NEver understood why when my dumbbell bench goes up my barbell bench doesn't necessarily go up. But when my barbell bench goes up my dumbbell bench goes up ???
What about you guys? Also what assistance exercises help your barbell bench the most?

Try Phil Heath's technique for chest development.
Mr Olympia is so narrow that he uses a single dumbbell grabbed with two hands instead of a regular barbell for bench pressing :)

I've found if I use higher rep DB presses thrown in earlier in the training cycle it can help put some mass on the pressing muscles which later on gives me some carryover, though floor presses are a favorite of mine when it comes to bench press assistant work

Maybe for you BB press is stricter because the plane of movement is simpler and thus harder for you and more productive. With DB´s you can move free and maybe you cheat some what. Best assist exercises for me are Parallel Bar dips and close grip benches..forget the wide grip bollocks.

When i could do 405 for reps best i could get on db bench was 150s for 15,granted no higher dbs at time.but those 150s were very heavy and felt harder than 405.

Junior inclines the 130s like toys.

dumbells more pec. bench = more delt.
its because the bells effectively move the weight inwards. the bench keeps your pecs from complete contraction (not complete tension, both do that). the bench also technically stops short of triceps complete contraction.
