Title: This is a great ice cream
Post by: calfzilla on October 18, 2015, 06:29:51 PM
For when you want to have something sweet but not cheat. I will top it with 1tb of chunky peanut butter and some cool whip. Tastes just as good or better than regular ice cream.

I was looking at that today
I didn't like the artificial sweeteners in it
I think Hagen daaz tastes better!

I've been enjoying a pint of Ben and Jerry each Sunday
I seem to get good pumps the next day ???

You ever try Arctic zero? I've only had cookies creme one so far

We have a lot of homemade ice cream shoppes where I live here
Thick rich hard ice cream made with local ingredients and fresh milk
It's the best

This is different from many other getbiggers who prefer their cream straight from the tap

Not sure about others but for me I'm dieting very low carb so I want to keep sugars low. Not something I have all the time just on occasion to prevent a real cheat.  :-X

I'm sure fat women do eat this a lot. They probably consume 6,000 cals and go for a 15 minute walk and feel good about themselves having a bowl of low sugar ice cream.

Diet ice cream?

Just eat regular ice cream but don't overdo it.

I once had some fat bint tell me she ate diet foods because they had half the calories so she could eat twice as much.

If you're going to eat ice cream, eat the real stuff.

Premium ice cream (full fat) is the best.  Any flavor of Hagen Das or Ben and Jerry's are great.

Had a new ben and jerrys the other day called strawberry not so shortcake. It was basically like those good humor strawberry shortcake bars but in a ice cream pint. Very good. Also love the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake that's out now.

The fatty in me just wishes they made larger sizes. Aside from those limited edition flavors, the cheesecake brownie is one of my all time favorites. And I really wish they'd bring back canoli and peanut butter sundae.

Naturalwonder,
No prob, make sure you go to Wal-Mart, both flavors are exclusive to their stores.

A few bites were good but it gets old real fast then it's just constant pumpkin spice until you force yourself to finish it.

They have a mini version which is enough to satisfy your taste for pumpkin pie but not satisfy your craving for a lot of ice cream.  I got the small and 1/2 through didn't want anymore.  Maybe if you ask them to add extra pie crust pieces and mix it extra well it might be better.  The top 1/3 had a lot of pie crust and it gave it the texture needed but the bottom 2/3 was just the pumpkin ice cream without any pie crust.

I've always found the Edy's "light" Slow Churned to be rather dense and creamy.  One of the better texture & tasting, widely available ones out there.  No weird ingredients.

Ice cream -- By United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards, a food labeled "ice cream" should have at least 20 percent milk solids and 10 percent milk fat by weight. Premium brands are fattier, typically 14 to 18 percent. Both milk and cream are used. Sweeteners account for another 15 percent or so.
Frozen custard -- A touch of egg yolk is what distinguishes frozen custard from commercial ice cream. Legally, custard only has to contain 1.4 percent egg yolk by weight, but some brands have more. The lecithin in the yolk is a natural emulsifier, imparting a richer, creamier texture.
Gelato -- Gelato hails from Italy, and its name is simply the Italian word for "frozen." Gelato traditionally is made using mostly or entirely milk. Having little or no cream reduces fat while intensifying flavors. Gelato's melt-in-the-mouth creaminess comes from sheer density: It's churned with relatively little added air.
Frozen yogurt -- Frozen yogurt blends yogurt (milk fermented with yogurt cultures) with an ice cream base of milk, cream and sweetener. The resulting dessert is both sweet and tangy, cold and creamy. If made with live cultures, frozen yogurt promotes digestive health by encouraging the growth of "friendly" bacteria in the intestinal tract.

In Canada, very few Breyers products are allowed to be called ice cream. Most call themself frozen dessert. It is not all natural by any means.

I would say it's a solid 8 and if you are craving mocha-type ice cream like i was it will be closer to a 10...I was thinking about getting a traditional phish food which is what i always get (chocolate, marshmallow +caramel swirls and fudge fishes lol) but once i saw this i had to try it...didn't disappoint  ;D

i didnt like any of the 'cores' that much... i think i tried them all except for the pb fudge one (ironically, i wanted to try that one most).  think the speculoos one was my favorite.

try the 'tonight dough', it's awesome.

also don't know if they have tillamook where you are, but that's my favorite of the non-premium brands.

Just FYI if you are on a diet I suggest halo top (240 calories per PINT) or Arctic zero (150 calories per PINT) not as good as regular ice cream it it will help with cravings and you can get either or those at whole foods

I went to Amsterdam the last week of November in 2005...I was staying in a studio with a kitchen...So I went to the local grocery store (Albert Heijn)...They had Ben And Jerry's...As an aside, going to a Dutch grocery store is all kinds of fun.

They can get too cute with cores and cookies. After awhile it stops being ice cream.

What makes Half Baked so good is simply the vanilla/chocolate mix.

Tried Chunky Monkey over the weekend. The Banana Ice Cream was very good; however, the walnuts didn't do anything for me. If I want nuts, I'll buy a bag. I don't need them in ice cream. The fudge chunks were oversized, and, because of the cold, extremely hard. I felt that if I bit into one the wrong way, a trip to the dentist would ensue. IMO, softer fillings, like cookie dough and brownies, work better.

Rating: 6/10.

For when you want to have something sweet but not cheat. I will top it with 1tb of chunky peanut butter and some cool whip. Tastes just as good or better than regular ice cream.

With chunky peanut butter ? really, are you 8 ?   you are creating some loud farts there .

I can only assume a lot of these Ben and Jerry's flavors only exist on the east coast because I've never seen them in grocery stores out here.  One to stay away from is the haagen daz spiced pecan turtle

The little turtle chunks have so much clove and ginger it just takes over and burns the back of your throat.  I'm not a fan of cloves and ginger so I hated it but if you are then you might like this.

The best HD flavor is the Belgium chocolate.  Shit is heavenly.

Errrr... no. Not all flavorings taste that good, and some ice creams are way too sweet.
Buy the cheapest one with flavoring x and buy a quality one like Häagen Dazs, B&J, etc with the same flavoring, and then compare their tastings.

It’s fun to make ice cream…and it’s not that much of a hassle…half condensed milk and half regular milk with flavoring…heat as if you are making hot chocolate and stir continuously…when it is about the temperature of hot chocolate…take it off the heat and put it in an ice cream freezer…fill with ice and salt…I like water softener salt rather than ice cream salt…run it until it freezes…quickly take the dasher out and put the ice cream in the freezer to cure.

Someone told me that you can make lemon sorbet by mixing lemonade with lemon Jello mix and heating it as if you are making Jello and put that in an ice cream freezer.

I went through a phase where I made all of my own stuff and got sick and tired of buying all the ingredients, time to make and especially clean up and realized it's just cheaper to buy a pint of Haggen Daz when it's on sale than to buy a quart of cream.

Those were my thoughts exactly. When I want sweets, its probably because it is a cheat meal. I do not want to slave over my cheat meal, unless it is homemade Italian/Mexican. I'd rather buy a pint and veg out on the couch with the lady.

Not that flavor, but that same "slow churned" type; It is good if you are watching your calorie intake, but falls short compared to the higher quality brands (B&J's, HD, etc.)

Tried "Blonde Ambition" by B&J this weekend. The brown sugar ice cream tasted just like vanilla, kinda bland, but I am a sucker for toffee pieces in my ice cream. The highlight of this ice cream was the Blonde Brownie pieces (half an inch thick), but unfortunately there were only like 5 or 6 pieces of them.

Looks and sounds good, especially the brownies.

I didn't do Ice Cream, this weekend. I bought a shitload of mini candy bars for the trick or treaters, and sampled more than my share. Had I added Ice Cream into the mix, I would've ended up in a diabetic coma.

We'll pick it up, again, next weekend. My local supermarket has Edy's Rocky Road, which looks good.

Gave Edy's Rocky Road a shot, this weekend.

With all the extras, I guess to make it less caloric they thinned out the ice cream. It seemed less dense than Fudge Tracks and wasn't as fulfilling. Wouldn't have it, again.

With Edy's slow churned, go with Fudge Tracks.

This is true in Upstate NY. I live in the city. CVS is the cheapest @$6, the supermarkets charge $8-9.

CVS also has self service checkout. So, the ice cream doesn't melt while I wait on line to get to the 300lb cashier.

WAY better than any coconut milk ice cream.

My grocery store has been letting me down as of late with ice cream selections.
I think it is due to the change in seasons. Luckily Blue Bell is restocking in my area this past week.

This week's ice cream:  Ben & Jerry's Peanut Buttah Cookie Core

This is the second time I've had this ice cream, it is one of my all-time favorites. If you love peanut butter, you will love this ice cream.

"Peaunt Butter Ice Cream with Crunchy Peanut Butter Sugar Bits (*THESE ARE THE SHIT*), Peanut Butter Cookies & Peanut Butter Cookie Core"

Overall: 9 out of 10
tried it today
Was incredible
I agree 9 of 10

Couldn't find any of the new flavors; however I did find this

*Wal-Mart Exclustive* Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter & Cookies

Sweet Cream Ice Cream with Chocolate Sandwich Cookies & Crunchy Peanut Butter Swirl

This is just your basic cookies and cream ice cream, but with a twist! There is a crunchy peanut butter swirl that gives this basic ice cream a new dimension. The peanut butter swirl is the same that you find in the very delicious Peanut Butter Cookie Core B&J special. At first I wasn't impressed with this carton, until I hit the paydirt (peanut butter swirl) towards the bottom of the carton. It was well worth the perseverance. I would recommend this ice cream if you enjoy peanut butter.

Pros:
•The Peanut Butter swirl!
•The GIANT pieces of cookie sandwiches

Cons:
•Not enough Peanut Butter
•cookies almost too big; made my mouth dry at one point

Overall: 8 out of 10

Once you start eating Edy's it's hard to go back to B&Js. Edy's is just as good and you get much more quantity for essentially the same number of calories.

This pic is making me cry.  :'( I cut way down on sugar about two weeks (hardcore sugar addict here) and have been allowing myself one overtly processed sugary thing every few days.  Saturday, I took the family to smash burger and had a butterfinger shake for the first time. I spent Sunday basically feenin for another one. My office is only a few blocks from the midtown smash burger and it is taking all of my willpower not to run over there to buy three shakes, but I am not scheduled for another sugar bomb until weds. I have NEVER clicked on this thread before today, but I'm such a wreck this was the first thread I clicked on. And you had to post that DAMNED WHORE-FACED BUTTERBITCHFINGER ICE CREAM CUP PIC! Blue Bell's newest:

Really good Cookies and cream ice cream with chunks of Cookie Dough. What I love about BB is they dont skimp on the mix-ins. For the most part they're pretty well loaded. And whoever recommended the Cherry Vanilla, thanks so much. It was also very good, yet nice and simple.

If youre on a budget from buying tons of chicken and tilapia, Wal-Mart actually makes a decent ice cream. Nothing spectacular, but just as good as Mayfield or even Edy's imo. And they're not stingy on the 'inclusions' either. So far I've tried the Strawberry Cheesecake and my one critique would be that the graham pieces were a little too hard, but otherwise I thought it was pretty good.

I've tried this.  High overrun (lots of air), ice crystals... bad quality.

The smaller dairies are always superior.

So i saw the Twinkies ice cream and also the Chocolate cupcake.  Didn't see the Pink Snowball.  The Twinkie Ice cream is okay.  A light butterscotch flavor with frozen cake pieces that are really hard to taste.  It's okay and I'd give it a 6/10.  The chocolate cupcake ice cream is fucking amazing.  I'm not a big chocolate fan either.  It's chocolate batter ice cream that's rich and smooth and the dense frozen chocolate pieces are so tasty.  Honestly one of the best Ice Creams I had in a while and easily a 9/10.  I crumbled some oreo cookies to give it a bit of a crunch that it was missing or else it'd be a 10/10.

So I found the Sno Ball Ice Cream.  I give this one a 4/10.  It had a gross sunscreen coconut flavor with cake pieces.  I thought it would have been strawberry or something.  I wouldn't touch this one.  Stick to the Chocolate Cupcake.  Shit is awesome.  I crushed some thin mints I got from some girls scouts on top.  So good.

We have a chain of stores here called Stewarts.......great ice cream.........."Crumbs Along The Mowhawk" = Graham cracker pieces in graham cracker flavored ice cream.

Sounds weird, but the shit is orgasmic.

I've heard that shit is top notch!

I'd have to pay $100+ to get that shipped to TX though.  :'(

Best ice cream ive ever had (including my norwegian grandmothers home made ice cream) was in mexico. No idea what makes it different down there, but it's fucken delicious. Nothing better than spending a couple weeks in a 2 story all-inclusive resort suite in Cancun ordering room service alllllll night. 1 cheeseburger and 3 orders of brownies & ice cream every 2 hours. :)

Funny you say this. Do you think Hagen daaz is the same everywhere? While in Mexico I had some that was better than I had here. Same over seas. Is it all made in the same plant then shipped worldwide or do they use better creameries outside of here?

Will do it tomorrow.  :D :D

I love when they mix a candy with an ice cream (butterfinger, nestle crunch, etc). Absolutely brilliant.

I have no clue. All i know is it's by far better than any other ice cream I've ever had. Including grandma (who was a norwegian cook/baker in the midwest & and my dad's homemade ice cream)... Start missing/craving it the minute i get back on that plane heading home and after touchdown, first thing i do is stop at walmart (only place open 24hrs) and pick up some vanilla and either some bakery brownies or Lil Debbie brownies on the way home... Only to be disappointed. :(

Tried this yesterday. If you loved the old Drumstick cones, pick this up asap. It's a BB flavor that I hope sticks around for a long time. I had planned on going to DQ for an Ice Cream cheat, but this stuff more than did the job.

I had a pint of that on Saturday. It was worth it.

Glad to see Blue Bell stepping back out of their comfort zone again.
