Title: Do any of my getbig bros burn candles?!
Post by: Al Doggity on December 19, 2015, 12:32:03 PM
That's not a metaphor for anything. I mean literally burning scented candles.

I bought some scented candles this morning and my wife just got home and made fun of me.   :'(

When I was 21. I had one that smelled like Drakkar Noir.

Go ahead and make fun, but it landed me tons of coed booty.

I couldn't imagine having one now though. I leave candles to women.

LOL I didn't even understand the concept of scented candles in my 20s. I am pretty clean, so my apartments never smelled bad and i let cleaning products or air spray do their business. I've been "nesting" for the past few years, so the candle thing is recent. My wife is getting a kick out of me becoming Mr. Martha Stewart and moving in on her turf.

Hey man. As long as the wife is happy that's all that matters. Enjoy your scented wonderland!

Yes!! We have Whoopie pie going currently but alternate with various others such as pumpkin pecan waffles (used those for our wedding reception), pumpkin caramel latte, lemon sugar cookie, banana bread, etc.

Finally, someone else not single and a slob gets it.

I can't control smell of my manky shits but a candle helps. Same when I cook my high chilli meals.

I've been "nesting" for the past few years, so the candle thing is recent. My wife is getting a kick out of me becoming Mr. Martha Stewart and moving in on her turf.

I have WoodWicks burning in almost every room 3-5 nights a week; and I always have them burning when I have guests.  I buy them at Bed Bath and Beyond and always use those 20% discount coupons.  They come in a few sizes, and many flavors.  Rarely, I will spring for an overpriced candle at some boutique; more often I will buy cheap random candles from a local dollar store.  I like WoodWick because they are contained in a jar and can be sealed with the included cover to douse the candle without polluting the room with the smoke that typically comes when you blow a candle out.  When you want the candle off, just put the lid on the jar.

Never burn a candle in a room unless you are occupying that room and the candle is within your line of sight.  Never burn a candle near any object that could ignite such as curtain, newspapers, a box of tissues, etc.  Be very mindful of potential hazards that could be caused by a dog or cat moving around your candle or moving objects near your candle when you are not looking.  Do you have one or more fire extinguishers in your home?  You should.  Small cheap one cans be purchased at Home Depot.

Okay, I'm very disappoint.  First of all no one is discussing the obvious fire hazard.  Second, this had the potential to turn into a thread about bathroom smells and whether spray or candles or something else most properly covers the smell of a huge shit.

For the record, I'm in the spray camp.

Know a chick who's into them but of course I forget to buy some.   So I put some diesel into an old soup can and (and here's the genius part) then I mixed in just a soupcon of toothpaste.  She was all wow it's like Paris in here.  Mood set & match.

What?  Who wants the romantic mood of an old cookie sheet or two out in the middle of a room.  Probably with barbecue sauce crusted on from prior improper washings or caked on cheese.

If you can't curse the darkness, light a candle.

Open pillar candles like these are a bad idea.  The wax eventually drips (and makes a mess); because the wax drips (rather than burns off) you are not getting the full life of the candle.  Open pillar candles are more likely to be knocked over (by a pet for example).  The thin ones can be very unstable.  Open pillar candles are a good decoration but not good/safe for actual use.

The thin ones that provide a nice controlled drip can serve their purpose.  And they fit anywhere.

Bay, you surprise me.  I never took you for such a meat & potatoes man.
