Man’s hoard of nearly 5,000 guns shows ease of amassing arms in U.S
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-guns-stockpile-insight-idUSKBN0TM2LU20151204
As sheriff’s investigators threaded past the battered cars, cast-off tires and rusted farm equipment cluttering Brent Nicholson’s front yard, there was no hint of the sinister stockpile hidden behind his windowless front door.
Inside, the guns were everywhere: rifles and shotguns piled in the living room, halls and bedrooms; handguns littering tables and countertops. Outside, when they rolled up the door on the pre-fab metal garage, more arms spilled out at their feet.
“This has completely changed our definition of an ass-load of guns,” said Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks. Six weeks after the discovery, officers are still cataloging the weapons, many of which have proved stolen, and the final tally is expected to be close to 5,000. “I don’t know if there’s ever been (a seizure) this big anywhere before,” Brooks says.

If only he were a better saleman than a hoarder of guns. how much you want to bet he was scared someone was "going to take his guns"? And look, somebody did.

I posted pictures above.
Was there legal right to take his guns? They suspect he may be selling, although his wife and neighbor says he has never sold them.

We're any laws broken? If not, this is a non-story. 5000 is a decent start, but he'll need to kick it up a notch if he wants to be top-tier.

What's next? Coming for a man's record collection?

They were investigating other stolen property, and stumbled upon the weapons after serving a subpoena. Pretty sure this guy is fucked. Many of the weapons don't have serial numbers. Doesn't sound like he's your average collector. :-\
Nicholson had been charged earlier in the week with selling opium and heroin in Union County, WBTV reported.
Deputies in that case went to Nicholson’s house on Friday to serve him with a subpoena.
They found chainsaws and a welder “in plain sight” on the front law that had been reported stolen only days earlier, that station and The Observer reported. The deputies knew because they had written the stolen property reports.
“They went to a judge and got a search warrant and went back to the house and found literally thousands of guns,” Brooks told The Observer. “They secured the scene and called everybody in. We’ve been there ever since and we’ll probably be working on this into next week.”
Brooks said Nicholson has a “lengthy record,” according to the newspaper.

He's fucked.
"Among the thousands of guns, Nicholson also allegedly had piles of stolen goods. Brooks hasn't been able to determine just how many guns were stolen in Nicholson's arsenal, as hundreds have had their serial numbers removed, making them impossible to trace.
The chain of events started when a sheriff's deputy pulled over Nicholson for running a stop sign on Oct. 21, at the state line in North Carolina. Nicholson's pickup truck had bogus plates, and the deputy also saw several rifle barrels behind the seat when he approached the vehicle.
During the search, 20 rifles, nine hand guns and just under 200 hydrocodone pills were found, and several of the guns were stolen. The sheriff's department arrested Nicholson on charges of suspicion of possessing stolen weapons, trafficking in opiates and vehicular violations. While Nicholson was still in jail, a deputy served a subpoena at the home, noticing stolen equipment in the yard, prompting the raid the next day."

A search of their homes would certainly find a a dog-eared copy of the "Communist Manifesto."

Let's not forget that he had illegal drugs and prescription opiates, and bogus plates, and had stolen chainsaws and a welder. And the fact that selling illegal drugs and possessing of firearms tend to hand in hand. So, this guy is basically a criminal/dealer/addict/hoarder.

I didn't, hence why I only posted the first few paragraphs. I was posting more about the amount of guns he had; its impressive, whether or not he did it legally or illegally. I suspect it would take a lot of time to amass that many guns.

You're such a fucking braindead retard. If the photos above had several human heads interlaced with the guns the hard on you got from seeing some redneck "defend his 2nd amendment rights" would have distracted you from seeing the mutilated corpses.
A cat hoarder can't sell cats that kill to people who are unfit to own a killing device, which (most) cats are not. A gun hoarder who steals guns can sell them to nutjobs and cartels looking for "clean" guns. You are so fucking stupid you need alphabet soup read to you.

Whoa, with 5000 guns this guy must've at least killed 50,000 people, right? Because people with guns are so dangerous. Or maybe he was waiting to get to 10,000 guns before losing it and going on a rampage. Right, libtards?

thanks to the gunshow loophole.
he can sell all 5,000 guns to a dude in an ISIS t-shirt, who has warrants, who is an illegal alien, who is chanting death to USA...and he's on the terror watch list.
he can sell all 5,000 to this imaginary dude. Without even checking ID. And it's 100% legal.

What people aren't really thinking, is if this guy has hoarded 5,000 (+ or -), and got away with it until now, how many people like him who have more? A warehouse full, or two or 3? This guy was a drug addict as well, so imagine someone unsuspecting, of clear mind, who just stockpiles, catalogs, all types of guns and weapons, and has done that for years.

Not in this case. Many of the firearms were stolen, and had their serial numbers wiped off. The sale of these weapons would be 100% illegal.

Are you really such a simpleton that you believe there's any law on earth that can regulate a sale of private merchandise between two consenting adults? You honestly think a law requiring him to go to the clerk's office and pay a transfer fee is going to be the difference between ISIS getting those guns or not? ::)

at least 1.4% of gun crimes in the USA are committed with loophole guns. That's what we know ot. They don't find serial numbers to majority of guns used in crime.
Point is, if stopping private sales prevents ONE crime, it's worth it. We know it stops many more.
And why introduce "but if they're stolen and wiped..."
My point is that this dude can legally buy 5000 guns, then legally sell them to ANYONE he wants, with no receipt, no background check, no ID even needed. That's a fact. You can intro a bunch of details of "what IF thye're stolen and wiped, then what"... But the bottom line is that this dude can buy 5000 guns legally and sell them to anyone he wants, without any kind of ID check. Not good.

This is untrue and annoying. It so happens that there are a lot of bad things that can happen. This is akin to saying we should ban all driving "becuse if it saves just one life"...
Source for the 1.4% stat? Never saw that before.

You MUST be trolling because the alternative is that you're brain dead. Banning all guns would stop a lot more than one crime. Is that a good justification for banning guns? You fucking moron.

So you could not ban slavery, say, which was the sale of merchandise and totally not an issue in the history of the USA. Or even regulate it, cos that would ruin the economy and cause the sun to stop rising in the east.
You have the odd exception like that guy in Ohio who had 3 girls chained behind a wall but that ban on transactions between 2 private parties seemed to work ok. Do not say slaves were people. They were property at the time.
-
Thr other option is to pitch up a Somalian flag if you have that little faith that any law could be enforced or regulated.
-
Does the amount of guns a person owns a determinate of how dangerous a person is? I mean, at least for me, I can only shoot one gun at a time.
One of my firearms instructor from back in day who worked for the FBI and was a gun collector told me he owned over 500 guns. It was just his thing. Didn't make him seem more of threat or a threat at all.

No but if you have 1000kg of cocaine you're more likely to sell it than someone who has 10g.

I said NOTHING about banning all guns. Just stopping PRIVATE sales between individuals with zero requirement of background check or ID needed. 18 of the states have banned it, but the others allow it. I'd prefer the 2 have to pay $10 to a notary or just enter a gun shop for a background check to make sure no criminals can buy that. Nothing that unreasonable. It's a requirement to buy any new or used gun from a dealer. That loophole which would make it legal for this man to sell 5000 guns to anyone he wants, WITHOUT ID, that scares me.

Stop private sales if it prevents one crime?
You mean like the guns that Obama, Eric Holder, and the DOJ illegally sold to Mexican drug cartels that were proven to have been brought back into the country and used to kill U.S. Border Patrol agents?
How do you suggest we close that loophole? Send a nice gift to the widows?

Sorry fatso but I have no obession with the USA; if you ever read any of my posts I think guns should be legal, just with some regulations. My issue is with you blindly denying some weirdo like this guy who has multiple convictions and questionable mental health having 5000 guns is not an issue.
If you say it is a one off, I can point to how easily someone dressed as batman who shoots up a cinema and is known to have mental illness can get an arsenal of guns, or someone who goes to a Colorado kids' school, or even how a terrorist could shoot up an institute to help disabled people get work in California. UK has 1/5 or so the population of USA but far stricter gun laws - tell me of all the gun massacres there since Dunblane changed gun laws.

The Eurofags are being invaded by the muslim horde and their grandkids will be living under sharia law, but they seem compelled to continue to try to tell Americans how to live and defend ourselves.
No, i feel compelled to point out that the richest country on earth with a shitload of powerful weapons can produce such stupid and dogmatic fucks that you could go toe for toe with some sharia touring islamist in spewing propaganda.

What the fuck are you talking about?
Really.....you are approaching Wiggs, SF1900, and Adonis levels of stupidity here.

How else can you explain someone comparing a person who hoards cats to someone who is mentally ill and a convict with 5000 guns like chaos did?
Let's take up the baton again. Do you see any link between this arrest, and how many guns this guy, with his past, could amass, and the number of fatal mass shootings in the USA.
-
No but if you have 1000kg of cocaine you're more likely to sell it than someone who has 10g.
What does that have to do with the topic?

Fuk brah, you never show even an ounce of mercy.

Keep avoiding the question above.
That quote was inferring the intentions of someone with 5000 guns - chances are they aren't all for that guy's personal pleasure, esp not when he is a hick living in shit. He might sell them to... the wrong people.
Oh, and Pellius, see my post history for the exact insult you just quoted walter sobchak as using when I referred to Wiggs and Chaos. You can't even quote original thoughts. At least Wiggs can quote the bible you whore's abortion.

What question am I avoiding. I made the comment that the lethality of a person is not contingent on how many weapons he owns but how he uses one of those weapons.
If a guy is a law abiding citizen, like one of my gun instructors, I have no issue with his 500+ guns he owns. If the guy is a criminal or has a record of mental issue I don't want him to own even one pocket knife.
The issue to me is always the person not some inanimate object.
I made the same argument that I am not concern that Britain or the US have nuclear weapons but don't want Iran or North Korea to have one.

coach posted the 1.4% stat a few days back.
That loophole which would make it legal for this man to sell 5000 guns to anyone he wants, WITHOUT ID, that scares me.
don't forget, he used the "gunshow loophole" to get the guns used in the terrorist massacre attack.
he didn't want the guns "in his name", so he had a buddy buy them, and then he purchased them from his friend in a PRIVATE SALE with NO BACKGROUND CHECK OR RECORD.
But like coach says, it's "only" 1.4% of shootings proven to use loophole guns, so no biggie, right?
seriously, guys... this terrorist was scared to have guns in his name. Remove the legality of the private sale, and his buddy (who left the terror game and went legal because he was scared of getting caught...) maybe never sells him the guns in the first place.
Think about that.

You aren't a bodybuilder and your opinions don't matter. Why are you on the opinions board of a bodybuilding site?
You aren't a supporter of the 2nd amendment. Why are you still alive?
Cock loving troll.
