Title: Al BECKLES recently
Post by: Nether Animal on October 02, 2015, 11:58:12 AM
Still looks decent, and recovered from brutal back surgery quite well. Ric says he still flat benches 100lb dumbbells.

Beckles had better biceps peaks than Phil and looked better than the many of the top 10 when he was in his 40s and 50s.

Albert is 77. All the early references line up to support a 1938 year of birth, not a 1930.

Incredible back. He is a lousy interview. Can anyone be more confused on how he trained?  From an eye witness account I heard moderate weights and lots of sets during his best years.

Beckles had very short muscle bellies, but they were packed with muscle.  Crazy peaks.  Quite a unique -- and, needless to say, a very good -- look.

The lies about poundages never stop. ;)

Regarding his age, in my late teens and early 20s, I read "Da Muscle Books" regularly and Beckles was referred to as  "The Ageless Wonder." I'm 50, now, so, he's definitely old as shit.

As he aged he became less "full"? Johnny Fuller used to have that odd stereotypical thick "steroidal bloat" midsection. I remember pics from the 80s Mage of him with that thick waist, that pushed out from the sides. Which contrasts with pics when he was younger.

Loved that guy. Solid as a rock. No real weak points or glaring structural flaws. Never seemed to win, though.

Fuller = 32 sets per bodypart of 32 reps per set........wrapped himself in trash bags during workouts to sweat more.

Forget how he ate but it was unconvential also from what I do recall.

Competed later in life also, but looked like a mere shadow of his former self................some obscure federation.....could`ve been a natty org.,not certain.

Yes, I remember he also used to call him a "Bete noir", in French that's "Dumb Black" so Rick Wayne definitely had some issues, as he was black himself!!
