Title: MMA Fighter dies cutting weight
Post by: NarcissisticDeity on December 11, 2015, 03:17:03 PM
It was bound to happen. 21 years old

Tragic news out of Asia hit one of MMA’s biggest fight weekends of the year when ONE Championship officials today announced 21-year-old fighter Yang Jian Bing passed away following his weight-cutting efforts prior to ONE Championship 35.

Yeah it happens.  The weight cut is probably a greater risk than the actual fight for some fighters who push the limits to make weight.  Wouldn't be surprised if diuretics are involved.

Aldo is deep in Connor's psyche.  Poor little Connor has no idea what he is walking into.  Aldo is a natural born killer, he was cool and calm and Connor looked like he was going to cry.

90% of the mma and boxing champs who are belt holders today would be journeymen if they went back to same day weigh-ins

Would be lethal if they fought on the same day as weigh-in.

they should bring back same day weigh in and if u fail to make weight u get 2 chances to try to make it

if u dont they should give 50% off the earnings to the other fighter. that way no more of this iv drip bullshit

i dont really see the need to cut that much weight in mma there is a big gap in weight between classes specifically made by dana so the

fighters dont have to cut so much weight.

I never understood why the fighters have to "make" thge weight. Why dont they stay at a good weight for them all the year instead of killing themselves to make the weight and then bulking up in two days? Arent they weakend by this starvation?

You're 100% correct and yes, they are weaken.

It's not starvation it's water manipulation.

To be 'big' at the weight, potentially being around 12lbs or more heavier, that's why most don't carry the sane power as they move up in weight classes, especially with boxing

Shitty weight cuts are due to either lack of willpower (not properly dieting) and/or trying to fight in a weight class that is not natural for your body.

If you truly live the lifestyle, and fight at your proper weight, then cutting should not be an issue.

I think the weight cut is part of the crooked shit along with doping etc. N'gga weighs 200 normally, cuts down to 185  ::)

If people would fight with their natural weight, people who are champions now would not be. I can't see mcgregor dominating anyone at 155, he weighs 170-175 when he's offseason and crushes his body with the weight cut to go 145, some of those guys in 155 walk around 190-200, lmao

Then how would I be able to tie my shoes, or be able to gaze into your mother's eyes as she is blowing me?

This.

These two are the poster children.  Jacobs has cotton mouth, and Qullin cut to 159 when he hasn't done in almost 2 yrs.  What was the result? Qullin lost fluid from around the brain and so went his punch resistance.

Joe Rogan will have a field day with this on his podcast. He brought up this same topic last week; saying the massive cutting process/IV drip needs to be banned.

Dude,he just got the shit beat out of him period.

They both gained back a considerable amount of weight after the weigh -in.

Review Rios vs Bradley if you want to see a guy fighting to make weight and rehydrating to a monster.  Qullian hasn't been under 160 in almost 2yrs, has been doing catch-weight fights. Bring Canelo down to 154 instead of 155 and re-hydrate him. Then, pay close attention to his performance on fight night vs him cutting to 155.  He'll be sluggish and chinny like the FMW vs walking through shots against Cotto.  o

I don't think so. I think what would happen is a few who drastically lose a ton of water for weigh ins would simply get beat and wouldn't have much of a career at the pro level. It would get people at or near their correct weight to fight near their weight. It would be much much safer.
