Title: Older home vs new BMW 328i
Post by: DanzigBrah on November 21, 2015, 04:01:43 PM
Which would you choose. The house is older and needs repairs.

The BMW will give you the power to drop panties.

The downside of you choose the BMW is that you continue to live in a 1960's one bed one bath apartment.

What would you do?

I custom ordered a 435i convertible with M Performance package. Best decision ever. I love that car.

Why would a guy buy a sports sedan with a small engine? 335 at least.

There is a decent price difference. But there are also a lot of cosmetic differences between a '28 and '35 model. People should buy within their means.

BMW's are pieces of shit.  Hope this helps.

LOL@3 series.  You really think anyone looks twice at a fucking 3 series BMW?  You are out of your mind.

Fuck man, that is a 2 full day drive from Indy one way. Let's fly back to Indy after Vegas then drive down and back. Florida will only be a 16 hour drive one way. I need to put some miles on it. I have had it 1 year this week and I just turned over 2,000 miles. Btw, have you talked to my friend I PM'd you about?

Don't pay attention to people ^^ who can't buy something yet are first to tell you what is what. I'd say 335 would be a lot better, unless you don't want diesel engine. Not sure about the choice, depends whether you need that house a lot. You can be sure youll have lots of fun and good memories with a new/powerful car, that's for sure. I took a few days trip to another country with few of my friends with my friends a8 (2014) long, half of the fun in a trip was the car, and not because the rest was lame, it's just such a huge pleasure to travel long distance with such a car that you simply don't want to get out when it's time. Fukk it was awesome.

I should clarify.

Its not that they are pieces of shit, they just aren't built as great as they used to be and there is nothing special at all about their look anymore.

They devalue so fast these days thats its even ridiculous to consider to buy a new one.  You have to REALLY love that car if you want to go that route.  If you are wavering at all, don't do it.

Their build quality has been in the toilet for over two decades now and there is no indication that it is set to change.

Last great BMW's were built in the early 90s and late 80s.  You want a good BMW, get one of those.

Come on buddy, don't take it as a personal insult.  Its just a car.  Have you forgotten what I told a while back when you were dealing with illness?  I haven't.

I was not trying to insult you at all.  You are not a BMW.  (I am not biased because I own a Mercedes Benz   :D)

I hope you realize that current cars are a lot more complex, the technologies that add a lot more pleasure to drive are ore prone to issues, becuase they are not as simple.
80's 90's cars are a huge pile of shit, compared to current good cars, which safer, more comfortable, more pleasureable to drive by eons. The most expensive of the german "hing ends"are MB S class, ridiculously expensive, but I drove it once and it's so fukkin good it's not even funny. After car like that not many other cars can feel like they are nice to drive. Fukkin night vision and auto-pilot if one falls asleep, laser or led head lights, I don't even fukkin know what's that, but driving at night is something out of this world so please don't tell me that thirty years old cars are better. It's apples and oranges. A lot more can go wrong in current cars, that's right, but when it's all good - you gotta be kiddin.

I also own an S class moron.

Anyways, cars that are less complex are more fun to drive and any automotive purist will tell you the same.  Actually go to a track one day and they will all tell you the same thing when it comes to sports cars, driving in general- Less is more.

Hope this helps.

Completely biased/subjective opinion, nothing more. I'm a big car enthusiast too and I love current cars. They are not perfect, but still awesome engineering.

If you own S class (I guess that's an old one) you are moron yourself, because it doesn't add up. That S class was the "expensive hi end car" some years ago, just older (and newer than the cars twenty years before it).

I guess dude is not buying it for a "track"anyway.

Its my wifes car to be honest and I never drive it really.  I have a really old Mercedes for myself.

I am looking at getting something else soon.  A few years ago I had a 1966 Cadillac Coupe De Ville Convertible which I sold to a The Auto Collections in Vegas which is a car museum/hotel/casino there.  I want another one or maybe a Delorean or Austin Healey.  Have not decided at all yet.

Comparing a Corvette to a Camry, yeah that makes sense.  In that video the Camry was faster around the track too.

Deprecating asset vs Appreciating asset.

Unless the home is situated on a nuclear waste dump it is a far better place to put your money.

Nobody had a good time in the Camry.  Everyone had a good time in the old vette.  Hope this helps.

Unless you want the gals to drop panties in your BMW, you should consider going for the house. On the other hand, should you become homeless, a BMW might be considered nice digs. A 1960's one bedroom and one bath apartment seems like a hovel.

Don't get a new BMW or any BMW past 2005. Pieces of shit and will fall apart on you after 50-60k miles with astronomical repair bills for "specialty" BMW parts straight from Germany.

Every other fucker has a 3 series where I come from, or an Audi A3/4...boring. The house is an investment and a project. The car's novelty will wear off within a couple of weeks. I bought a brand new fiesta ST last year for the Mrs and I personally already want to get it remapped/tuned.

Meh, I can deal with who they attract, because chavs seem to like most hot-hatches, so you're buggered either way. It's the same as how Mercs/Bimmers/Vws/Audis have been commandeered by "ethnic minorities" and when I look at them now am instantly reminded of them, yet I'd still happily have an E46 M3...you take that mentality what are you left with? If it drives well and is good value for money, I'm happy.

Plus it does 38 to the gallon at 14k mileage. Not many petrol sports cars do that.

What I mean is that the aesthetics of a ford fiesta st are chavy.

I mean look at it:

I would gladly own any of these oldschol american cars for weekend rides, but it's a completely different cup of tea/different eras of cars, I'm sure one could find positives in these, it doesn't mean the new ones are crap tho'. I would not like to go on a long trip in a 60's caddilac, well at least not regulary.
