This is happening a lot in the media. People digging up old photos or youtube vids and pretending it is recent and relevant. CNN and Fox news have been busted a few times doing this.

100% The old world media sites are struggling to stay relevant for the under 45 crowd, they think that by reminding people 5000 times to follow them on twitter and like some article on FB they will become relevant to the crowd that matters most for online advertisers.
