is deadlifting twice your weight considered good?

ya thats a pretty good lift , i mean if your a 200 pound man a 400 pound deadlift is good, nt great but not alot of pople can deadlift 400 pounds, i wld say its good, nothing to be extremly excited about

no, i've been working out for a year and a half and can deadlift 455 at bodyweight of 205. three times your weight seems decent, though.

It doesn't matter.
The only thing that matter, is how much you lift.
If you are a short fucker, 5 feet high and weighs 100 lbs, then 200 lbs is no big deal. If you weigh 400 lbs, like a guy at my powerlifting club, then it is gonna be a whole different ballgame to deadlift twice the bodyweight.
Weightclasses are of limited interest IMO.

i totally agree with hedgehog on this one. You can't expect to always lift 2-3 times your bodyweight especially if you actually want to lift it the right way!! Make sure you go till your max lift with great form and that should be good

yes, but not necessarily in that fashion. very short people may be disadvantaged at deadlifts but they can squat and benchpress a shitload. for example, andrzej stanaszek of poland (a midget, less than 4' tall, 114lbs) could squat 6 times his weight and bench press some 3.6 times his weight but his deadlift sucked - less than 3 times his bodyweight.
i guess there is some nonlinear relationship between the height/power ratio as well as leverages, eg. short legs/short arms/long torso --> huge bench press and squat but relatively puny deadlift. it is probably not "good" to be too short or too tall, but "just right."

i think 3 times your body weight is great, its like fat ass guys that weigh 280 at the gym that brag they can hit 225 for 20, i can hit it for 20 and only weigh 190, i think they should do test by body weight, see how many times you can bench your body weght, thats why the combines are stupid
