So Will Smith is complaining about the Oscars. He's had some entertaining movies and good roles. That "film vehicle" for son was just terrible. It was one of the few movies I could not finish watching and started fast forwarding after a few minutes hoping it would improve but had to shut it down after about 15-20 minutes. Just a horrible movie and his son is just too punchable to pull it off. The spaceship interiors looked like something out of flintstones with crate and barrel decorations and totally unbelievable.

he was good in legend
and the one called happiness or something like that

Yes it is pathetic that he is complaining about the Oscars. Makes him seem like the retarded sore loser kid who also wants a star on his forehead.

Complaining about a guy boycotting the Oscars is way gayer than boycotting the Oscars.
Do men even watch those award shows?
-
I thought After Earth fell nicely into the "so bad it's good" category.

Lets be honest here:
Will Smith is a good actor, but hes not a great actor. I have no problem with him being passed over, as I don't think any of his movies really were deserving of an award.
However, someone like Denzel Washington definitely deserves to have a few awards under his "belt." (and he does). Id be more apt to agree with this whole debacle if someone like Denzel never won an award.

denzel is one of the best
i will watch a film just cause he is in it

Word in the Hollywood mailroom is that Will Smith hired his own screenwriter to rewrite his "Oscar monologue" in Concussion and now he's pissed he didn't even get a nomination. In Hollywood, all major actors in a drama require their character be given an "Oscar monologue" unless their character has a disability or cries in the film.

He's definitely one of those actors who can give you faith in a film just knowing he chose to be a part of it.

Agreed!
Have you ever seen, "Man on Fire?" Love that movie. He was also good in American Gangster, The Manchurian Candidate, John Q, Training Day, Remember the Titans.
He has done a lot of good movies.

Almost all of his movies are good.

Both of them were really good.
Also i always wondered about the title:
Book of Eli...
Book of Lie...
?

I never heard any bitching or boycotting from Italian Martin Scorsese when out of all his masterpieces failed to bring in gold until the departed
he sat there patiently and did his work and eventually got rewarded for it

possibly
think its a biblical reference that eli was a seeker of truth
one of the god squads might know

So, yeah, I don't think Will Smith is all that great of an actor to be bitching and moaning. I heard his South African accent in the movie "Concussion" was pretty atrocious.

he is good in wise cracking action flicks
and i think as i say some of his acting in legend was really convincing
like when he had to kill his dog
tough to carry a film like that on your own
but denzel is like champagne to his piss

Agree with this. Smith is generally pretty good/solid. I liked 7 pounds and some others he's been in.

Will Smith is a star, stars often need attention and when their latest "blockbuster" flops they get nervous.
At this point they either try another epic or they go a to different "vehicle" (comedy, drama).
If the new venue they pick isn't a commercial success financially, they try to receive it as a critically acclaimed award winner.
Oscars are attention generators.
