And I though AUS had outlawed guns. How can this happen?!?

Impossible! Guns are illegal in Asstralia.

Not illegal. Strongly regulated. In addition to which the people are not, as a rule, violence obsessed nutbars existing in a perpetual state of fear. Put together, these make shootings exceptionally rare. Every time there's a shooting, any kind of shooting, it makes national news. Isn't that quaint?

And the attempt to reason that gun control doesn't work because someone got shot is nonsense. It's akin to saying that no one should put oil in their engine because somewhere an engine with oil in it failed anyway. There are probably more shootings in a single American day than there are in an Australian decade. So come on now.
That said, I don't think gun control would work in America. There are too many guns and too many people who want to keep guns, which is understandable given the pervasive violence over there. If I lived in a violent place I'd want a gun too.

A handgun on the black market in Australia runs around $10,000.
This 15 year old didn't find it laying around he was given it to do a someone's dirty work.

Here is a useful text based diagram for imbeciles who cannot draw logically moderated conclusions. As that is a complex sentence for an imbecile, I'll clarify: It is the territory of the moron to take a negative instance, blow it out of proportion and use it to justify the uselessness of ALL attempts to decrease negative instances. The key factor here is that the idea is to decrease, not reduce to zero.
The (not to scale) situation today:
C u n t s Killed
US------------------------------------------------------------Australia------Zero guns/deaths
Have a look at the diagram again, my my my, there is some space in between the US and Australia. A lot of c u n t s killed. When a shooting happens in Australia, it doesn't mean that gun control doesn't work. My hackneyed graph (and the true statistics) will still show a fucking huge difference between the recent shooting. Australia has plenty of c u n t s to kill left, if you're going to prove that gun control doesn't work based on c u n t s dying.
------------------------------------------------------------ <- some work to be done for Australians.
Lots of lucky c u n t s in Australia walking around, unharmed. Feeling safe. Not rushing out to buy guns to make themselves safe :)
Perhaps, if it were possible for the US to be like AU (and it really doesn't look like it is), this might be the diagram after ten years. You'll note that there are still some unlucky people.
US Before--------------------------------US After10----------------------------Australia------Zero guns
Maybe twenty years
US Before--------------------------------US After10------------US After 20----------------Australia------Zero guns
Gun deaths could get to AU levels in the US, it's just going to take way longer (multiple decades) than any political term and people are rightfully afraid of the period of equalisation where they have relinquished their guns and others have not.
The important thing is to not think like a fucking moron. This means looking at the numbers, not the individual occurrences. People will still die. Less of them - that's the goal.

Oh great the strayans are here. Lock the liquor cabinet.

Of course.
Smart post.

All you need is God, country, and gun, and you're set!

I think that lady is 100% serious.

Australia has never had a gun culture, even before the strict gun laws came into effect in 1996 after the Port Arthur massacre. It is illegal to own a gun for personal self defence here, so it's only those who have an occupational need for them who are eligible to own them (farmers, security/defence, etc.). America has gun ownership in their constitution, so naturally it's going to be in the national mindset. What works in Australia wouldn't work in the US.

Of course she is. But she's ignorant as fuck and should be mocked. Imagine, though, if a loved one didn't get the joke.
Reverse it even, someone on the opposite side, but a caricature. Wouldn't you be a bit embarrassed? Shit grinds my gears.

Dumber than rocks; couldn't tell you anything about "all," though.
-
Dumber than rocks, but "all" is just silly.
But some people on here actually believe that. :-\ :-\

Edited. Misread it, I think.

Looks more like Donny's American alter ego to me. The family resemblance is strong.

Donnys ok.... When you think of the heavyweights who have been run off the board, squad,sev,groink... Dons still here taking the shots.

He's an idiot. Having a thick skin when you're an oblivious, mentally deficient retard isn't anything worthy of praise.
He's so toothless that he had one of his gimmicks PM me with threats.
But I do see your point. We come to Getbig partly to laugh at the clowns. Sev used to provide me with many belly laughs.

Watch it there, cupcake or I will set that shit up.

For those that care, any attempt to impose an "Australia-style" forced confiscation of guns in the US would ignite a civil war. There isn't enough federal law enforcement OR military to disarm Texas, let alone the rest of the US.
I actually welcome all feeble-minded progressives (but I repeat myself) to try.
Set it up.

There are also laws against drinking and driving, yet people still do it. Obviously the laws are not working so I guess we should just making drinking and driving legal.

An inefficient argument at best. There are already laws against murder. Does the choice of weapon make the crime worse? If a disturbed individual chose to run over and murder 15 kids at a bus stop, would anyone take issue with his choice of weapon?

After you hit the first one or two people, the others will get out of the way normally. Shoot in a crowded room with an automatic/semi-automatic weapon and you can hit 20 people before they have a chance to react.
Whatever you think about gun ownership you surely can't be blinded by the fact that there is an issue in the USA with gun murders and mass shootings, whatever the cause.

Reasonable brains understand this. A bell that most certainly can't be unrung.

+1. Let's look at a quick analogy. Oregon shooter: legally purchases firearms. Kills around 10. Sydney shooter: harder to get access to guns, kills 1. Sydney siege: only had access to a sawnoff: kills 2. All wanted to commit "jihad". Sure the circumstances were quite different, but you can see where this is heading.
However, the culture in the US will probably never change...
