He said this today on his show around 1:15pm EST. And I think he's quite correct.
Palin was the voice of conservatism. She's now endorsing Trump, who is the voice of nationalism/populism.
"USA is Great!" and "let's do whatever is popular, like a wall" have replaced conservative values. It's going to get ugly if he wins the presidency and issues liberal policies forcing businesses to do what he chooses.

nothing wrong with nationalism
-
Its not what he said...his point was...
Samuel Francis wrote in 1996 that Buchanan -- or any would-be conservative-leaning president -- should just jettison all the philosophical pretense of conservatism and just run on nationalism and patriotism. He said that the media wants you to think that conservatives aren't United behind conservatism. Trump is a different animal. The republican party is not made up of the conservative movement. We just happen to support that party. By and large they've abandoned conservatives.

SPOT ON. that's what i was talking about.
It's a shame. Rush is right. it's about a big strong leader screaming "USA!", not about conservative positions on the issue.
The big strong leader will lead us right down the road to liberalism.

there was NOTHING conservative on that stage, with Palin and Trump.
Very "patriotic", very "mix things up" and very much "let cruz stay at his current job".
If you want small spending govt, this aint' for you.
If you want a govt that doesn't get involved in micromanaging business, this ain't for you.

Rush was not advocating it...somebody, another professor had made this same point a few years ago...and he has been talking about it for weeks.

I didn't say rush was advocating it. If anything, he seemed concerned about it. It was more of an observation.
It's true... Trump lacks any strong political beliefs. Just as likely to raise deficit to "out-greatness" everyone by tripling size of govt, like Reagan did, in the name of "winning".
Cruz wants to scale back govt spending. Scale back military spending. Scale back corporate subsidies. He's the only one in the race making an ounce of sense.
IMO, Trump-mania is way bigger than the obama-mania ever was. Hilay wins ONE more state, and she gets the nomination, remember? Trump is blowing out people in most states, it ain't even close.

Today around 11:45, Glen Beck added to this.
"Trump gives us NATIONALISM + POPULISM.
If you add one more ingredient, SOCIALISM, You get Hitler."
Of course, aside from cutting every poor person's taxes, taking over businesses to force them to move manufacturing domestically, and borrowing 10 trillion to fund it.... it's not like Trump has his own brand of socialism, right? ;)
