Chicago cops accused of deleting Burger King surveillance video footage of the Laquan McDonald shooting by police. What the police who deleted the footage didn't know was that there was another surveillance camera in the Burger King manager's office recording what they were doing.

Chicago!? Pfft. Now, let's talk Detroit. Those guys know how to pervert justice.

If there is one thing that the people of Chicago have always insisted on, it is the complete honesty of its elected officials and public servants.

Cops were caught on camera at the console, cops were not "caught on camera deleting evidence". FBI Digital Forensics analyst doesn't find the video tampered with. But really, will any of that matter?

Why were they in there & what were they doing.
Was 86 min of tape missing or is that a lie.
With the amount of cops around when the scumbag 17yr old
Was Executed were they lacking in accurate eyewitness testimony.
Plush they have the video that is Posted.

I am going on what I THINK at this point based on my own experience.
Anytime there is a deadly force situation and someone is seriously injured or killed, any and all available witnesses and video are sought out so they were there likely trying to down load the video evidence. As every commercial business has their own system, the systems could vary on how to properly download the information. They may not have been familiar with it. Not sure why it takes 3 hrs but even deleting on purpose wouldn't take 3 hrs so it's as harmless as it is suspicious.
I think there was 86 minutes of video missing. Machines vary greatly from old fashioned VHS to digital. There could be anywhere from 8 hrs to a week of video stored that was available to them. What part of that is missing would be important as it could have been irrelevant.
I doubt the fact any of it is missing has gone unanswered during the investigation. The officers there, where they members of an investigative unit assigned to work the case or street patrolmen? I would think if an error occurred in retrieving the video, it will be looked at, especially under such circumstances . I would be curious as to the FBI analyst report on it. It may explain what likely happened.

What were the cops doing there, then? Cops go into fast food places all the time....it's never an issue.....Why did the store manager claim cops were trying to destroy the footage? What possible reason would be have to make that statement?
In the article posted, the city's settlement with the family included a clause that they (the family) not release the shooting footage. It just seems weird......
-
Any time there is a shooting and potential video surveillance, police will act quickly to secure the video footage. Often times the video footage is looped to save money on storage space. If police interrupted the recording, it's possible that the footage was lost. Just because the police tried to obtain the footage as they always do doesn't mean they erased it or did so on purpose. They knew there were multiple dashcams anyway.

They sure do...... In this case, the "missing" data probably coincides with the video footage the victim's family has......that was bought with a settlement.
If you notice when video footage is needed to clear an officer of wrongdoing, that footage is released immediately upon receipt. If footage is damaging in any way, it is somehow lost or delayed in being released.

The mayor, Rahm Emanuel, fired the police superintendent in an effort to take some of the heat off of himself. The black community is calling for resignation/termination of the state's attorney (Anita Alvarez) too. There was another officer involved shooting the same month - no witness have been contacted and no charges brought on that case at this point.
The mayor is a sack of shit though - his kid was beaten up and robbed during a drug deal gone awry and he fined over 100 officers for looking at the report. He purposely delayed these cases because he was up for reelection.

And when they asked her who had done the investigation to confirm this she responded that she had nothing else to say. Haha

That young lad may very well have been a Scumbag
And America may be better off without him.
Only it's Not for that Cop To Be Judge,Jury & Exectioner.
As for The State Attorney !!!
Are they also untouchable & allowed to Behave like That.

But we know it was the FBI
then why didn't she say so?
-
And when they asked her who had done the investigation to confirm this she responded that she had nothing else to say. Haha
Exactly. She did her job by not answering the question.
Anyone with knowledge of the law would know that as a prosecutor she can't answer every question asked of her BY LAW. She must refrain from making extrajudicial comments that have a substantial likelihood to cause public condemnation or give extra insight into the investigation that is not necessary to inform the public of the charge.
So if she answered that the state (some investigator) or the FBI viewed the tapes - it would be delving into the investigation and bringing to light the guilt or innocence (likelihood prejudices of the public) of the accused. It's a no-win situation with morons in the media that spin an omission to an answer.

They'll would start digging up sonogram pics, but that would destroy their argument that abortion isn't murder, so they'll stick to the cap and gown pics for now.

It doesn't matter whether the victim was Hitler and Satan's grandchild once removed......
What matters is that he was killed by lowlife cowards that committed an act worse than anything Laquan (or whatever his name was) did.....murder.

I don't think it would be an issue if it wasn't 16 shots. He was armed with a knife, he was acting erratic, he was not following orders, at the time he was shot he made a sudden move spinning around.. They didn't know if he had a handgun or not. If it was one or two shots I don't think anyone other than the usual crowd gets upset. The fact it was 16 shots... that's a problem

I'll agree with that. Coupled with the video tampering allegations, it looks bad for the cops involved.

Well hell, if you want to turn down that hypothetical street don't stop with a hand gun- that spook might have had the detonator switch for a one megaton nuclear bomb- maybe even a ten megaton nuclear bomb. The truth is, he didn't have a gun. No gun.
Oh I'm glad he got clipped. He should have stayed on the sidewalk.

Trying to use the reasonableness thing here.. it is not unreasonable for an officer to assume a character like this may be armed with a handgun. Happens quite often. Detonator switch for a 1 meg nuclear bomb.. unlikely. Not impossible but unlikely.
-

I think the tampering issue will resolve itself. I don't have any concern that it was tampered with.. no real reason to do so. the 16 shots.. hard to argue you thought you were in imminent danger when the guy is down on the ground and only moving due to bullets striking him. I could even seen 4 or 5 shots as they happen rapidly and with reaction time etc would be understandable.. but an entire clip.. basically firing until you ran out of bullets.. not reasonable in my opinion
-

Yup.... If only a few shots were fired, it would have been viewed as bringing a knife to a gunfight scene. Instead, it's a big mess....

Happens quite often that perps have a handgun on them, not a detonator for a nuclear bomb.
They were chasing a drug-addled hebrew thug on the street after all.
-
He was shot a bunch of times in the arms and legs. I wonder which shot was the fatal one? Hopefully not the 16th.

Yes they were that.
Only the other cops there were not seemingly worried
Or endangered by his antics & 3 inch knife 20+ft away.
Then The Judge, Jury , & Executioner All in one Rolls up.
A few seconds & 16 shots later Mr Hebrew Scumbag is Dead.

They needed a warrant for the video.

Laquan was a lowlife thug criminal....Good riddance....Why do Blacks make hero's of scumbags? What does that say about Black culture?
-
They didn't know if he had a handgun or not.
worst bullshit argument in the history of getbig. shoot him 1-2 times cause they didn't know if a man who showed zero gun, might have one? Shit. Rock bottom time here lol.

Who said he was a hero? What does it have to do with race?
If you're too stupid to realize that this person was killed due to excessive force, that's on you.
Despite all the crimes the "lowlife thug criminal" committed in his life, execution style murder wasn't one of them.

While I generally try and scroll past your comments regarding anything outside of the political realm, I'll respond to this
In any given situation, the totality of the circumstances are looked at. The courts have held many times that it is from the point of the officer at that time that we must review it. Not with 20/20 hindsight from the safety of our desks.
In this situation, the subject was not responding to direction, was armed with a knife and was possibly under the influence of a mind altering substance. There is a commonly taught 21' rule when dealing with subjects armed with a knife. The common school of thinking is that within 21 feet the subject becomes a potential deadly threat. Add the sudden movement just before the shots (It appears to me the movement came before the shots, but I could be wrong) and with the knowledge of action verses reaction, I believe it was not an unreasonable response. If he did produce a handgun during the spin, you would potentially lose the gun fight as the subject would fire first. The officer could have perceived the movement as beginning a charge at an officer as the movement was a sudden change in behavior.
It will be up to the jury to determine what was reasonable. They will have access to all the information. I was discussing this the other day with a co worker and the interesting thing for me will be how they separate the actual shooting, as in "Was deadly force authorized due to the circumstances?" if yes... how are they going to address the "Was 16 shots reasonable?". If not.. how do you go about sentencing for that.. IN other words, you had every right to use deadly force, however, you used too much?

ok...so I looked at this video again trying to imagine your scenario. ( ignoring the $5mil payout, murder charge etc.)
macdonald spins away (360) from the officer then falls facing toward him again.
your argument is that the first shots came after the spin so let me know how you can explain the shots in the back of the body (first shots according to you) as self defense.... ???

I think there were two bullet entry wounds in the back. This could have come during the spin, the sudden movement triggering the response to shoot. If I indicated the officer didn't fire until the spin was complete then that was not the intention. But the officer could have fired prior to the movement, which should be easy to determine with audio from the officer that fired the shots dash cam. I'm not married to the idea at this point that it was after the sudden movement and it could be that the initial shots caused it. If that is the case, I think it would be hard to prove the shooting was justified. Regardless of that, there is also the issue of creating a lethal situation by an officer. When the officer has information the subject is armed with a knife, which I am making an assumption that at that point the information should have been available, and you pull up in your unit, and exit with no cover between you and the subject, you kind of create a deadly force potential that didn't have to be.

When it comes to Agnostic, he will hardly ever go against the police force. He thinks cops are, as you said, infallible. He most likely believes that a cop would never lie, cheat, or fabricate anything. I would put money that the MAJORITY of cops are crooked, they just don't get caught due to the cult-like nature of the police force.....no one talks.

what was removed? The "lunge" that only the shooter witnessed?
No, nothing was removed. The State said that the youtube video that is being used by protestors and media is edited. Edited by pausing the shots fired noises and then having the officer take a 7 second break from shooting then continuing to shot. Making the shooting appear (sound) like the cop had more malice.

Yes, it is possible, it is also possible he wasn't. Obviously with the charge pending, there was enough PC to believe he wasn't.

YOu said..."It's possible he was acting in self defense but your scenario doesn't help" I said "Yes it is possible (he was acting in self defense) but it's also possible he wasn't (acting in self defense) The pending charges seem to indicate there is enough probable cause to believe he wasn't (acting in self defense)
