To My Fans and Friends
First and foremost, I want to thank my friends, fans and supporters who have shown that a solid reputation built over the course of many years overshadows the allegations of one individual. In the wake of the circulating rumors and speculation regarding an alleged incident at my home gym, never has the importance of standing up for what I believe in and acting in accordance with those beliefs been so apparent to me. Anyone who knows me; be it well or simply in passing, is aware of my commitment to represent myself and the sport of bodybuilding in a positive manner. To me, this has always meant sticking up for what I know is right, opening my mouth if need be and defending my position and my person. Simply put, I respect those deserving of respect and unless proven otherwise I believe everyone is deserving. To that end, I have made it my career-long mission to go out of my way to help people, share knowledge and act in accordance with the greater good. That said, it is unfortunate that there are individuals out there who will stop at nothing in an effort to intentionally damage my reputation. While I refuse to do the same in response, I am confident that those who have read these allegations will see them for what they really are.
In closing, I again want to thank everyone for their continued support and loyalty. Please know that I refuse to give any further life to this.

Notice how he hasn't actually denied it?

Notice how he hasn't actually denied it?
Which is a good sign. It shows that he has some accountability. It shows that he isn't going to tell an outright lie (most pro's would've lied their asses off)

What's his stack?

What's his stack?
Lots of trenbalonie. It builds shoulders and traps and makes you want to bitch-slap twinks.

Here's Scentofpanties unofficial statement:
I don't take kindly to disrespect. not on the internet, not in person, not in a grocery store parking lot, not in like at walmart, not in a restaurant, not at the beach, not at the dry cleaners... anywhere.
ppl talk about the 'pussyfication' of America, yet they run their mouths thinking they won't get slapped and get their arm broken in front of their friends.
spent many yrs in a place where if you talk slick and say something out of line to somebody, you know that when you say it, you better be ready for what happens. most ppl here in the 'real world', aren't ready for what could happen.. and run their mouths like the world is a make believe cartoon. despite wearing nice slacks, polished shoes and a nice shirt, the guy you steal that parking spot from at the grocery store and proceed to flip off, may have just gotten out of prison and will have no problem identifying they bitch in you and proceed to teach you a lesson by taking you down to the ground and kicking out your teeth before you even know what happened.
the guy who's willing to go the furthest, wins. if you're not willing to go all the way, it's best you keep your mouth shut and move on, and make it to the next day.
-
Non-denial denial.
-
All the information in this thread is simply hearsay, until it comes from the mouth of "The Industry Insider", Vince Goodrum!
:D
-
Is not legit until Vince G confirms.
-
So he thinks he's a big tough guy because he scared some kids out of the gym?
He should try doing that to someone his own size (he won't).
-
Probably caught the affluenza.

On the one hand, it sounds like he is defending what he did (slapping kid) by saying "To me, this has always meant sticking up for what I know is right, opening my mouth if need be and defending my position and my person." So, does he feel like he was in the right to hit the kid because he was sticking up for and defending his "home" gym?
Or, is he defending his position that he has a solid reputation and will not entertain such a crazy accusation (hitting the kid)?
Talk about a vague post.

We really need an official statement from Vince Goodrum. :-\

we need an update from the slappee in response to this statement

How could he slap???

Evan has more trouble than that. Apparantly these college kids are part of "Black Lives Matter" and when a large white guy curses at a group of black people and slaps one of them, then you'll be perceived as a racist piece of shit.
All of this was over Evan wanting to use a workout station that those kids were over at. He should have waited his turn

Thank you for your official statement. What are you hearing on the BLM side? Are they going to drop it, or will this escalate with protests. This could potentially be devastating to the IFBB. This could really tarnish the IFBB's image, just when they were starting to make a push into mainstream sports. :-\

Not sure. They'll eventually find out who he is and at that point take action.
-
Seems to me his statement indicated he did it but doesn't regret it and feels it was justified.
-
but what a bitch move getting slapped and not defending yourself. Instead he goes to whine about it on the internet. Nothing less to expect from a fag I guess

PS- he is not a kid either but an adult

Realistically, most people aren't going to get into it with a 280+ lb pro bodybuilder, despite the conventional wisdom on here that bodybuilders aren't actually tough.
-
As soon as he brought race in as an issue I realized he was only fishing for attention.
Was it wrong that Evan used physical violence? Yes.
Does it look good for Evan and bodybuilding in general? Hell no, it just perpetuates the stereotype that bodybuilders are assholes with short fuses.
HOWEVER, the guy who posted that shit on facebook should have either kept it private and pressed charges, or never brought race in as an issue unless Evan said some racial slur towards him. He even wrote that he's just speculating that Evan lashed out because he's non-white. That's such a fucked up reason to think that someone would use physical violence against you.
No wonder my parents told me as a kid to never get into a fight with non-whites, no matter how much in the right I am, because I'd end up paying for it with fines and maybe even jail time because: "hate crime"
I can't wait until all races are finally mixed into one so we can finally beat each other senseless without the race card being pulled. Unfortunately, it will probably not happen in my life-time or even my [future] children's lifetimes lol.

Venom Vince Versace, in the future I expect you to deliver hot gossip to the thunderdome right away. Don't slack off.

Apparently this is not the first time this individual has pissed off some pro, a pro in that thread also from CT, Chris Tuttle says he has some history with him as well

I have some experience with that individual and can say it was far less than favorable! The dude has rubbed a few people wrong before. Coincidence? I think not!
I have known Evan for years on a personal level and he is a good dude. Whatever happened the guy was probably out of line and rude. Some people today carry this entitlement. I do not get it.
Why do I and everyone keep saying kid? If you are not adult at 21 then what the fuck an adult these days?
-
kid was asian, and gay, not black keep up Vince

same thing. Asians are essentially yellow nigs.... ;D
-
Never mind. He got jacked up and slapped a kid.
-

Ok that's funny

Has the IFBB commissioner spoken yet? I cannot imagine that an official statement will not be coming soon.

It's possible he's a jerk. It's also possible to have "less than favorable" interactions with someone who isn't a jerk. The thing that stands out at me is the physical altercation.
-
LOL

OK, maybe we really just need Harley to weigh in here since Vince appears to be phoning it in from Nibaru.

Back in the 80/90's you always paid respect (ie. Let them use whatever equipment they needed and didn't talk unless talked to) to the top dog at ANY gym.
That is just the way is was, and still should be.

No... it shouldn't be that way. Unless "the top dogs" pay higher gym fees which gives them priority over equipment, everyone who pays for a membership should have the same right to equipment as everyone else.
Meatheads already get a bad rap for being short-fused and violent. Why perpetuate that stereotype, especially in today's world? Being alpha is one thing, but being an asshole is just not necessary.
LOL @ speaking only when spoken to, wtf is this? a prison? If you can't handle someone asking you a question without lashing out in tren rage, then maybe you should seek psychiatric help or lower the fucking dose.
-
TL;DR. Cliffs or GTFO.

What a beautifully cruel and true statement LOL... :D

Back around 1990 Rich Gaspari tried that shit with me, I told him to beat it. He came back with his bigger buddy so I told him to fuck off. The two of them complained to the gym owner and were told to wait until I was done.
That's not how it was or how it should be...
-
Mayor of bodybuilding chimed in:
I met Evan in 07 with my son and from day one Evan has been a stand up guy and decent. Over the years I have talked with Evan about life in general and he has a lot of character and has my full support.

lol haha. Oh boy, what is this high school? Pay respect to the top dog? lol
Don't talk in a gym unless talked to? haha lol. Oh man, you are some kind of stupid. :D :D
Everyone pays for their gym membership. No one has a monopoly on any machine.

This exactly. Wtf are these posters talking about? This is real life. There is no "alpha gorilla silverback" at my gym or any I've been to hoarding weights and not allowing others to use it, or someone so untouchable I can't ask him a question or say something. Where is this fantasy thong love talk originating from? These people siding with Evans violence is like 12 year old thought process.

Some tough guys in this thread.
20/30 years ago in a hardcore gym the top dogs were known enforcers.
Many people got their asses kicked in Sydney gyms back in the day.
I've heard the same in Britain.
-

This. Like an angry look is going to scare me. Lol
Oh, you're supering sets 4 machines at once? fuck off douche.
You need to use the machine I'm on right now and you don't want to work in? Fuck off loser.

It appears Evan believes himself to be above the regular gym crowd. He must keep in mind that not every one in the gym is mayor of bodybuilding, nor do they care what he thinks.
As for his statement, I see no denial. Just like any other fiasco he has been involved in.
Then again, Evan is like the Bill Cosby of bodybuilding. Such a peaceful man, he would never do such a thing.
-
To me, this has always meant sticking up for what I know is right, opening my mouth if need be and defending my position and my person. Simply put, I respect those deserving of respect and unless proven otherwise I believe everyone is deserving.
Tip - self-defense is not a defense to assault because of mere words that show disrespect. Don't see how this guy was a threat to his "person."
-
lol haha. I bet the gym is your "home." Right? :D :D
i currently live in Honolulu where, as a minority white person, the gyms are ruled by the biggest Samoans you have ever seen. The kind of guys anyone here wouldn't have the balls to try to play with trust me.
-
gym culture has changed. there's a bunch of females in the gym now with amazing confidence, it's pretty weird because it wasn't like that before. coupled with the yoga pants and so on it's become quite an interesting scene...guess evan is one of the older generation now. time flies! hmmm

No one as knowledgable about holistic living and nutrition would do such a thing. The man is well spoken and intelligent. He can break down nutrition metabolism like a university professor. This clearly makes him incapable of doing wrong.

You can just imagine how mad he got when he wasn't shown respect.
Evan: "Are you using that machine?
Guy: "Yes, I am."
Evan: "How much longer are you going to be?"
Guy: "I don't know. I have a few more sets."
Evan: "Do you know who I am?"
Guy: "Nope."
Evan: "Well, I am an IFBB pro, Evan Centopani."
Guy: "Who?"
Evan: "I can't believe you don't know who I am. I will show you who I am!"
Guy: "Um........"
