go up to the 140's in each hand. not strict

Crazy if only 19" - makes me feel fat. Mine are 18.5" flexed at 6ft1/2 (very long arms) and look like pipe cleaners relatively (obviously not to Joe Public) cos of weak triceps and length of arm. MD referred to Vince's arms as 23" but MD also said Ronnie had 40" legs... If people were more honest with weight and measurements bodybuilding's overall delusion, excess and indulgence of mental illness might be reduced.
