Title: Coming back to being a Perma Bulker
Post by: bigbadwolfe on October 18, 2015, 06:38:10 PM
Blew my pec out yesterday in a bench contest. Two weeks ago I had a slight tear in it with 680 off a 1 board, felt it tear at the lockout. Spent the last two weeks trying to rush rehab it with ice massage and tens unit. Showed up at contest down by Nashville yesterday opened with 630 smoked it. I then jumped to 655 felt it pull a bit on my chest but pushed it anyways lost it bout half way up. Took it again and as soon as I went to push "POP" went the pec and it sat on me. I thought I truly had a legit shot at 680-700 at this meet but my body said other wise. I weighed in at a HUGE 424 which was one pound off my all time biggest.

I promised the wife after this contest I would back off everything and focus on getting healthy again. I'm a fucking mess right now, BP is through the roof, arthritis is fucking killing me, knees are both shot and my anxiety is out of the fucking roof. So as I sit here eating my last Sunday night Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia Ice Cream for a year I'm figuring out my game plan to drop this chub and become a stud again.

Wish me luck and dedication fuckers!!! When I'm all said and done there will only be one Big Bad Wolfe everyone will be Dennis who? Hahahaha!!!!

Godspeed brother....

Sorry to hear about the injury. Why did you compete with a tear?

I trained for 12 weeks going into a contest in August where I was set to bench 700 got a flu bug the day before spent all night before met shitting my guts out. So my ego was not gonna let me miss this one. I said I was gonna hit something big or tear something, sadly enough it was the latter :(

Ego kills sometimes and it got me this time!!! I will compete again just need toget my fat ass back in half way decent shape

Saying no to pain is a bit ch when youre committed. I feel you there. 424 is off the charts though. Drop the pl dream and go to 250 or whatever suits your height. Whatever about the woman, put yourself first and drop the weight.

I love powerlifting and I understand the mentality but there has to be a time when you have to say there's a time to back off not because of the injuries but because of the weight. When ever I see Meeker or Mendelson (I saw that he finally lost some) they look like they're going to keel over. You have to feel like shit at that weight. No?

I don't see the need for the extra bodyweight? Getbig has guys who bench those poundages and they weigh 185 lbs with a 29-inch waist!

(Get better soon and drop the extra lbs as soon as you can)

Heal up and do that again, no need to prove yourself, you already have many times over.

Got any pics of yourself at 424lbs? It must be hell just walking around at that weight. How much were you eating to get that big?

Good luck in your goals though. You need to drop around 200lbs though. This stuff ain't worth dying for.

Usually strains comes when I'm overtrained and joints and tendons are tender and stiff. And if I feel a strain somewhere I know it's a bad sign. something is about to give..

hard lesson you had to learn... guess it's harder to do when comitted to something for long though.. those are crazy numbers.

The selfish side of me wants to see Big Mike sauced to the gills, eating everything in sight and cranking out 800 pound bench presses but I also realize he has a family to take care of.

Dude I got a diet that my boy used to drop fifty pounds in like 7 weeks. Buy yourself a a big thing of cellery sticks and a jar of peanut butter. Six times a day you're going to take a cellery stick and fill it with peanut butter and eat it. That's all you're allowed to eat. Then along with that you're going to drink 2 gallons of water a day. Also an hour of cardio every morning. Weights are super light for sets of 50. Dude do this like I laid it out with NO exceptions or changes and you will be freakin shredded in a couple of months.

Haha...Yes  8)

Super-heavy powerlifting and all that comes with it--a motley assortment of co-morbidities caused by the practices involved: morbid obesity, sleep apnea, muscle tears and dysfunction, frayed tendons and joints, shattered teeth, organ dysfunction, which all can make one a fucking cripple as early as one's forties--are all worth the plastic trophies (if they are gotten) and the respect of the "fitness community".  ;D
