Just wondering. I was just in the gym it's early morning I was doing biceps straight barbell curl and I was tempted...didn't do it though

this is exactly what I was thinking and what stopped me..I'm like I gotta stay true to what has worked for me in the first place..plus when I do arms I take very minimal rest

Music via bluetooth and phone in bag. Walking around with your phone in hand in public gyms is just an asshole thing to do.
Nobody is dying to text or call you at every moment of every day, and if they are, then they can wait an hour or two.

Nobody is dying to text or call you at every moment of every day, and if they are, then they can wait an hour or two.
That's weird...Pretty much everyone is walking around with a phone in every gym i've been in the past 2-3 years...Whether jacked or not...It's usually 99% of teenagers/early 20's...And about 70% of everyone else

I usually like to be early to places...So i'm at the gym usually 1.5hrs before work in the morning...Whereas my workouts only take anywhere from like 35-50 minutes....I'm not generally in a rush

I lift at home. ... usually watch a movie or an old ufc event. Otherwise I play with my kid as she often likes to hang out while I lift.

Funny i thought of you this morning as i flushed a big turd away.

Once I had my phone stolen and didn't have a replacement until 5 days later. In those 5 days I got to realize how silly society has become, in the absence of a phone, looking around you; all you see is people staring at a screen. At the gym there was this guy who was charging his phone, and between each set he would run to the frontdesk to see if he had any messages, prior to browsing on his phone for 5-10min and doing another set.
Worst part is, I don't think he actually knew he was doing it. Much like I doubt people are cognitively aware they reach for their phone every few minutes, or react to the slightest buzz or ping like a pavlov dog, when otherwise completely oblivious to everything around them. Moreover, this behaviour can be observed across generations, with kids as young as 6 owning the latest phone, and grandpa/ma's receiving their fancy tablets. Sickening.
You don't need a phone with you when you're training. Matter of fact, you don't need a phone at any given time of the day other than when you're reasonably expecting to be called (at work or pre-arranged). Music on, minimal rest or as required, and get it done.

I'm with you 100% on this...Unfortunately it's only going to get worse...We are the minority in this situation...And i keep my phone on me and sometimes i'll check it and look at it between sets...But whatever lol...I'm not looking at it every 2 seconds and i get my workout in...I also keep it in my pocket while i lift because i do not trust anyone at the gym with my things in room...I don't carry a lock because i'm not a homosexual

yes lol sometimes i'll listen to what song is on in the gym these days and almost start laughing at how pathetic it is. Couldn't get anyone except for a 6 year old girl pumped up. I mean Paris Hilton? LOL. Please...I was never able to wear headphones and listen to music and function...I'd be way too oblivious...I need all my senses to function normally....

In general it doesn't. Except when during busy hours some fuckwad hogs a bench/rack/machine and insists you can't work in and that he has 2 more sets of 10min browsing on his phone.

I usually do a 10 count in my head and start my next set or if I'm still not ready I'll take a drink of water.
lol, don't want to be at the gym more then I need too so I work out fast.
