Probably could've won a few titles had he stuck with it after Arnold retired. Although, because of THE HULK role, he's still the second most popular bodybuilder ever. He looked massive in that Hercules movie.

I'm surprised that Lou for being the second most popular bodybuilder ever doesn't have a special picture collection thread on this board.

At 6 ft 5 and 270 lbs, he was the biggest freak of the seventies:

IIRC, when Lou made his big come-back via the WBF he ended up giving himself Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a well known GH side (Bev Francis encountered a similar problem). Of course, these may have been entirely unrelated to GH use, so I suppose I'm being mean spirited for bringing it up? ;)
Having said that, since all human attributes can be said to be distributed statistically via a bell curve, it's not unreasonable to expect that some people - some as Lou - may be at the upper end of endogenous GH production. Not Andre the Giant territory, but much higher than the general population... So the introduction of GH to such an individual might 'tip their balance' much more quickly than a dude with low natural levels. (Hoping a GetBig expert chimes in here)
(Full disclosure: Big Lou fan here - some of the most balanced arms of all time IMHO)

Wow, thanks for posting this! Took me right back to those days when I trained at World and hung out with Eddie G and Ira Bankowski. I saw Lou at a relatively slim 260 or so, and in about six months he was close to 300! I used to love that shoulder press machine that Lou was using. Another piece made by Joe Gold.
Ira was a real encyclopedia when it came to bodybuilding history. Funny guy as well. He's gone now. Died from a drug overdose I believe. Not 100%
sure though.

I bought a vhs of stand tall for all of about $6 maybe 15 years ago. I didn't know at the time that Ferrigno was possibly the world's most heaviest muscled emo. If you want to spend 82 minutes soaking in the complex and ultimately negative world of Lou Ferrigno, that's the vid to watch. I can sort of see why he'd be a bit of a bitch on account of being so well known, yet still forced to slum it on the convention / competition route selling autographs, but most of the former stars of sci-fi and cult tv have to do the same and it beats actually creating value for some guy who is profiting from your hard work.
