Today, out of the blue, a young Arab man introduced himself to me and after we exchanged pleasantries he asked if I could help him get steroids.
I was thrown off guard and literally laughed and told him that they were illegal in America, he said he knew that but in his country they are not, but he couldn't get his supply past customs. I was told he made a purchase on steroids.com but it was garbage herbal supplements.
Despite his insistence that I'd know where to get steroids I told him I don't use them (which I dont) so he then said well I'm sure you know someone, at which point I realized he wasn't going to leave me alone so I said I'd ask around, to which he thanked me repeatedly, lol.
Dude looked like a buck 20, it was surprising he said he had bought steroids before.
I don't know what to think though, if I look like I juice/ and somewhat of an alpha (as i said i dont, great natural genetics ::) ) or I look like someone who wouldn't beat up a weird stranger aka a beta(which apparently I am)?

6/10 for veiled boast.

:)
Lol, no boast, just an odd story. I should have said it happened to someone else, so I don't look like a douche. There's bigger dudes in my gym, after I thought about it I must not look very menacing/intimidating , just look like someone "safe" to approach, so you can do the math I = beta.
:(
I meant to ask is this a typical approach in order to purchase pharmaceuticals?

Becareful, first they buddy up to you asking for roids, then it's late night trips to the strip clubs, next thing you know.....

I get asked for roids all the time. I've even passed 10 + lie detector tests which I didn't pay for to prove I haven't taken roids.
LOL
Upright rows are the most anabolic.

Cat looked terroristic, thick bushy beard, wore a skull cap and spoke mediocre english. I should have asked him if he knew Jesus.

I'm shocked by how shameless some people are.

Cop?
That's what it would seem like, but I think he's some sort of international student. I'm friendly with another guy he came into the gym with, maybe I'll ask him how well he knows the dude. Not that it really matters.

Since there's already one veiled boast/weird interaction thread, I'll post this story here and not start another one.
A few days ago, I hit up the gym and there was this upper middle-aged guy in there doing legs. Never seen him before, looked like he didn't workout regularly, probably just joined. He's using some leg machines and I am working chest, at this point, on the hammer press which is directly across from the leg machines. Before I start my second set, the guy sits down at the hammer press next to the one I'm using and pounds out a few reps. I thought "weird. guy was working legs. A lot of newbies are sort of haphazard though." Go upstairs do some front raises. On my second set, the guy is at the other end of the free dumbbell rack doing front raises. Then I superset front presses with shrugs and the guy is doing the same thing. He was copying my workout! People have asked me for advice before, but I have never been tailed like that.

Were you free-balling? He may have just been watching your bag sway to and fro.

never get anyone roids, never help anyone get roids by referring them to anyone or any website, never give people advice on stacks etc.
life is short, the good that can come out of it is nothing, the bad is endless

Best to know nothing.

Next time just remind Big Ach that he's natural and send him on his way.

I see lots of people trying to copy my workouts and it's usually multiple people in the gym at the same time...they'll take a few glances over at me and I'll pay them no attention then in the corner of my eye they will be waiting till I start the set to see what I do and then they'll do it....a couple of times I've had 2-3 people blatantly doing the same stuff as me...this was a couple years ago but I left that gym shortly after that time...for years I had always loved getting looks but that really changed my whole outlook on things and now I cover up more....well not really lol

If somebody asks me to sell him gear or get him connected i will tell him 99% of the time to fuck off.
Things dont go down like that.
Using headphones while training is good idea imo.

Nobody ever asks me for "roids"... :-\

I thought "weird. guy was working legs
Guy was copying you, but it's only weird if you only think of training in the traditional BB sense.
I've done workout the involved Giants sets of Squat / Bench / DL and any other full body combos.

I think the average gym goer, or even self deluded gym rat doesn't know about things like super setting, so when they see someone do it (correctly) that other person comes off as knowing what they're doing and will be mimicked alot of the times.

Would someone not used to working out even recognize a superset when looking at one?

DO what I did when some mug asked me for "dem steroid pills" I bought some L arginine, put it in a labelless bottle to make it look "dodgy" then charged him £50 for something I paid £2,50 for that doesn't even work!

Why would someone ask you, in particular, for steroids?
??? ??? ???

I'd guess they would have the basic idea of say just straight bench press sets. So seeing someone do that and then immediately something else may stand out for the endurance needed alone.
