Title: Creed
Post by: Radical Plato on December 20, 2015, 01:23:32 PM
Just started to watch this film after downloading a screener. Only 15 minutes in and I am starting to cringe already.  Let me guess, fighter overcomes  the odds and obstacles to somehow miraculously rises to the top.  Don't think I can watch much more of this crap.

Dude, watch it all. It is actually a very well written and inspiring movie. A lot of homage to the original Rocky. Much better than most of drivel that passes for entertainment now a days...can I say Jennifer Lawrence flicks. Anyway, your theory is blown already. Kid is Creed's son; he has been taken in by Creed's wife...not his mom. He is already rich and lives in a multi-million dollar mansion. He is a fricking analyst or financial dude for Christ's sake. No, he had a dream and desire to fight. He looks up his "uncle" and the rest is history. Well told story.

the fighter intros felt real world vs the popcorn stuff in the original rocky movies except for R1. bellew and ward were cool.

I was thinking this would be about the band, and that Scott Stapp had joined Weiland.

Stopped watching half way through, get slightly better, but it is the same formula every time with just different actors.  I must be getting old, nothing seems original anymore. Might finish watching the rest later if I can be bothered.

Yeah, actually it was pretty decent on my 40-inch LCD Samsung TV. This is the name of the torrent. "Creed.2015.DVDScr.XVID.A C3.HQ.Hive-CM8"
Definitely watchable. Mind you I am not that fussy.

How does it compare to The Fighter and Southpaw?

It was good, but definitely lacked the inspiring soundtrack and great training montages of old Rocky's.  The fights didn't really feel exciting.  I remember rooting for Rocky.  With Creed I wasn't as impressed.  Good though overall. I think Stallone did great.

All the Rocky films were somewhat retarded. No surprise that this is any different.

I watched it all, and it was identical to every other Rocky Movie, underdog fighter overcomes unfavorable odds, throw in a sick and dying beloved trainer and the obligatory love story and you have a Rocky Film.  SAME SHIT, DIFFERENT MOVIE.

It was basically identical to Rocky 1. Just with a black guy. Fight scenes identical down to the blow by blow practically. Guy gets the crap beat out of him and suddenly jumps up just as he is about to lose due to his heart/passion/family, etc. and suddenly is an animal and the other boxer loses all sense of how to box/win and they just stand there punching each other.

Super overrated. Just don't expect much and it's all right to keep on in the background while doin other stuff.

I liked it. It comes with all the baggage and plot devices all Rocky's do, but it was pretty decent. Better than most of the later ones. None of the actors embarrassed themselves, and the actor that plays Creed's son was very good. As mentioned, the fight scenes are closer to a real boxing match than the others, so some might enjoy that, I did.

what did you expect? reality :D ? it's a fight movie featuring stallone. all boxing movies suck for that matter, all that dramatic bullshit makes me puke and the stupid fight scenes... LOL. you can't mimick reality of fighting in a movie like that.

now THIS is a fight movie  8), go overboard with it and make it look fun. save the reality for ufc for example

I tend to agree with this statement. Creed is pure shit.
