Lathes, even the tiny hobbyist models, will mess you up something fierce quickly. Remember to tie back hair, remove rings, don't wear ties, long sleeves, or other clothing that can get caught up in the works. A Yale student got scalped, and dragged into one a few years ago by her hair.

Buffers, sanders, and grinders are other tools that catch folks off guard a lot too.

Yes and don't use alc or other mind altering substances, lack of sleep, etc.
One time when i  was working in the industry electronics field a few yrs. ago I went for 2 beers at noon, came back from the break.
Wasn't too careful and one of those smaller robots hit me straight on the head. Saw some stars and a small amount of blood.
Those fuckers got no feelings.
Luckily nothing serious.

I work with my hands, while sitting at a desk, while browsing GETBIG.

Multitask of violence.

80% desk
20% hands

(Network Engineer, design and support world-wide company networks, but also get to configure and install gear as well).

Gets me out of my chair once in a while...
