FWIW :-\
Americans average 4–5 grams (4,000–5,000 mg) of sodium per day, but we only need about 500 mg. RDA says to stay under 2400mg/day. Athletes and those with hypertension are a different story.

So what IS the story with athletes? I salt the sh*t out of my food, b/c i heard its anabolic.

I don't know about the anabolic thing - never heard that one. But with athletes, there are no real clear cut guidelines. Triathletes, marathon runners, etc. go for long distances/time, so salt and potassium balance can get out of whack quite easily. So much is lost thru sweat and just drinking water is definatly not enough. Heavily salting your food is probably not a good idea, esp. if hypertension runs in your family.

In some people, salt intake has no measurable effect on PB. In others it does.
