Why laugh. He basically went through a revolving door and posted 5 million dollars as a bond like it wasn't nothing.
Securities fraud is very hard to prove and most jurors won't know better. Feds got their work cut out for them

Shkreli is being charged for illegally using Retrophin assets to pay off debts after MSMB lost millions of dollars.
The indictment said Shkreli and Greebel, along with others, orchestrated three interrelated fraud schemes from September 2009 through September 2014.
It said they fraudulently induced investors to invest in two separate funds and misappropriated the assets of publicly traded Retrophine to satisfy Shkreli's personal and unrelated professional debt obligations.
Capers said Shkreli had a history of duping investors in one hedge fund to pay off debts from another, and instead of coming clean, continued with his scheme.
"He did that to conceal the lies he told, namely, that their investments were doing well and they were getting handsome returns," Capers added.
"The $65 million Retrophin wants from me would not dent me," a defiant Shkreli previously told Bloomberg Businessweek about the suit.
"I feel great. I'm licking my chops over the suits I'm going to file against them."

He has been doing fraud for half a decade...He stole from wealthy people...the companies he started have never made any money...and he hoped to stick it to health insurance companies with prescription plans...750.00 dollars a pill with the patients paying a ten dollar co-pay.
Even if he didn't do the pill thing, he would eventually have been arrested and prosecuted.

If it can be proved that all his assets were from fraud...That none of his investments made any money..."Fruit of the Poisoned Tree" I think is the legal term...

Fruit of the Poisonius Tree, as a term, is only applicable in evidence gathering.
That said, your premise is correct. Gains from illicit means would be subject to forfeiture.

maybe you ought to tone down your ignorance.
He had 45 million dollars in an e-trade account. Now he has 4 million. So he can't afford to post bond like this, and to pay for other legal costs, for a long time.
