If all food is broken down to sugar, then why do people say sugar ages you and gives inflammation, and all around bad for you? My diet is so awful the last 8 weeks due to my surgery so ive been having desserts nightly, sugar cereals, etc.

Go to your local Walmart to see.
It's bad when your caloric intake is high. It's easier to inject a lot of sugar calories through drinks.
Look at India. They eat about twice as much sugar per capita than anywhere else in the world. Do you see lots of fat Indians ?

What if cals stayed under maintenexe tho but lots of sugar?
My day so far
Peanut butter puffin cereal with a hand full of choc chips and almond milk (500 cals x 2 since i had this meal twice today) so 1000 kcals
Then curry rice (360 cals)
Broccolli (neg cals)
Tuna (120)
Splash of olive oil (30 cals)
So another 500 cals
A few crackers and sips of a sugary energy drink (50 cals)
So thats alot of sugar and im around 1600. Have another 1000 to go and it will be a couple dark beers and a big dinner of whatever i want. Max out around 2600
Terrible or no?

Also it was interesting to hear him say that cRdio for fat loss/calorie burning is worthless. Its only to help cardio function and insulin sensitivity.
Fat loss is purely calorie related IMO though

surely we cannot throw every sugar into the pile and say it is bad. Obviously, processed and refined carbs (HFCS) are not the same as fruits, and root vegetables. Also, if you are a hard training athlete, you will have more leeway with what you can eat than a sedentary person. Carbs/sugar really do get vilified more than necessary

Im edgy but not mean or harsh, more like just super self aware and anxious. Its so annoying. I felt like that at the gym today. Every move or thought is calculated instead of just being free and easy going

Over calculating can be a huge stress for sure. I don't put a time limit anymore when I train and no idea how anyone can do legs in an hour,lol!

I always eat over 100g of sugar a day, but my overall calories are at a maintenance level and I get over 40g of fiber a day. Shit isn't rocket science

Sugar (like anything else) is fine in moderation.
Staying under the RDA is pretty difficult, though. I cut it down recently but don't really feel or look any better after having given up candy.

in most cases insulin is the main culprit for all the crap sugar can cause in your body. OThe only part of our body that needs some glucose is the brain. It needs about 25% of it's caloric demands from glucose. Your body can convert amino acids and glycerol from fats to glucose and meet that demand. there's no need for external intake of glucose.
Cancer cells btw thrive on sugar intake. it's proven that cancer cells have a lot of insulin receptors in their membranes which means the diets high in sugars (carbs generally) also help them grow a lot more.

Usually the more sugary stuff is just random things from Costco that taste good and gives me extra calories since I need 4000. They're not that high in sugar, but it adds up throughout the day. I also eat 2 pieces of fruit.

Adonis should get a lot of credit for sticking with bodybuilding and trying to find a way that works with his genetics.

Carbs are sugars and you need carbs,but sugary sweets are just empty calories that do nothing beneficial for your body.
Sure they supply energy also,but are devoid of nutrients compared to a carb like sweet potatoes or white potatoes for just two examples.
A potato will contain a lot more vitamin C than a Snickers bar.

Moderation is the key when it comes to sodas and things like that.
A few sodas here and then won`t ruin your physique.......just excessive amounts become detrimental.
Like Jim/Disgusted pointed out above,insulin is a fat storage hormone and constant insulin spikes from eating crappy carb sources can help you add unwanted fat to your body

I don't feel the site has changed one bit. People are just more free to say what they feel and post crazy or stupid crap. Funniest thing about the G&O being so hostile? Ron banished many of us to the Alphabet boards years ago because he argued the G&O would be better without ball-breaking, site be more professional, be better monetized, etc.. and it was all bullshit.

Yeah,I agree.....my next show is Nov. 2016 so I`m in a building phase,so ice cream is Ok as long as I don`t fucking go crazy and binge like I have done in the past.
Gotta` get my diet a little more in tune......I don`t want to become one of those guys who uses the off-season just as an excuse to eat shitty,but I do have my occasional treats for sure.
Ya` gotta` retain some semblance of normalcy diet wise with no contests looming over your head.

The -not so- fine art of binge eating is a seductive trap after a contest, but 4-8 weeks later you will have to face the truth: you're starting to look shitty and you're postponing to get the structure back in your diet :-[ :o ;D

There's no scientific basis for this opinion but; guys I've seen who build muscle on whole food seem to look better a longer time. Maybe the steps necessary to process food into muscle builds a kind of 'memory' that doesn't happen with pre-digested supplements.
