Title: I'll soon be living on zero calories a day.
Post by: Never1AShow on December 27, 2015, 05:56:55 AM
When I diet and drop calories then my metabolism adjusts and gets used to the fewer calories.  Then I drop them again and it adjusts again.  My goal is to get down to zero then I don't have to worry about eating or dieting anymore and can focus on other important things.

Seriously, you hear this a lot about metabolism adjusting to fewer calories, but i think that tends to be overstated to justify some "dieting doesn't work" philosophy.

This did cross my mind, what it would mean to eat negative calories.

At what point does the metabolism quit adjusting to the deprivation though?  I don't think this is much talked about.  If you drop down to 1500 calories a day and you body adjust to that new normal, then you drop to 1000 and that becomes the new normal, where does it end.  And what is the mechanism for it.  There's something missing.

I believe the technical term for this is "death".

I may stop right at the point where I can eat 3 almonds a day (or maybe a few plant leaves like that kid in Eddie Murphy's The Golden Child).  I wouldn't want to die, only maintain.

She cared too much.  Kinda like Wiggs and his nebrew hation.   Only Wiggs is (purportedly) male, fat (definitely) and black (yup!).  Both however have one thing in common.

They're stupid.

I agree with you. Starving oneself is a recipe for failure when it comes to permanent weight loss. I've been eating what I like only in smaller portions. My goal was to get down to 175 lbs. This morning, I weighed 175.5 lbs. This is about a thirty pound weight loss in about a year's time. Never once during this time, have I gone hungry.

Shit thread.

Never gone hungry or never been hungry?  I do not buy that you dropped that weight and did not feel hungry and suffer.  I did this myself a couple years back losing similar amounts (and it is still off), but there certainly was some suffering and willpower involved in not saying yes to all the delicious crap out there or to cravings or to simple feelings of wanting to have larger portions.  Left to my own nature I'd eat a whole pepperoni pizza every night.

Back to reality, I was stupid enough to starve myself "thin" (not really ripped) before. I went from permabulker 5000cals/day or probably far more when binging beer, pizza and kebabs was accounted for, to no drink, 4 shakes a day and one solid meal of rice and chicken - maybe 1300 cals a day. No issue with temptation. In fact, I forced myself to eat one cheat meal a week and felt rotten for it. I was that idiotic and determined.

Overdieting is idiotic in short term - long term it may make you live longer but you may as well wear sandals and get bongos because you're a skinny hippy.

Perhaps you missed my point. If I liked pepperoni pizza, I'd eat a couple of slices, as I do with other pizza combos that I do like. More than that, and I'd start to fill too full. I eat whatever I want, when I want. I just eat reasonably small portions most of the time. I don't think I can take credit for having much willpower. I've never been a big eater. When I've wanted to bulk up, I've had to force feed myself a lot of protein shakes between meals. I'm down to one or two of those a day and only on days when I hit the gym.

This is flat out denial, 4 shakes and a meal of chicken and rice a day and you didn't feel tempted?  Horseshit.  Horseshit on 1300 calories a day for any lengthy period.  Horseshit on your being skinny.  I could never be skinny.  I have too much mass even when lean.

You lost 30 lbs eating whatever you want when you want and drinking 1-2 protein shakes a day on gym days?  And you are never hungry?  I have some duck egg embryos I wish you to buy.

Duck eggs are very gamy tasting. I'm not fond of them. Keep in mind that I also said I don't eat allot.

Zero calories is hardcore. Like Arnold, doing whatever it takes. He knew he could drop 25 lbs in a month if he had to.

I wish you good fortune in your endeavour.
