Title: Mental assessment of SELFIES?
Post by: Thong Maniac on October 10, 2015, 08:36:59 AM
What are modern pyschatrists saying about the selfie thing? I mean there must be a legit explanation, right? I mean it must be some form of mental illness correct? Everyone has issues, but this seems so sick, shallow, perverse and vapid. I cant explain how vapid it looks.

What are modern pyschatrists saying about the selfie thing?

They are saying that since people now have cameras with them at all times, people are taking more pictures.

Girls love attention, taking pics and putting them on fb, instagram etc gets them attention.

They did one study where they found people who take more selfies have higher levels of narcissistic traits.

In both studies, participants' total narcissism scores, and measures of all of the narcissism subscales except for Self-Sufficiency, were positively correlated with selfie-posting for men; this was true for all three types of selfies examined. For women, a different picture emerged:Only the Admiration Demand subscale predicted selfie-posting (solo selfies in the first study and selfies with romantic partners in the second study).

I just saw a music video from the 80s and the couple was taking selfies on their Polaroid camera. Nothing new except technology.

"Selfies" were not common behavior during that time period.

Only because the Polaroid camera was too heavy to hold in one hand without it falling down on our faces. That's the whole reason I started lifting.

I first read about the 'selfie stick' maybe a year ago and though "What a fucking ridiculous idea. Who would ever buy one of these..."

I've just come back from Cambodia. It seems the entire Chinese nation gets given a selfie stick with their passport. Actually, the only tourists I didn't see with selfie sticks were the Germans (probably because they're designing a better model before they start using them).

I couldn't have been more wrong. I should have  taken a photo of all the people taking photos of themselves...

Recently I spent a few days in London and noticed how popular selfies/selfie stick usage really is. It was very unsettling at times...dozens and dozens of people with cameras over their heads, sticks out at full extension(#Mirage, #IceMachine :) ), or doing that annoying 360deg twirl to capture all of the scenery with a fake smile given on moments notice. Maybe this is strange to me since I've been living in farm country for three years.

But on another note, I've never seen such a large quantity of hot women in one location.

I take selfies on snapchat and i send them to women. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this and it takes two seconds to take a picture.... and the reward is sex so if i have a mental illness then i am glad i got it sooner than later.

it's amazing to watch, i observed some interesting behaviors....i went to that mall thing and watched as an oriental couple took about 30 selfies in 5 minutes they actually selfied themselves eating some crappy looking cookies taking pics of each other eating them than a pic of the cookie after each bite than a pic of the bag the cookies came out of...for sure some very interesting behaviors. i wasn't intruding they sat down next to me and did this strange eating cookie ritual... ::) ::) ::) ::)

London is full of hot women. They're probably from other places though.

Trapper_Slapper - did you notice if the selfie takers actually looked around them once they'd taken their photos? That was what amazed me most. The temples at Angkor in Cambodia are beyond description, yet thousands of these tourists seemed to have no interest in them at all, other than as background for their own mugshots. They didn't bother to look at anything. Once the shot was taken they moved on to the next 'cool background'.

Los Angeles is dog shit. It also is not a good walking city.

Great world cities like London, Paris, New York, Rome...these are cities that are full of gorgeous women walking the streets.

I have a rating scale that includes athletic build, hip to waist ratio, and includes facial features w/heavy make up usage. The accents may have played a part too...damn near popped a stiffy when one girl said astonishing in a casual conversation. Both white and ethnic(2nd, 3rd+ generation immigrants) alike.

I noticed that too. Majority of the people taking selfies just wanted whatever item that caught their attention in a picture along with their face and nothing more. For example, during the changing of the guard ceremony tourists would walk over from the bus stop, whip out the selfie stick, blast off a couple pics, then continue on to the next destination. Basically proof saying "I was there..." and nothing more.

I don't know, but I travelled to the outskirts of the city and ate at a couple Halal friendly restaurants. There were a lot to choose from... :D

Yes mental illness, which is why so many women are posting selfies. Also some men.

There is probably a linear relationship. On the Y axis you have narcissism. On the X axis you have weekly selfies, daily selfies, and then hourly selfies with dick root and a selfie ring.

Men taking lots of pictures of themselves display feminine energy. It's for women and fags
