You would be surprised what the general public understands...i knew conservatards in college who watched the Colbert report, and not the daily show because they actually thought colbert was conservative lol, and they wold laugh at the bits that actually clowned on them. They had no understanding of satire. Its actually unreal how some people cant pick up social cues, reference points, tone, etc. its like they are mind numbingly empty.
