Schwarzenegger's $350,000 Mercedes-Benz truck waiting for a buyer on eBay
By Tyler White
Arnold Schwarzenegger's former 1977 Mercedes-Benz Unimog, a ridiculous truck that looks more like a tank, is being sold by a Texas company on eBay for a whopping $350,980.
The silver truck comes with a 6.4L Turbocharged Diesel I6 Engine, a tire inflation system and several other crazy bells and whistles.
It also comes with photos of the former California governor leaning against the Unimog, a rearview camera system and vinyl air-ride seats, according to the eBay posting.
The Unimog has 1,865 miles on the odometer. $350,980 is the "buy it now price." as of Wednesday it appears there were six inquiries into the sale, but no bids. eBay listed 678 people as "watching" the auction, which will expire at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
“Arnold has long shown an appreciation for vehicles as macho as the action heroes he has portrayed during his silver-screen days. Now you can buy one of them,” according to the listing.
The vehicle was previously sold by the “The Governator” for $275,000, according to Mercedes Blog.
The auction page on eBay states the current seller is Texas Direct Auto.

Looks bad ass from the outside but what a crappy looking interior. Looks like your every day car, not even Mercedes, why the hell did they cheap out like that? Guess there was no interior filming?

It's not cheap - it's simple in a Russian way. Two other cars that had the same "style" going were the Lada Tiger and the Fiat Panda.
It's just a no nonsense approach though I guess the parts in Arnies ride are made from far better material than in the two mentioned above.

Unimog = indestructible.

Read that in the voice of Lou Ferrigno in my head.

1977 model
It's an old car, but they did make changes like the stereo.
It looks like they wanted to keep the old feel of it.
But I agree, it doesn't look comfortable. Probably another reason no miles are on it.
What would this cost "stock" without the Arnold factor?

Should be around 6 figures anyway...

Hilarious he thinks this is a good deal, i'm surprised there's still anyone out there left for him to sell to.

x2. Obviously, at this point he is trying to get rid of merchandise. Lou had a huge audience in the 1980s; in the 1990s he had fading glory; in the 2000s he had the echo of glory; today there is nothing left. The tank is empty and he needs to stop hawking photos of what he looked like 35 years ago. All these years later he should be on financial footing so as to make these sales unnecessary.
Bah!

The weird thing is that you could argue that he does it for the fans.
But what age are Ferrigno fans? They have to be 40+ to even have seen him when he was relevant.
So really, who cares who he is today?
The picture of him portrayed on Getbig is not positive, but WHO is painting a positive picture of him that anyone even wants to pay $20 for a pic?
-
a tire inflation system
In the industry we call that an 'air compressor.' Exotic.

Read that in the voice of Lou Ferrigno in my head.
IOU......You owe Lou!

That truck would have looked so much better if it were Hebrew black...
-

It's automatic and it can correct for all sorts of situations, including punctures.
-
"We've got a pressure compromised situation, sir!"
"Deploy the pneumatic compensation system, soldier!"
-
Why does it have a Euro plate in the window?
it's a German plate from the district of Rastatt. Maybe it belongs to the truck's past owner? ???
-

This way, you won't have to do that.
-

Ok ok, it's pretty nifty if it's auto. How's it work? Guessing there's an additional schrader valve running through the hub?
Think I'd prefer to get out and use a plain old compressor and hose since there's a lot less goodies wear out and no one is shooting at me. And God help you if you run over a nail. Guy at the tire store: "You want a wat?"

He goes to Comicons as well. Everybody loves Da Hulk at these. I would guess that whenever Hulk is featured in an Avengers movie or the character has his own movie, Lou gets a boost when he goes to these Comicons.
-
Yea and not only that but you can view any picture you want of him online, the same with his dvd's you can find that free online, probably on youtube.

I grew up reading comics, watching him in his prime; I am one of those fans. But even I do not want to buy his silly photos and posters. Yes, he was schmoetastic in his day; tier 1! But he needs to hang it up. All his best images can be seen online.
-
Did Arnold ever wheelled it?

Yes, they're simple systems. And if a person runs a fleet of trucks, I'd imagine it would pay for itself pretty quickly. The main thing is that it would keep the tires at ideal pressure so they would last longer. The fact that they could save you in a puncture situation is an added bonus.

Even the shirt that he's wearing is outdated.
Flex magazine has been dying slowly for the past 10 years.

whats it for?
Not much, unless you're working on some undeveloped land or something. But even then it wouldn't be worth the cost. Not sure who'd buy it, really. Will look at auction and see if there are any bids.
-
Oh, right. Auction ended Thursday.
-
5 more days, but I'd be surprised if it sells at that price.

A story from when Arnold sold it.
September 14, 2014: The 1977 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1300 of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was put up for sale recently in Germany, according to a report from gtspirit.com.
The unique, four-wheel drive multipurpose truck is road legal in Germany and the United States. The German-made 7.5 ton truck was custom-built on a 1977 chassis for the Austrian-born actor. It features a 6.4-liter diesel engine that is Euro 3 compliant and is capable of producing 320 HP of power. However, its top speed is limited to around 100 km/h due to its massive weight and less than aerodynamic design. It sits on a set of 22-inch wheels clad in 445/65 tires from Michelin. The wheelbase of the enormous vehicle is 2810 millimeters.
The Unimog U1300 is just one of the peculiar vehicles in the garage of the former governor of California, who also owns a military tank. It was manufactured in 2012 for the actor.
The 1977 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1300 is reportedly in good working condition and has been driven for 13,048 miles or 21,000 kilometers. Aside from its famous owner, the Unimog U1300 has a number of special features from Mercedes-Benz. Among the special features integrated on the vehicle are its rearview paring camera, air suspension, trailer brake system, roll bar, bull bar, and electric winch.
The Unimog U1300 of the actor also features Hella Luminator lights, quick-release hand brake, and flatbed with an integrated bench with seatbelts for three people. An added bonus for fans of the actor is his signature, which can be found on the dashboard along the center air vents.
The actor spent $250,000 to have the Unimog U1300 custom-built for him. The massive vehicle has a price tag of $275,000. The signature of the actor justifies the additional $25,000 on the price tag of the vehicle. Anyone interested in the custom-built 1977 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1300 of the actor can purchase it through MEREX.

Love how the mileage has actually gone down. Must be the first vehicle in history to do that.

Bah!
Once Instant Death is released in theaters, Lou will be on top again. It is sure to sell more tickets than Star Wars. Then his signature and picture will be worth twice as much! Better stock up. No surer way to double you money.
