Well, its true, not everyone wants to compete (I am not bashing those that do). A guy at my gym is pretty freaking huge and ripped. Big Irish guy. He has absolutely no desire to step on a bodybuilding stage. Why is it so hard to believe that someone can be in shape, but not want to compete? ??? ???

Ron's rules.
Blue stars are only for people that HAVE competed. Time isn't a factor, Cutler had blue stars when he posted he, he should keep them even if he hasn't competed in years.

Exactly. I competed 30 yrs ago and proudly got 6th out of 8 guys at the Mr Podunk.
Then, I did the BB world a favor and hung up my trunks. In other words, I sucked as a bodybuilder.
I didn't have much ripped mass , but I stuffed a sock down my trunks and got a few schmoes gawking.

What happens when someone receives these mystical blue stars? Is it like receiving a purple heart or nobel peace prize? Can one use these blue stars like a get out of jail free card? Do these blue stars help you land a great job or improve your credit score, maybe join a private country club? These stars sound very interesting and exciting. Please tell me what they do???? The last time I remember stars being handed out and anyone getting excited was in 2nd or 3rd grade. I thought it was fucking stupid back then even as a kid. Surely now these magical stars must have some great value and meaning to them and not just handed out for bravery of entering a bodybuilding competition????

Being big in the gym is not the same. Anyone who has ever competed knows that being up there in trunks means you can't hide your flaws. Poor symmetry, fuck you, pay me. No legs, fuck you, pay me. Wide waist, poor conditioning, weak back, whatever, fuck you, pay me. Gym big and stage big are two entirely different things.

No, this guy can 100% compete. He is not just gym big, he i stage big. It wouldn't take much for him to get on stage. Ive chatted with him. Between work and family, he just has no time for it. It has absolutely nothing to do with not being ready because of his physique; its just not an important thing for him to do in his life.

Wrong....you have to be more than a competitor to get blue stars. Ron makes the decision on that but the main thing is that you have to have been not a regular competitor but a participant in the bodybuilding industry and you cannot be on the IFBB shit list or his shit list.
Ultimately, from speaking with Ron, you simply have to be valued contributor to the bodybuilding community

Ok here's the deal on the blue stars.
I went to the Columbus Hooters a few years ago with some fellow getbiggers at the ARNOLD.
Obviously we were on getbig via smart phone wifi.
Hooters waitress was a 10+, came over and asked us about the site.
I was the ONLY one there with Blue stars and she asked what that meant.
She smiled sweetly and asked me if I wanted a BJ in the bathroom.
I went and got a nut.
Blue stars for the win.

Lee Priest has Pro Stars...those are green. But yes, there's more to the blue stars than just competing. Ron stated that Vince Basile had not competed in over 40 years but I honestly think it has more to do with him attacking Jim Manion and Chick.....he also got into hot water on IronAge with Shawn Perine for impersonating the widow of a deceased Mr America....and then there is the 1970 Mr Canada title. Vince Basile created the event, picked the judges, and hosted the show....obviously he would win so its actually a sham title

After two pages of posts it's hard to figure out who actually gets blue stars, perhaps we will never know who makes the decision. It could be random and once you register the star colors are predetermined.
Howard has them and so does Vince, and they seem to be universally loved so maybe that has something to do with it?

Being eligible for blue stars is not the same thing as getting them. Clearly, there is a certain amount of politics involved too. Basile does play well with the folks who make the blue star decisions. He's ragged on so much about deserving blue stars that he's become annoying to the powers that be on this issue. That is not the best route to getting something he so obviously wants, despite his contrary protests.
Bottom line is they are treated as something of a prize, no matter whether you are the giver or the receiver. If this were a perfect and fair world, being well liked would have nothing to do with getting blue stars.
